In our final episode of this season of Mind Made Matter, we're discussing meaning and purpose. How can we find real meaning and purpose in our lives? To help us unpack these ideas, we'll be looking at some excerpts from an interview that journalist and broadcaster Piers Morgan did, with Stephen C. Meyer, a scientist and well known advocate of intelligent design. That video was titled "Can This Man PROVE That God Exists?", and you can watch the full video here. Although skeptics and atheists might argue that faith makes no sense from an intellectual standpoint, many of us who have examined faith through the lens of science, philosophy and reason have come to a different conclusion - that faith in a creator makes complete sense. Simon Edwards is one of those people; despite not being raised in a Christian home, when he really started asking the big questions of life he found that having a faith was entirely logical and sensible. Simon was raised in Brisbane, Australia and for the last 10 years has been living in the UK with his wife Tash and three kids. He is currently a speaker and writer with The Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics (OCCA), where his work focuses on presenting and defending the Christian faith in a way that engages with the big questions of our culture. Simon and Tash are also the co-pastors of Venture Church in Buckinghamshire. Prior to moving to the UK, Simon worked as a lawyer and holds qualifications in Law, Economics, Education and Theology, and is the author of ‘The Sanity of Belief: Why Faith Makes Sense’. You can find more content from Simon, and purchase 'The Sanity of Belief: Why Faith Makes Sense’ at OCCA's resource page. You can also purchase Simon's book through Koorong or Amazon (where it also available for Kindle and as an audio book). Follow Simon on X (Twitter). In this episode we're looking at some questions that skeptics have about God and Christian faith. It's pretty obvious that there were no photocopiers back when the New Testament was being written and compiled. That meant that people called scribes had to make new copies by hand. We know that from time to time, scribes made mistakes. Do these mistakes compromise the integrity of the Gospel? What if those mistakes were made deliberately to change the meaning? How accurate are the original manuscripts of the New Testament? That's what we'll be looking at in this episode. We'll also look at author and skeptic Bart Ehrman, and his book 'Misquoting Jesus'. Today's episode is all about proving the existence of God through mathematics. Can maths actually explain God? Can something that both exists in our minds, but also explains both extremely simple and complex patterns in nature and the universe point to God? We'll also dive into some quick fire questions, asking if the Bible supports slavery. Check out the Mind Made Matter episode 'It All Adds Up to God' for more information about maths, and specifically, the Mandelbrot Set. In a recent Tik Tok video, an atheist asked Christians to stop trying to save her as she was happy to go to hell. Her argument was that if atheists are happy to go to hell, then atheists can go about their business without being bothered by Christians. But should we save people from judgement? That's what we're discussing in this episode of Mind Made Matter. Mind Made Matter is written and presented by Ken Green, and is a production of Brisbane's 96five.
