Minds Matter Portland is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to transform the lives of accomplished high school students from low-income families by broadening their dreams and preparing them for college success. Our goal is to equip high school students with the tools to gain acceptance to a four-year university and navigate the financial aid process. Meet Ana: Future Portland Sports Marketing Manager

Join us for our first episode as we interview outgoing Jefferson HS senior graduate Jaliyah Jointer. Jaliyah reflects upon her time with Minds Matter of Portland; freshman year interviews, cross country flights to attend college summer programs, the mentor & mentee relationships and utilizing MMPDX resources to navigate senior year college applications. As, she prepares to start her freshman year at Grambling State University an HBCU in Grambling, Louisiana, she will discuss her many dreams and goals which include: majoring in psychology, obtaining a Phd, becoming a Marriage & Family Therapist, opening her own private practice and helping under-served communities get mental health help that they need.
