Jacqueline Wesley is our guest today Jacqueline started coming to NorthPointe fairly recently. After driving past us many times she finally joined us for service and kept coming back. Since then she attended Core Classes and got into a small group and has been enjoying becoming part of the community. Meet Rocky & Elisha - they moved to the US from the Philippians in February of 2020. They found themselves in the middle of a worldwide pandemic, continents away from family, and working on the frontlines. Elisha is a nurse and had been relocated from England to the US. It was a dream of hers for most of her adult life, but she never thought it would unfold like this. Rocky had given up his career to play a support role and both of them had to rely on their faith and on each other as they maneuvered through this anxious time.  They found themselves relocating again to Madera and through an invite from a neighbor they came to know NorthPointe as their home church in 2021. Far from home they found a family of believers they could enjoy life with and they are finally feeling like they are settling in and growing roots. They're expecting their 2nd child in the summer of 2022.
"Desperation leads to inspiration! It can be so, so hard—impossibly difficult, even--in the moment to see that something terrible happening to you in your life is really God’s ultimate plan for your good!" - Michael Oeser Today we hear a redemption testimony from Michael Oeser. Michael shares his journey from loss to addiction to jail time and to ultimate redemption by the grace of God. It's a powerful reminder of just how gentle and consistent Jesus is.
Senior Pastor Shane Ham joins the podcast today to talk about plans for the new coffee shop on our campus. He shares the vision and talks about the style of coffee, the expansion of the patio, the changes to our baptism area and the added outside amphitheater that will allow us to enjoy outdoor worship services at the center of campus. Our desire is to always be looking for the new ways for God to use our campus to invite people in. Creating a campus that's impactful, helpful and inviting. From growing our Peace Center and developing that to serve the community with things like a food pantry and job readiness facility to developing our land to include things like a sports complex and family play area that allows people to use it and enjoy it. We know a coffee shop is not the only way to reach people, it's one of many and we want to keep find new ways to meet people and meet their needs, so that the loves of Jesus is evident throughout our campus and throughout our lives.  Want to give towards the coffee shop? We're sitting with NorthPointe Music team members, Worship Pastor Kyle Williams and Production Director Andrew Kauffman talk through a new song they wrote and we get to hear it, hear the process of writing it and the story behind it. Many people may not realize that oftentimes songs start from scripture. This new song derives from a Psalm and was written with the thought of the Lord's people singing the prayers of scripture from a heart of worship. *REMINDER* Scroll down and vote for your favorite song title; Draw Near, More Than Anything, Here With Me Follow NorthPointe Music on Spotify
Today Nicole Patzkowsky gives an inside look to the experience of volunteering for Summer Extreme Days. From the fears that can hold you back, to the benefits of being used by God. You never know how God plans to use you, until you place yourself in a situation to be used for God's plans. So whether you live in Fresno and want to volunteer, or you want to show your support online (email us online@northpointe.org) or you feel God wanting to use you in your community to do something big or even something small...just trust the Lord to give you what you need and He will handle the rest. We're talking with Michelle Jackson today. Michelle came from a dysfunctional home with parents that were (and still are) addicts. She had to grow up fast and moved out at a young age. Over time the build up of lies, deceit and difficult relationships grew an anger that stems from wanting to control her environment and have the power to control the people around her as well. That led to deep seeded anger and resentment that needed to be dealt with. She had a chance to seek help through a local place called Total Life Change (TLC) where she learned how to manage her anger through healthy tools and support. Michelle is now living a more balanced life, but still relies heavily on the Lord for continued healing from her past with a focus on not sinning in her anger. We're talking with Celebrate Recovery Minister, Will Russell about the doubts he has had through the years from being a kid and going to church for a time to growing up and living through the divorce of his parents to running and hiding in drugs and bad choices. He may have doubted, but God never left him and when the time was right, everything changed.
FEAR -  It's a vicious cycle and many of us have struggled with it. Today Taylor shares the struggles of living with growing fears and anxieties and how those escalated to isolation and having anxiety over being anxious. She also shares thoughts on the things you can do to help someone struggling with fear and what steps to take to get out of it.

Today we're talking about The Peace Plan and how it's at work in Ukraine and the surrounding countries. We've had lots of people ask us what we're doing, if we're doing anything, and the simple answer is - yes. We are in constant communication with friends, leaders, pastors and others in Ukraine, Moldova, Poland and Russia. There are stories coming in about needs already being met for things like food, blankets & fuel for heat. We're also taking time to pray for some specific ways that our friends on the ground have asked for. If you’re interested in practical ways to help? Head to the following link and follow the instructions below - https://my.northpointe.org/give/now Choose the 'Relief Efforts' option and then select 'Ukraine Crisis' to give directly to the efforts on the ground in Ukraine & the surrounding areas, as they take in refugees. You can also email us at mission@northpointe.org
We've all been there, the desire to walk away from social media because of a bad experience, a rude comment or a hateful message. Someone shares or says something to you or about you that makes you question yourself, your post or just you, as a person...and it derails you, right? It's okay, we've been there too and today, Ashley Goldsmith, a graduate of Fresno State and business owner of Blue Chair Communications is sharing her thoughts on the purpose and power of social media and how she has learned to balance the pros with the cons.    Blue Chair Communications https://bluechaircommunications.com/
Thanks for joining us on Midweek Live today! We're talking with Sally Wellington Jennings about how she has had to balanced a love and not-so-loving relationship with social media. How she processes the good experience with the bad and has learned to create some healthy boundaries with her time spent scrolling.
Linda Espinoza has been a part of the NorthPointe Family for over 20 years. She has shared a lot of her faith online, through social media posts, verses, encouragements and even in sharing the Sunday Facebook Live stream every week. Linda has shown us how to use social media to invite people to church and leveraged the power of technology to reach those that may not be able to join us in person, because she lived that life before, while caring for her husband. Through it all, she is learning and allowing God to use her story and her life to reach and inspire others for Christ.
Ruben shares his life and his experience of coming to the Lord, after years of running. He talks about the people that made an influence on him and how God continued to pursue him, even in the most unlikely of places.
We know Christians believe Christmas is important, but do all people really understand what the Holiday means? What's the big deal, a baby was born, that happens several times every day, right? What makes Jesus' birth so special and what does it mean for us now, over 2,000 years later. Have we stopped to listen to the words we sing in common Christmas songs? Have we lost the point in the middle of the parties and presents? There's more to Christmas than just a birth or the activities and decorations we use to celebrate...there's more, if you're looking.
Join in the conversation with Ben & Kim as they talk about some of the more confusing parts of the Christmas story. From myths to Christmas song lyrics to what the bible says about that time and how we can celebrate over the truth of a coming Savior and King! We welcome Valentino to Midweek today as he shares about the difficult Christmas season he walked through a last year, through an unexpected separation and ultimate divorce, to learning how to love God and seek him in a different and intentional way. We hear how how that time shaped him and continues to change him into the man God wanted for him to be all along.
Ben & Kim finish up the series on "Progress Not Perfection" talking about Kevin's message on friendships. We can learn so much from the way the early church described it's support, prayer and love for one another. There was prayer that shook the room they were in, there was giving beyond measure, there was meeting regularly to be with each other, there was faith that could do the impossible. We have so much more to learn about how to be good friends, Godly friends, without an expectation of perfection, but a heart to want to love and serve those around you.
