Description

There are things we think we know about countries. But viral videos, TikTok and 24 hour news has made everything we understand about other places somewhat misinformed, twisted or just downright incorrect.

Which is why, the hosts of Cerca's Passport, Neil Innes and Andrés Bartos, have decided to take this misinformation and turn it on its head, upside down, the wrong way round and inside out.

Neil and Dré want to clear up some of the outright lies about nations we think we know by doing what they do best. Talking it out with someone who actually does know what they’re talking about.

Think of this as a kind of cultural mythbusters.

Welcome, to MisInfoNation.

While Dré is away, we've been rebroadcasting some of our favorite MisInfoNation episodes. This one isn't just one of our favorites though, it's an episode that's really important to Neil and Dré and all of us at MIN HQ. It's the episode where we knew this show could actually do what we hoped it would - challenge stereotypes and help us look deeper than headlines. And right now, the headlines are everywhere.Especially from this part of the world. We know It won’t solve any crisis —but maybe, just maybe, it’ll offer a little more understanding of the real decent people who have to carry their nationality much more heavily than most. And if nothing else, there are a lot of laughs. And right now, we could all use a few more of those.---This week on MisInfoNation we talk to Sohail Jannessari about what could be the most misunderstood country on the planet. Iran. A political scientist with a cutting sense of humour, Sohail takes on some of the most divisive questions about Iran and Iranians.Today we turn the view of Iran that’s been shaped by Western media upside-down. From the food, to the etiquette, the oppression of women, how to guarantee you’ll get into a fight, who pays the bill and the weight of being from a nation with an incredibly negative media slant - which sometimes turns Sohail into the Incredible Hulk. Plus, should you travel to Iran if you’re American? We can’t think of a more important place to understand a little better.CONNECT WITH SOHAILOn the Web - https://www.sohailj.com----CONNECT WITH US!On instagram: @passportpodcast | @cerca_travel On the web: cercatravel.com/misinfonation---At Cerca, our goal is to help you explore the world like never before. While Dré takes some time to share his cinematic wares with the world, Neil takes us back to where MisInfoNation all began. A conversation with a Scotsman named English helps Neil and Andrés understand just how much they don't understand about Scotland. Enjoy!---On our inaugural episode of MisInfoNation, we’re heading to Scotland to find out what the world gets wrong, about one of the most drop-dead, absolutely gorgeous countries on the planet… and what it gets right. We’ll digest the truth about Haggis (so you can decide if you ever would), the story behind Irn-Bru, if there’s anything the Scots won’t deep fry, how they feel about Donald Trump’s heritage, and what’s really going on under a kilt. Also, we’ll discover the absolute best view in all of Scotland.  We laugh a lot during this episode, fittingly, because the Scots take great pride in their sense of humor. Which explains their choice of national animal. Be sure to listen to that. ---CONNECT WITH OUR GUESTS!John English - https://twitter.com/OtoxoProductionOtoxo - https://www.otoxoproductions.com/----CONNECT WITH US!On instagram: @passportpodcast | @cerca_travel On the web: cercatravel.com/misinfonationFIND OUT MORE ABOUT…Haggis - https://www.greatbritishchefs.com/recipes/traditional-haggis-recipeLoch Ness - https://www.visitscotland.com/destinations-maps/loch-ness/IrnBru - https://foodanddrink.scotsman.com/drink/16-facts-about-irn-bru/Where to buy a kilt and all the stuff that goes with it - https://www.thescotlandkiltcompany.co.uk/Rumbledethumps - https://www.thespruceeats.com/rumbledethumps-recipe-435824---At Cerca, our goal is to help you explore the world like never before. Hey there, Neil here. At Misinformation, we love great stories, new cultures, and taking you to the heart of a place. Today, we’re sharing a show that does all that—with a little more vino. It’s called Wine Tripping, hosted by Amanda McCrossin, a certified sommelier and one of the most influential voices in the wine world—and honestly, our new favorite travel companion.Amanda takes you behind the scenes into the cellars, fields, and kitchens that make wine regions unforgettable. In this episode, you’ll join her on an exclusive trip to Tuscany in a special preview of an episode that hasn’t even aired yet. Because MIN listeners are the best - and you deserve to be treated to a glass or two, even if we can only do it through a podcast. It’s rich, fun, —and yes, you’ll probably want a glass of red by the end. So without further ado, here’s Wine Tripping with Amanda McCrossin. Cheers!---Confession time: despite Italian wines having a reputation as some of the most legendary wines to ever fill a stemmed glass, Amanda had always been lukewarm on them.  They just didn’t stir her imagination that way other regions did. That is until she was invited to visit Tuscany by one of the OG producers of Brunello di Montalcino - Biondi-Santi. And once she stepped foot on their vineyard, breathed the Tuscan air and tasted the food while sipping from her glass, Amanda finally fell for Italian wines (and also,  you know, Italy). So on this episode of Wine Tripping, Amanda whisks you away to the rolling hills of Tuscany, where every bottle tells a story of place, tradition, and a little bit of Italian magic.Ever wondered why Italian wine labels never mention the grape? Or what BDT, IGT, DOC, and DOCG mean? After this trip, you’ll be able to decode them like a pro. Amanda cracks open the secrets of Italian wine regions, from the sun-drenched vineyards of Chianti to the storied cellars of Montalcino, explains why Sangiovese is the soul of Tuscany, and gives you some must-know tips on how to survive those winding Tuscan roads,So pour yourself a glass, press play, and get ready to fall in love with Italy—one region, one grape, and one unforgettable story at a time. For more, check out Amanda on…Instagram - @sommvivantTikTok - @somm_vivantand on the web - sommvivant.me----Wine Tripping is Written, Hosted, and Produced by Amanda McCrossin, and Produced by Neil Innes.Editing and Sound Design by Neil Innes with additional help from Ryan HammondMixing and Mastering by Julian KwasneskiExecutive Produced by Stacey Book, Dominique Ferrari, and Avi Glijansky----At Cerca, our goal is to help you explore the world like never before. Today, we head north—way north—to Canada. Land of maple syrup, jaw-dropping wilderness, and people so polite they say sorry when you bump into them. But what’s really going on beneath the surface? Joining us are two brilliant Canadian storytellers with global roots: Hirad “Raz” Motamed and Adam Leverett. Born in Iran and the UK respectively, raised in snowy suburbia, and shaped by immigrant identity, they take us deep into the heart of the Great White North. How “nice” is Canada really? Why does Canadian humor hit different? And is patriotism just “being not-American”?CONNECT WITH HIRAD!On the Web - http://www.hirad.xyz/CONNECT WITH ADAM!On the Web - www.vinyett.com----CONNECT WITH US!On instagram: @passportpodcast | @cerca_travel On the web: cercatravel.com/misinfonation---At Cerca, our goal is to help you explore the world like never before. Today on MisInfoNation, it's all great craic, endless rolling fields of potatoes, perfectly poured pints of Guinness, lucky four-leaf clovers, and magical pots of gold just waiting patiently at the end of every shimmering rainbow—or at least that's what the postcards and leprechauns might have you believe. But is that the real Ireland, or just the sparkly stereotype? To separate fact from folklore and reality from rosy-hued fantasy, we've invited the snappily dressed, lightning-fast-witted, effortlessly hilarious, and genuinely brilliant designer extraordinaire Rachel Fingleton to set us straight (and keep us laughing) as she guides our delightfully clueless selves through her captivating homeland.CONNECT WITH RACHEL!On the Web - https://www.rachelfingleton.com/----CONNECT WITH US!On instagram: @passportpodcast | @cerca_travel On the web: cercatravel.com/misinfonation---At Cerca, our goal is to help you explore the world like never before. Hola Passport faithful! Neil, Dré, and the Passport team are busy cooking up some new episodes of MisInfoNation - and maybe even a few other surprises, too. But in the meantime, we wanted to share a new show that we really love. Because we think you'll love it too.Don't Drink the Milk mixes history with a good dose of travel, pop culture, and controversy. The show explores the curious backstories of familiar things, and how they've changed as they moved through time and around the world – by force, by chance, or by choice. This episode takes us to Krakow tracing the origins of one of Team Passport's favorite foods. The bagel! Here's what they say:The bagel is in its rainbow era, but this beloved bread's journey goes way back. We're rounding off season one with a dense, doughy episode that's both scrumptious and surprising. We trace the humble bagel's roots to medieval Poland and follow its North American makeover (are you team New York or Montreal?). A snack for queens, laborers and trendsetters – here's the real story of the bagel. We hope you enjoy this episode, and if you do, why not give 'em a follow. You can binge all of Season 1 now and catch up just in time for the Season 2 in June.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
