This week kicks off with a full-throated defense of the new Resident Evil movie--because it's awesome, actually-- and a bigger question: why does anyone expect Resident Evil to be serious? It's always been camp. That's the point. Sit down. From there we get into the etiquette of announcing you're dating a cougar (there's a right moment, we promise,) celebrate Jordon's birthday and the single greatest gift ever bestowed upon a man-- a pizza axe-- and recap Ripley and Jordon's adventures at the Dirty Birdie. Then, Jordon returns with a spectrum update that against all odds, got worse, which Ripley somehow ties to the literacy crisis. We also work out life's greatest cheat codes: being a decent human or being decently pretty will get you disturbingly far.Plus: a rant about people who talk on the phone while ordering coffee and food. It's rude and that's a hill we will die on. Finally, a debate that cannot be settled: Ripley maintains Jordon has never seen a woman, while the doctor disagrees. You decide. Hello Mindless Friends! This week, we are sneezing cat hair off every surface and dusting our way through this episode. We tackle the hard questions like, Does your google search history expose your OCD, and why was Target the appropriate venue for an incident with boobies? Then, we're off to Scotland with theories about where the beavers went and Jordon regales us with questions about birds. Plus: homeownership continues to be a slow-motion trap painting cabinets is a personal attack, and Jordon shares his thoughts on Resonance-- a geuinely great video game that is also actively trying to defeat you. Grab a lint roller and settle in; it's a weird one! If you want to see more head on over to mindlessprattle.com. This week, we're running on moving box fumes and existential questions. We get into the special kind of exhaustion that is relocating your entire life, dig into Pursuit of Jade, and settle the debate no one asked us to: would an apex predator actually want to sparkle like Edward Cullen? (Spoiler: Predators do not need rhinestones to be terrifying.)And then, because we're clearly in our rage era, we close out on the great modern scam-- companies that let you sign up in 3 seconds but make canceling feel like a hostage negotiation. Just let us leave!Grab a drink and settle in to prattle with us! If you want to see more head on over to mindlessprattle.com. This episode could alternatively be called "Exhaustion, part two: the packing continues." And so goes our slow descent into cardboard-box madness. This one's recorded while Ripley is fresh with nerves over an impending job interview which cues the eternal question of what the heck does one wear to a job interview?! Then, our hosts get into Soulframe, and the (genuinely) momentous news that Ripley finally got new pants as well as the special frustration of dealing with someone whose communication style changes every five minutes. Some joy is found in letting strangers touch your belongings, while other things do not fill us with joy. These things include: Jordon's personal vendetta against Dutch Bros, the mystery of Five Guys pricing model, and the broader existential question of WHY is EVERYTHING so EXPENSIVE?? Come for the pants update, stay for the economic despair. If you want to see more head on over to mindlessprattle.com. This week, we're running on fumes and cardboard boxes because nothing says "quality-podcast-prep" like moving-and-packing exhaustion. Jordon had us make a list of meats and rank them by how much we love them (a scientifically rigorous process, obviously). Jordon had to bring up his revulsion for boiled peanuts-- the taste, the texture, but especially the smell. If you like viral Chinese movies, questioning the existence of a chain of convenience stores, and the shared sensory adventure of Ripley and Jordon discovering some very real, very rotten pumpkins that were absolutely not plastic decorations.Come for the meat rankings, stay for the pumpkin rot.
