We're delighted to be bringing you one of our long-time favourite audio dramas - the wild and wonderful science-fantasy-western Midst. But before that, we sat down with the show's three mysterious creators Xen, Sara and Matt, to have a good old chat about the making of both Midst and Mockery Manor! We've been fans of each others' shows from their very beginnings, and it was such a pleasure to finally meet them. A little about Midst: The small desert planet of Midst spins on the border between two halves of the cosmos: the dazzling Un and the mysterious Fold. Life is simple for most of the planet’s inhabitants… until an influential civilization known as the Trust takes an interest in Midst and sparks an unexpected chain of events, intertwining the lives of three complicated antiheroes. Also, unrelated to any of that, Midst’s moon is about to fall out of the sky and cause reality to eat itself alive, so that’s not great either. Unsolved murders, cult brainwashing, and supernatural darkness all combine to create a clusterfuck of cosmic proportions. As always, you can find Midst wherever you get your podcasts. New Episodes of Midst release every Wednesday on your favorite podcast streaming platform, the Critical Role YouTube Channel, and for subscribers on Midst.co Subscribe to Midst Support Lindsay and Laurence on Ko-fi! Pledge to support Mockery Manor: The Murder Mystery Game on Kickstarter! Hello listeners! It's Laurence and Lindsay LongCat here to tell you about our how we're raising funds RIGHT NOW to make “Mockery Manor: the Murder Mystery Game!” That's right, we're making a game for you to play at home, based in and around Mockery Manor theme park. The game is set in 1989, two years after season 3. It's Halloween Spooky Nights, and a staff member has gone missing. It's up to YOU to find out what happened, and hunt down the culprit. Mockery Manor: the Murder Mystery Game is for one to four players, and has the feel of an escape room – except it's not just one room covered in clues, it's the whole of Mockery Manor theme park! Delivered straight to your living room. (Or lounge for our US listeners) You'll receive an A4 envelope with over 30 pieces of evidence. This includes ephemera from the park, such as a map, a Khyber Fastpass, postcards, a menu from the Unidentified Frying Objects diner, documents stolen from the office of personnel manager Davina Strangelove, a booklet entitled 'Bette Armstrong's Guide to Deduction', and more! There are puzzles aplenty, and clues that connect to one another to form a bigger picture. And of course, there's an audio aspect! The envelope has a QR code that takes you a state-of-the-art 1998 website, where you can find recordings of staff members and guests. Figure out who sounds suspicious, what they might be hiding, and why. The 'audio recordings' include a grand finale that you unlock with the correct solution. A grand finale that's as thrilling as the climactic scenes of our three seasons. We really want to make this game. And we can do it if we reach our Kickstarter goal by December the 12th. You can give as little as £1, or you can pledge £20 and receive the game as a reward. It all depends on hitting our target - £2300 - by December 12th. So, if you'd like to find out more about the game, and pledge to help make this happen, visit our Kickstarter. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Previously on Mockery Manor: JJ is shown around the park by seasoned employee Parker. While exploring the sinister Dreamland, which records snippets of guests as they explore it, JJ hears a recording that sounds suspiciously like a woman being attacked. Parker says that he and his new girlfriend, JJ's twin sister Bette, are going to break into the park after dark, and JJ decides to tag along. In this episode: JJ is sharing an onsite dormitory with the intimidating Sonia, who is determined to make JJ's life miserable. An after-hours jaunt around the park with Parker and Bette leads to tensions in the group, and Parker reveals that they aren't the only residents of Mockery Manor. The park's founder, Margot Mockery, still lives in the decrepit manor house at the heart of the park... and they're being watched. Margot and her associate are keeping a watchful eye on the kids via their security cameras. Parker hears a scream and runs off to investigate. In this episode: JJ dupes Manager Norton with some quick thinking, and Parker is forced on a strange mission. For full info and credits, visit www.longcatmedia.com/mockery-manor Enjoying the series? Previously on Mockery Manor: JJ is caught in the park after hours by Manager Norton, but fools him into thinking she's Bette - her twin sister. Meanwhile Parker investigates a high-pitched scream, and finds a terrified Matty cowering in a supply cupboard, having seen "a big cat". Parker leaves him, laughing, and bumps into Emma, who has Sonia's bracelet in her possession (which everyone thinks JJ has stolen) and he takes it from her. Parker then realises Matty is right: Winnie, a cougar kept by Margot in secret, has escaped. Parker tracks Winnie to the Heart of Darkness ride, and finds her eating the body of Nick, the caretaker. Horrified, Parker calls Jenkins, whose suspicions are now confirmed. People are being murdered in the park... again. In this episode: the park is now open! A frustrated JJ is determined to get some answers... and more blood is shed. For full info and credits, visit www.longcatmedia.com/mockery-manor Enjoying the series? Previously on Mockery Manor: Everything is open, but Parker hasn't been seen for days, as he is now living in the Manor house. Emma tells JJ that Parker has Sonia's stolen charm bracelet (despite everyone thinking JJ is the thief), and tells her to make Parker give it back. Furious, JJ sneaks into the Manor to find Parker. He tells her that he is now head of security, and has been keeping an eye on everyone while dressed as Mr Crackles. In costume, he gives JJ the bracelet during the parade. JJ is shocked to discover a tag belonging to her Auntie Janet's dog Harvey attached to the bracelet. At that moment, Sonia, who is dressed as Queen Booboos, falls hard from the top of a parade float. In this episode: JJ learns that she may be at Mockery Manor for a reason, and Bette is pushed to breaking point. Previously on Mockery Manor: JJ learns of her family’s involvement with Manor, that her grandmother was their cook, and that her aunt Kate died in the same fire that injured Margot and killed the other Mockerys. Meanwhile, Bette has an uncomfortable conversation with Manager ‘Pervster’ Norton, then catches Matty and Davina doing their deed in a car. Bette deduces that JJ pretended to be her in order to escape punishment for being in the park at night, and swears JJ will pay for it. CW: Violence, descriptions of assault and drugs. Previously on Mockery Manor: Bette makes a dramatic exit from the park, leaving a note publicly shaming JJ. While looking at old photos with his mum, Parker realises that Margot Mockery's friend Janet (who Parker secretly knows to have been murdered) is JJ's aunt. He rushes back to the park with the photo to confront JJ. The pair end up making love instead, but JJ soon realises that it was Janet she heard screaming in the Dreamland recording. Meanwhile, JJ's older ex-boyfriend Graham arrives at the park, and a hitchhiking Bette has suddenly come face to face with Manager Norton. Previously on Mockery Manor: After Parker shows her the photograph of Auntie Janet with Margot and the park contractors, JJ realises that Janet was the screaming woman from the Dreamland recording. She runs to call the police, but is distracted by her ex-boyfriend Graham, who has run away from his wife and unexpectedly arrived at the park. Needing a place to stay, JJ escorts Graham to the uninhabited gardener's cottage in the woods. But once he is alone, Graham becomes the third victim of the Mockery Manor murderer. Meanwhile, a terrified and dishevelled Bette reappears in the park. The twins are reunited, and Bette tells JJ that Manager Norton abducted and drugged her. Bette had awoken in the woods to find Norton digging a hole, before she overpowered him, and beat him to death with his shovel. On this episode: JJ concocts a plan to help Bette escape the police, Margot is visited by her estranged mother Dorothy, and Parker ends up in hot water... CW: Violence, child abuse descriptions. Previously on Mockery Manor: JJ hatches a plan to help Bette escape the park and evade the police, after learning that she has killed Norton. Bette reveals that she is familiar with the park's underground tunnels, and they decide to hide there until nightfall. However, they meet Parker in the tunnels, and JJ brings him in on the plan - much to Bette's concern. Meanwhile, Margot's mother Dorothy has appeared, and Jenkins explains that Janet (Dorothy's daughter, Margot's sister and the twins' aunt) is the latest in a series of murders at the park, which appear to be connected. Back in the tunnels, Bette recognises Norton with his arm around Janet in the old photo, and Parker agrees to cover for the twins to allow Bette to escape. He lies to the police - but his cover story accidentally incriminates JJ in the recent murder of her ex-boyfriend Graham. In this episode: the police continue to hunt for the twins, tensions rise between JJ, Bette and Parker, and Dorothy tells JJ a story... CW: Violence, abuse. Previously on Mockery Manor: with Parker's help, JJ and Bette evade the police and escape the manor. After their arguing comes to a head, Bette storms off, leaving JJ alone and lost. While wandering the tunnels, JJ meets Dorothy: her grandmother. Dorothy leads JJ to Dreamland, where Margot has created disturbing tableaux of her own life story. JJ learns that the woman posing as Margot Mockery is none other than her namesake aunt Kate - previously thought to be dead - and that the real Margot had died in the 1948 fire instead. The penniless Dorothy had seen an opportunity for her daughter, and made the switch. However, mere moments after revealing this, Dorothy is stabbed to death before JJ's eyes... Previously: Three years have passed since the grisly events of Season One, and Mockery Manor’s new assistant manager Parker receives an unexpected phone call from Tokyo. JJ has fallen in with a bad crowd and needs help fleeing Japan. Parker arranges for JJ to travel to Germany and begin working at Dunkelschloss, Mockery Manor's sister park in the Black Forest. At the German park, employee Gretchen tries to remain professional while greeting guests, but her colleague Tomasz (dressed as mascot Eurobear) is behaving suspiciously, ultimately sneaking off to meet with a mysterious stranger. Meanwhile, Dunkelschloss's manager Hilda telephones Jenkins, and both are convinced the other is responsible for the disappearance of a large amount of theme park equipment on its way to Mockery Manor. Finally, a hitchhiking JJ is dumped by a lorry driver in the forest near Dunkelschloss. In a hollow tree, she hides something she cannot take with her, but cannot afford to lose. In this episode: JJ begins her shift at Jack's Giant Land, Jenkins gives Parker a difficult mission, and... Bette. Where has she been for the last three years? Mockery Manor is written and directed by Lindsay Sharman. Music, sound design and editing by Laurence Owen. Hayley Evenett was JJ and Bette, Laurence Owen was Parker, Jenkins, the DJ and additional voices, Lindsay Sharman was Hilda and Margot, Alasdair Beckett-King was Chet, Danil the Russian Gangster and additional voices, and Kenzo Kanayama was Genkai For more information about Mockery Manor, and our two other podcasts Madame Magenta and The Ballad of Anne & Mary, visit http://longcatmedia.com/ (longcatmedia.com) Or follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram @MockeryManor and also @LongCatMedia This podcast is supported by our wonderful Ko-fi patrons. Previously - Flashing back to New Year's Eve 1990, a disillusioned Bette leaves her pilled-up sister partying with strangers on a Thailand beach, and finds herself spilling her emotions to Chet, an American traveller. Chet invites Bette to come with him to the Himalayas to find inner peace, which she does... without JJ. Flashing forward to the present (1992), Hilda teaches JJ to drive the People Cart in the Vegetable Patch, Dunkelschloss's dullest edu-tainment offering. JJ panics at the mention of a ride called the Trousers Meowsers Mega Coaster, and Hilda informs her that they sometimes swap attractions with Mockery Manor. She also reveals that JJ will be staying in the semi-derelict schloss (castle) during her stay. Meanwhile, at Mockery Manor, Jenkins presses Parker to contact JJ and task her with spying on Hilda, whom he suspects is running an "illegal operation" from the German park. To their surprise, Bette then arrives at Mockery Manor and asks whether Margot's offer of a full-time job still stands. Finally, back in Tokyo, shadowy figures are disposing of a body. It seems unlikely that "the girl" is their colleague's killer, but they are determined to find her and retrieve the item she was supposed to deliver - a priceless, stolen Vermeer. In this episode: a desperate Bette is given a mission, while JJ seeks help from an unsavoury contact, settles into her new lodgings, and makes an unlikely friend. Mockery Manor is written and directed by Lindsay Sharman. Music, sound design and editing by Laurence Owen. Hayley Evenett was JJ and Bette, Laurence Owen was Parker, Jenkins and additional voices, Lindsay Sharman was Hilda, Margot and Davina, Alasdair Beckett-King was Tomasz and Dodgy Eric, and Abbie Eastwood was Gretchen. This show is a joy to listen to. Which is an odd thing to say about a murder mystery, I know! Exquisitely produced. Incredibly well-acted. And just the right amount of absurdity.
