Discipleship never ends; the goal is to continually grow and to teach others. Obstacles often include lack of interest, time, and confidence, but God uses simple faithfulness to multiply disciples. John concludes that Jesus—not any person—is the true model of discipleship, and the Great Commission calls every believer to be engaged in this lifelong work.
