This letter will embody your willingness to banish the ego’s attack and awaken to a new clear mind. Get clear about a person or organization you’ve been resenting greatly. Maybe you’re holding on to anger toward a past employer. Or maybe you’re resentful of your opposing political party. Holding on to these resentments won’t serve you or the world. Get honest with yourself about the ways your resentment has been holding you back from stepping into your true service. How has your ego held you back from forgiving? In what ways has this resentment negatively affected your life? How has this resentment held you back from living your life? How has this resentment held you back form living in your power an sharing your light with the world? Let your realization of the ego’s negative impacts become the impetus for you to go ahead and surrender to writing the letter. There is no right or wrong way to write this letter. Whenever I start a new company or start working with someone on their business, the first thing I always do is map out the customer’s value ladder. It helps to give you a vision of how you plan on serving your dream customers and where you want to take them. It helps you figure out the real purpose for your company: the main goal or result that you are trying to help them achieve. This starts with defining the result that your dream customer will be coming to you to achieve. I call this your “value ladder mission statement.” or VLMS, and I break it down like this. We help (insert who) to (insert result they want to achieve) through (insert your new opportunity). Who is the person you want to serve? We have talked a lot about your dream customers so far in this series. We build everything inside of this value ladder to attract and serve them. What is the result you can provide for your dream customer? What is it that they have been unsuccessfully trying to accomplish before entering your world that you know you can solve when you have a change to serve them? What is your new opportunity that you want to offer them? What is the offer that you are providing the that is different from the things they have tried in the past when attempting to achieve this same result? After you’ve defined that for your value ladder, everything you create will be moving people towards the next step. Every offer you create at each step of the value ladder will be helping to achieve that core goal. Every day, as you’re scrolling through your Facebook newsfeed, checking your email, or searching to find something on Google, there are hundreds of business owners who are throwing out “hooks” with a goal to grab your attention long enough that they can tell you their story. The hook are the headlines, images, ad videos that we put in front of our dream customers wherever they are congregating, with a goal to capture their attention just long enough that we can tell them our story. I call these hooks “Enquirer Interrupts” Because they remined me of being at the grocery store and walking through the checkout stand, where one of the headlines from the tabloids grabs my attention. Your job online is almost the same. You are going to the busiest places online, where your dream customers are congregating and throwing out dozens of hooks, with a goal to capture the attention of those people, just long enough that you can tell them a story, and then make them a special offer. The hook doesn’t provide any value by itself, but it grabs attention for the story, and each story could have dozen of different hooks. Every story you put into the market has dozens of potential hooks that you could be throwing out. We never know which ones will grabs your market’s attention, so it’s important that we keep throwing out hooks until you find the ones that effectively hook your dream customer. Hook , Story, Offer. After you know who your dream customers is, and you’ve identified where they are congregating, this is the bait that will get them to come into your world so you can serve them and change their lives with the business that you’ve built. We all have a story to tell or many stories that we need to tell. Those are the stories that we need to tell to get people to buy what you are selling. Your stories is what will bond you and your customers together. Your stories are what will make people relate to who you are and what you are selling to them. Most people think that telling stories are not important but if you do not tell your story how can they relate? The truth is they cannot. How can they trust that you know how they feel and what their needs are if you are not willing to tell your story that you were in the same position as they currently are. I know what you are thinking but I sell homes or an RV how does story telling make a difference. The answer is look at why are you selling those things and that is the story you want to share when you are showing people homes or that new RV. Do you remember the first home you bought or lived in? Do you remember the happy memories of a home that you lived in? Again that is a story you can share? Let’s look at selling RV’s do you have a camping story that makes you happy? Did you take an RV trip that brought joy to your life? These are all stories that you can share and they will bring you closer to your customers. How does the story telling build trust or bond you with your customers. The answer is simple it takes them on a journey from where they are now, that same place you were at the start of your story, to the place they want to be, that is where you currently on. Your story tells them that you have been in their shoes and you know how to take them to that place they want to be. When you get good at story telling you take each and every person who hears your story on a path that you went on and you give them hope that if you can achieve what you have achieved they can as well. You give them an “AHA” moment. You give them a reason to trust and believe. Take the time and write down your story to why you are doing what you are doing. Write as much detail, write down your struggles and write the end result and how that has changed your life. That is what your customer will buy. The product or service matters very little because if your customers cannot relate to the story and you they will never buy into your product or service. Write your story. At this point in the secret formula, you should know exactly who you want to serve, and you should have started to identify the places that your dream customers are congregating online. Now it’s your job to create bait that will bring those dream customers into your world. The way we do that is through a framework that I call Hook, Story, Offer. Every step in your business should have a hook, story and an offer. The ads you place online, the emails you send, the landing pages your create, as well as any upsells, webinars, or phone calls you make, will all have a hook, a story, and an offer. If something isn’t working in your business, it’s always either the hook, the story, or the offer. This framework is the key to your success online, so I want to dive deeper into how to create hooks that will grab your dream customers, how to tell stories to increase the value of your offer, and how to create and present an offer in a way that people have to say yes, Even though it’s called Hook, Story, Offer, I want to actually start with the offer first. After we talk about how we create an irresistible offer, then we’ll talk about how to craft a story that will increase the value of that offer, and lastly we’ll talk about the hooks we will create to grab someone’s attention long enough that they will listen to your story. Your Irresistible Offer If you’re following this series, then you likely already have a product or a service that you are selling or would like to sell online and you want to figure out how you can sell a lot more. If you don’t have a business yet, and are trying to figure out what you should sell to be successful online, then these are the three core categories that almost every business online falls into: You’re selling a physical products: This could be anything from supplements to flashlights to TV’s or more. Any type of physical product that you would ship out to someone after they order. You’re selling an information product: These are my authors, speakers, coaches or consultants (or affiliates selling these products for others). These products often include digital courses, membership sites, live events and training. You’re selling a service: May of my local brick and mortar companies like restaurants, dentists, chiropractors, Realtors, and financial planners would put themselves in this bucket, but it’s also true for online services like software, design work, etc… I hope that listening to this podcast has been a great investment of your time. Once you’ve hooked your dream customer with the perfect offer, the last question is what result or value do you want to give them? We are not talking about what product or service you want to sell them. A business is not about product or services. A business is about what result you can get for your clients. Once you (and they) understand that concept, the price is no longer a barrier. You need to understand that many of your customers may not be able to pay for your top level service (which is why you should develop other products or services), but understanding where you ultimately want to take the dream customer is the key to this step. Take a moment to imagine that your dream client could pay you anything to get a desired result. What, then, would you do to help guarantee their success? Where would you lead them? What does that place look like? Keep that place in your mind; it’s the pinnacle of success for your clients. It’s where you want to take them. The framework for this step of the secret formula is called “the value ladder.” It will be broken down in greater detail later in the series and I will show you how to ascend your customers so you can make more money and they can receive more value. That’s it. The four questions to the secret formula, again, are as follows; Who is your dream customer? Where are they congregating? What is the bait that you can use to attract them to you? Once you know where your dream customer are, you have to create the right hook to grab their attention. The hooks are the ads that will grab the attention of your dream customers just long enough for you to tell them a story. The goal of the story is to build rapport with them as well as break the false beliefs they have that would keep them from taking you up on your offer. The offer is the thing you’ve created for your dream customer so you can give them the results they desire. If you do this step correctly, it will repel the customers you don’t want to serve and attract the right customers to you. So you need to crate the offer that will attract your dream customer. You know the two customers we created in the last part of this series, Remember mine were Jessica and Brodie. When you figure out what your dream clients want, it becomes very easy to attract them. Through out this series we are going to talk more about creating the right offer. But for now, just realize the offer has to match what your dream customer wants. Because this step in the formula has its own framework (called “Hook, Story, and Offer”). We will dive deeper into that later in the series. Question #2: Where are your dream customers congregating? The second question in this secret formula is where can you find your dream customer? Where are they already congregating online? The greatest power of the internet is the power of congregations. Groups of people gathering in little corners of the internet make it possible for people like you and me to get into business quickly ad be successful without all the barriers and expensive hurdles of traditional media. When you hear the word congregation, what’s the first thing that pops into your head? For most people, the word congregation brings to mind a church. A church is really nothing more than a group of people who gather based on similar interest. If you were selling a perfect product to someone who attends church than you would find your dream customer there in one place. All you’d have to do is put your message out in front of them, and if you made a good offer, some of them would buy. I want to stop here before this analogy goes any deeper, because my point is not to teach you how to sell things to churches. I just want you to understand the power of a congregation because it’s one of the main reason the internet is such an amazing tool for business. Remember prior to the internet it was hard for people around the world to congregate. We were limited by location and ability to communicate. But now it’s possible for anyone and everyone to congregate and discuss almost anything with groups of people who have similar interest. There are congregations online for everything you can dream up. What are the online congregation that you participate in? My guess is there are at least a dozen or more things that you’re interested in, and you have a special place on the internet to go be with your people and talk about what’s important to you. I want you to now start thinking about congregations as they relate back to your dream customer. What are the congregations that they are already participating in? Start asking yourself these questions: What are the top websites that your dream customer already go to? What forums or message boards do they participate in? Where are the Facebook groups they participate in? Who are the influencers they follow on Facebook and Instagram? What podcast do they listen to? What are the email newsletters they are subscribed to? What blogs do they read? What channels are they following on YouTube? What keywords are they searching for in Google to find information? Once you understand the core concept of congregations, driving traffic becomes incredibly easy. My job as a marketer is to figure out who it is You want to serve, and then figure out where they are already congregating. Have you ever asked yourself this one powerful question that could change everything for you, “Who is your dream customer?” I can bet up to this point in your business, you have never asked yourself this question. Most people are trying to sell to anyone and everyone they can. Most people put all their focus and all their efforts on creating a good product without any though about who you actually want to serve. While focusing on the product sounds smart at first, it can leave you tired, frustrated, and empty inside. If you were to pick your dream customer, who are they, what do they look like, and what are the offers you could create that would attract them? This is also the first question you need to ask yourself when starting your new company or making the shift to truly grow your existing company. Question #1: Who is your dream customer? The first question you have to ask yourself is, Who do I actually want to work with? Most people start with a product idea, never thinking about who we want as clients or customers, yet these are the people you will be interacting with day in and day out. You’ll oftentimes spend more time with these people than your own friends and family. Hell, we pick our life partners more carefully, so why wouldn’t you take the same time and care in deciding who your dream client or customer will be? If you’re just getting started, this may not seem important. But I promise you that if you don’t consciously choose your dream client, one day you will wake up and find that you are working with people who exhaust you and wishing that someone could fire you from the business you created. I don’t want it to take you years to figure this out. I want you to sit back and actually think about the who. I want you to realize that you have been overlooking some pretty important questions such as: Who are your dream clients? What do they look like? What are their goals, dreams, and desires? What are the offers you could create that would attract them and repel everyone else? Now you really want you to think about the who question. Once you have done that you need to create two customer avatars: one for the men you want to work with and one for the women you want to work with. Now its time for you understand the basics behind how to attract the perfect clients, I want to walk you through a framework that I call “The Secret Formula.” Inside this next series , I am going to go deeper into each piece of this process, but I wanted to introduce it to you now so you know where we are heading in this series. The secret formula askes four simple questions that serve as the guide for everything we’ll be doing inside this series. Question #1: Who is your dream customer? If you could pick your dream customer, the type of person who would make you wake up every morning on fire because you’re so excited to work with them, what would they look like? The better you can identify this person, the easier it will be for you to find them. Question #2: Where are they congregating? After we know who we are looking for, the next step is to find out where they are hiding, Where are they spending their time online? When I can identify exactly where they are online, getting them into your program becomes easy. Question #3: What is the bait that you can use to attract them to you? Now that you know where they are, your job is to throw out hooks to try to grab their attention. After you have their attention, you tell them a story to build a relationship and increase the perceived value of what you have to offer, and then you need to make them an actual offer to get them into your world. Question #4: What is the unique result that you can create for them? After they have come into your world, what other things can you do to help give them the results they are looking for? People don’t come to you because they want your program, they come to you because they want a specific result. So what is the process you will take them thought to give them more value so you can serve them at a higher level and give them a result that will truly change their life? These four simple questions will not only be the framework for this series, but everything else you learn inside of this your journey of having an online business. These are the same four questions that I ask everyone who hires me for personal consultations, I help them to understand and implement this formula, as well as the script writing and webinar making to help move people through the value ladder of your programs. Now that you have created your presentation and the steps that people will go through to get your message, the next question is, “How do you get into your Webinar? What is the fuel that will ignite your following so you can start a mass movement?” In this part of the series we will talk about filling your webinar and mention some other things you can do to jump-start your success as an expert. How do you create traffic? Chet Holmes, came up with this concept called, “Dream 100” The first step in this Dream 100 is to go back and remember when you created you new niche. You started with the the three hot markets (Health, wealth, and relationships). From there, you drilled down into a sub-niche inside of one of those markets. Then within that sub-niche, you created your new opportunity. You found that the key to your Dream 100 was to step back from your niche and go back up to the sub-market level. Inside of that submarket are all the niches where your traffic is already congregating. All you needed to do was figure out WHO was controlling that traffic. WHERE TO FIND YOUR DREAM 100 You need to realize that the people who control your traffic are typically one of four types: List owners, bloggers, podcasters, or social media influencers (including YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc.) You need to start searching and find list owners with email lists of 20,000 to 200,000 or more of your dream customers! Bloggers and podcasters who had millions of readers and listeners and social media influencers who could drive tens of thousands of clicks to anything they wanted to talk about. Initially, you should try to find 25 list owners in your submarket, 25 bloggers, 25 podcasters, and 25 social media influencers. After you fill out that list, you will have the 100 people who already have the attention of those you want to serve. Then you put together a plan to infiltrate your Dream 100. Your first goal is to start building relationships with your dream 100. The WORST time to contact your Dream 100 is the day you need them to promote something for you. The best time to start building the relationship is NOW. So when you are ready to ask them to promote you, that relationship will already be there. EPIPHANY BRIDGE PRODUCT LAUNCH To pull this off you should record an intro video telling your origin story, then have them opt in for the rest of the videos in the sequence. Then video #1 became Secret #1, which told them about the new opportunity. Secret #2 focused on their internal beliefs, and secret #3 their external beliefs. Then video #4 was just a video of you doing the stack. This will work amazingly well. Once someone comes through your webinar, have them go through the product launch sequence instead. That way, those who didn’t get a change to consume your message can get it in a different format they may be more likely to watch. EPIPHANY SOAP OPERA SEQUENCE One of your biggest breakthroughs will happen when you realize that you can use this Perfect Webinar process in all areas of your marketing, including email. The Soap Opera Sequences (SOS), which are the emails you send to someone when they first join your list. Each soap opera sequence email ends with a hook that draws them to the next episode, just like a soap opera does. There are a few different ways that you can successfully use this so far. The first was just writing out each story for the emails. The second way was making videos telling each of the stories, and then linking to the video inside of the emails. Honestly the way they receive the story matter less then following the actual story structure that you learned about earlier in this series. One of the keys to remember in soap opera sequence like this is that each email needs to pull people into the next story in the next email. Think about how good soap operas, reality shows and most shows on TV are able to pull you through the commercial breaks and week to week by getting you excited by what is about to happen, then cutting it off. You will do the same thing in these email, teasing about the next email that’s coming so they are anxiously waiting for it. The webinar process and the Perfect Webinar scripts you’ve just learned works really well for offers between $297 and $2,997. But when you’re selling more expensive offers, you need to add another step. Instead of just sending people to an order form, send them to a page where they fill out an application. Then get on the phone and interview them to see if they’d be a good fit for the program. This works for two reasons. REASON #1 It’s much easier to sell a $2,997 -$100,000 program on the phone. That extra steps help people feel more comfortable paying the higher dollar amounts. REASON #2 At the higher-level programs, you are typically going to be working more closely with people. You can screen them to make sure you’ll enjoy working with them. If they aren’t a good fit, then don’t except them into your program. THE 4- QUESTIONS CLOSE SCRIPT This is going to be more like a 4 phase script. There are four primary questions, but you will be asking follow-up questions to dig deeper and get more complete answers. Before the prospects get on the phone with you, they fill out an application form so you can pre-qualify them. Then you should have an assistant contact them to set up a 30 minute call. Once you’re on the call, most people will want to open with small talk. That invites them to ramble on and waste time. you don’t want that. You want to set yourself up as the one running the call right from the start. So you’re going to say. “Hey, this is __________(Your Name) and I’m excited to be on the call with you. So here’s how these calls work. I’m going to ask you four questions. Depending on how you answer them and how well we get along, we’ll decide whether to move forward. Sound fair enough?” They should answer “Yes”. or the call can end right there. You’re getting a micro-commitment here, a little yes right at the start. You’re also setting the ground rules so you can steer the conversation where you want it to go. Once they agree, it’s time to start asking the questions. As we move along in the series I want you to take a moment and look at how far you have come. You’ve started your own mass movement by identifying your attractive character, creating your future-based cause, and creating your new opportunity. You’re learned how to create belief by telling stories the right way. You’ve built out a sales presentation that tells your stories in a way that will create intense desire for people to buy in to your new opportunity. And you’ve learned to create a stack that will cause them to take action. The next step is getting the right people to come into a selling environment where you can deliver your message and reencourage people to follow. We are going to look into finding qualified prospects. That’s what this next part of the series is all about. It's the fuel for your fire. When you master this piece, you’ll have a constant stream of people to share your message with. For those who have been in this information business for a while, this part of the series will be counterintuitive. You will fight me on it, because in the past you’ve made money by creating an offer, selling it to your audience, then creating another product the next month to sale to those same people (this is how most experts run their business these day). When I tell you that you need to do that EXACT same webinar every week for the next 12 months (minimum), you’re going to think I’m crazy. So , what should you be dong differently? I have used two types of closes in my presentations. The first type, “trial closes”, I use almost every 50 seconds or less. The other I use throughout the stack. You’ll want to use both kinds in your presentations as well. Let’s take a look at each of them and how they work. TRIAL CLOSES A trial close is when you get your audience to think or say yes over and over again throughout your presentation. The more you can get them to say yes, the more likely they will accept the epiphany you’ve shared with them and the offer presented. Trial closers are a huge part of telling effective stories. You need to consider this your secret weapon. When I started using the STACK I started using it immediately and went from closing an average 5–10% of a room at a live event to consistently closing 40% or more. Then I started using it on my sales webinars and saw a dramatic increase in sales each time. It’s worked so well and so consistently that I will never give a sales presentation again without it. The big idea is that the only thing prospects remember when you sell is the last thing you showed them. Let me explain that most sales presentations focus on the core offer, then a list of bonuses and a call to action.
