Rise from Rock Bottom - 049
I’m really grateful for my life right now, but there’s no way I would be in this position right now, if it wasn’t for all that pain I endured. When you face challenges, you don’t just rise to where you were before life threw shit bricks at you. You usually rise above it… sometimes higher than you ever thought you would go.When you’re still dealing with the hardship, it can be hard to see the big picture… or any good that could come of it.But the truth is, our biggest challenges can be our greatest gifts. It just depends how you handle it.You can either let an obstacle stop you in your tracks… let the pain takeover. Or you can face them head on and try to find your way around them. Our guest today is Danette May. Leading Health Expert, and the founder of Mindful Health, LLC and The Rise movement. She’s a world renowned motivational speaker, #1 best-selling author of seven health and women empowerment books,Her rise began after losing her son during childbirth, getting divorced, and finding herself with $47 to her name. All one after the other. It was then that she decided to stop being a victim and rewrite her story. She transformed her life from having $47 to her name, to operating as a single mother, to owning a $20 million dollar business helping women around the world. She now has a following of people around the world. We will learn:- how to turn your mess into your message- how to find strength in our weakest moments- the science behind the woo woo like manifestation and money as energy Show notes: https://mindlove.com/049

Loneliness and Connection - 048
Loneliness is a real problem. Lonely people aren’t just sadder, they are actually unhealthier and they die younger.Loneliness raises stress levels, impedes sleep, and makes depression and anxiety worse. And the scariest part is, loneliness is becoming a bigger problem. Ironically, even though we’re more connected than we’ve ever been through technology, in the physical realm, we’re more disconnected than we’ve ever been.America’s suicide rate increased by 25% between 1999 and 2016.So if connecting people across the globe instantly isn’t helping our loneliness, what can we do?Today we talk to Teal Swan, author of several books including The Anatomy of Loneliness: How to Find Your Way Back to Connection. As a survivor of severe childhood abuse, Teal Swan knowns loneliness and depression. But to make things more interesting, she was also born with a range of extrasensory abilities, including clairvoyance, clairsentience, and clairaudience.Today she uses her extrasensory gifts as well as her own harrowing life experience to inspire millions of people towards authenticity, freedom and joy. Her worldwide success has earned her the nickname “The Catalyst. And at the end of this podcast I’m also going to address a little bit of controversy so stay tuned for that.Today we will learn:- What really causes loneliness- Why we push away people close to us- How to begin to find real and lasting connectionShow Notes: https://mindlove.com/048
Body Mindfulness for Stress and Emotional Strength - 045
This is one of those that is full of actionable tips that you can apply immediately to completely change how you feel in a specific situation. Our body will reflect our mood. We all know that our body will slump when we’re feeling defeated or we frown when we are sad, but there’s a lot of research that that can also be reversed… kind of like those times we fake sick at work or school and suddenly we wonder, wait why do I feel blah right now? Or faking a smile can uplift our spirits.Body awareness can help you change your mind and therefore your experience of life. We have the power and choice to improve our physical health, brain functioning, and energy levels, reduce stress, boost happiness, build emotional resilience, and basically improve our quality of life. Our guest today is bestselling author and psychologist Noa Belling. Noa holds a Masters degree in somatic psychology which is body/mind psychology, she has over a decade of teaching this stuff, she runs a private psychotherapy practice and she does talks and workshops as well. She’s also the author of a book called The Mindful Body which is a great book for those of us that like a very scientific approach to mindfulness.P.S. There are some audio glitches for some reason that I couldn’t quite fix so super sorry about that.Today we will learn:- Why and how to add intention to our bodies’ instincts- A ton a really simple but powerful body hacks to actually change our state of consciousness- How to use the body to identify personality types and better connect with peopleShow Notes: https://mindlove.com/045

Hey Melissa!! First, just want to say I love your show - I discovered it a month or so ago and I’ve been binging like crazy!! Second, you mentioned that you finally tried plant medicine and I know you’ve mentioned being curious about it in past episodes, are you willing to do an episode where you tell us about your experience? I’m dying to hear how it went for you! Thanks for everything!

these ladies are just making everything sound way too serious. Dream is just your subconscious. u can control your dream, just like u can control your thoughts. it's that simple 🙄

iM HoU Well if dreams are just our subconscious but our subconscious patterns are some of our most deeply ingrained beliefs that are the hardest to identify and gain control of then it seems to me there could be more to it. For some it feels simple but for others it’s quite difficult.

The loneliness episode was so interesting. I then researched Teal Swan and came across some very disturbing information about her methods and practices. Gizmodo investigated her and many of her methods are quite cult-like. People have left their families and friends behind to go live with her on her compound. Some have committed suicide, which is something she doesn't exactly discourage. She has said that Jim Jones was just trying to help people! I am a faithful listener to Mind Love since the beginning, however I really think that it is important that you address this. It is so easy for people who are vulnerable to fall under the spell of a charismatic figure who says they have special powers and the answers people are seeking. I am not sure that Teal Swan truly has the best interest of her "followers" in mind.

Melissa Monte Thanks for responding Melissa. I understand what you are saying and am happy to hear that you did research the allegations. I was troubled by what I learned about her controversial methods and some of her statements. When people are in a very fragile emotional state to begin with they often look to be rescued , and are vulnerable to falling under the spell of gurus who claim to have the answers they are seeking. I appreciate that you are going to address some of this in a video, only so that people can understand the full picture and also to give a more balanced viewpoint from the Mind Love perspective. Ultimately people make their own choices and interpretations, but some listeners may be coming from dark places in their lives, drawn to your message of hope. It can only help them to know that you are aware of the controversy, whether unfounded or not. Thank you Melissa!!!

Beth McManus Hey Beth! I actually went on a 3 day rabbit hole of researching Teal Swan because I found out about this right before the episode was aired. I realize her views of death are fairly controversial but after my experience with plant medicine, mine are actually similar. I listened to the entire Gizmodo podcast and a lot of the things they mentioned I feel we’re unsubstantiated. As far as claims of being a cult, there are specific characteristics that make a cult and her communal living facility don’t adhere to any of those things. I spoke with her about this as well. The woman who committed suicide has a history of depression, the woman’s husband doesn’t believe teal to be at fault and the woman also has a therapist... who was not blamed. Teal Swan still feels very torn up about it. I thought about addressing this but I didn’t want to add to bad press I personally didn’t believe to be true. Teal is a ton of wisdom to share and millions of people who love her teachings... I don’t really believe in vilifying someone for sensationalized stories. Anyways, this is long winded because I have a lot of thoughts, but in the end here’s my point: of we listened to each other more we would realize that maybe each of us has at least one vital thing to share with the world. I think a huge part of the human experience is to learn to live by our own values and to learn to take what’s of value to us and reject that which does not serve us. Maybe I handled this right, maybe I didn’t, but I’m learning as I go. Teal Swan also shared a stage with Gabrielle Bernstein and a bunch of high profile spiritual leaders as well... so... I felt validated in sharing her wisdom. I think I’ll try to make a video on Instagram about my findings on this. Thanks for bringing it up!

This one really spoke to a part of me that is hiding deep-seated issues; shame, abandonment. I have to find a way to work through all of it, find some help. I did appreciate the lack of the false forced positivity about things that are beyond that way of being.
