September has been a month of sustainable growth, and now we're making room for something a little different. In this short episode, I share what's coming up in October, why it's a good time to reflect on your practice, and how we can make room for a bit of celebration along the way.I'm also giving away four half-hour one-to-one sessions throughout October. To enter, leave a review on your favourite podcast platform and email me the details, along with a question, idea or suggestion about what you'd like to hear more of and how I can better support you.Email: [email protected] close on 31 October, and I'll announce the winners in the first November episode. If you've already left a review, you're still eligible to enter.
I had a client eating schnitzel five times a week. Rather than a salad lecture, I asked her to bring it down to two. She thanked me for it and came back the following week. That's retention in practice. In this episode, I talk about growing your practice without burning out, supporting the clients you already have, and making retention part of your everyday conversations. I also share questions to help you think about the clients you love working with and how you can actively support their ongoing change. If you're in the Strategy Lab, your workbook is waiting. You've got an extra week to finish your journaling on this one.If you're not in the Strategy Lab yet and want a proper framework for these conversations rather than winging it, this is exactly what it's built for. Your next client might already be sitting in your diary. We spend so much time thinking about getting new people through the door, but what are we doing with the people who are already there?I’m talking about retention this week and why I think it’s a seriously underrated part of growing a practice. Not keeping people coming back for the sake of it, but actually supporting them through the changes they’re trying to make.I’m also getting into the little things that make a difference: what you say before they leave, when you book them back in, making referrals easier, and yes, even putting your prices up without making a song and dance about it.Because growth doesn’t have to mean cramming more into your week.Inside Strategy Lab, I take this further with the retention conversation framework, practical prompts and the actual scripts to help you put these ideas into practice.Already a member? This week I'm checking in with you about capacity, not more hours, because it's been a fortnight since we first talked about it, and I want to know how you're getting on.Here's what I cover:The power of one simple reframe, and how just saying it in a real conversation can shift the whole tone with a clientHow visualising and verbalising change actually shifts your mindset and your businessThree questions to sit with before we move into growing without burning next week. This is a short one, just enough to get you thinking before next week, when we dive into growing without burning. If you want the full list of eight reframes and the stress test for pricing and capacity, that's all waiting for you in the Strategy Lab. I’m kicking off September with sustainable growth, and this fortnight, we’re talking about capacity. When you run your own practice, it’s not just about how many clients you can fit into the diary. There’s the consult, the notes, the research, the admin, the business itself, and then there’s having enough energy left for your actual life. I’m sharing how I worked out my own limit of 15 clients a week, why I protected certain days and evenings, and why “just book more clients” isn’t always the answer. I’m also looking at some simple changes to the way we talk about our services and how those little reframes can shift the conversation with clients. Strategy Lab members, you can take this further with the capacity calculator and workbook. Just access them in the portal. Not part of the Strategy Lab yet? Join us and work through it with me.
