In today's episode I am telling you about my journey of transitioning between an uninterested person into a golf lover with a few insights of what I have learned so far. The documentary Full Swing and the Movie The Long Game that I mentioned in this episode can be found on Netflix (it is not an ad, just what I have been watching to familiarize myself more with this very new world to me). I would like to know your opinions about golf :) Instagram @moldovan_abroad Email danielacantir@gmail.com #golf #golfer #womangolfer #ilovegolf --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/moldovan-abroad/support
In my quest to find a way to recycle my very old laptop (which wasn't even mine, I was given this laptop by my ex partner), I came across this company which made my task easier. I was a bit sentimental about this laptop and it is the laptop that I started my podcast Moldovan Abroad on it during the one year motorhome travel (testimony to the fact that you don't need a sophisticated studio or expensive gear if you can't afford it). But it was time to let it go so a quick search led me to CPR Computer Recycling. This is not an ad, I just liked their services. They do free collection for businesses & schools, as an individual you have to book a courier, but it wasn't expensive and they erase your personal data as well and profits go to charity. Dimensional Alliance Headquarters – Nothing is as it seems… Notions Into Motion Author Network – No Author is an Island https://www.buymeacoffee.com/moldovanabroad To write or not to write has never been the question… She wrote her first 26 line poem at age 8, entitled “My Christmas ABCs”. She then memorized it and performed it for the church Christmas party. This wasn’t terribly surprising. She started reading before Kindergarten and Dr. Seuss was one of her favorite authors, so rhyme came very naturally to her. She has been writing all of her life, as long as she can remember. A lot of poetry, short stories and, of course, the usual school reports. she always got high grades on her writing assignments, even when she didn’t in other classes, simply because she loved to write. Then, adulthood set in. She went into the Army.  Always a voracious reader, she still dreamt of writing a novel, but got gloriously side-tracked with a wonderful husband and six amazing children. During that time, she still wrote: Musical plays for her kids at church and school, songs, poetry and even an occasional newspaper article streamed from her pen. Then, she got involved in jobs that required clear concise writing and a lot of marketing copy. She put up her first website in 1996 and made her living on the internet for over 20 years, writing everything from blog posts to sales copy to scripts for online videos, not to mention copy for the websites she built for her clients. Then life changed her course.  Among other things she lost all the toes on her right foot due to undiscovered diabetes and breast cancer.  At that point she found herself in mourning for the loss of all of the things she used to do.  One morning she woke up with the thought:  "You need to stop focusing on what you can't do and start considering what you can do."  So she decided that now was the time to finally pursue her dream of writing a novel. Two weeks before her 64th birthday she published the first novel in an ongoing series. “The House on Infinity Loop” is the first book in a trilogy that will become just the first part of the 9 book Dimensional Alliance series. As of May 2022 there are 4 books published and a fifth one will debut November 2022. When she is not writing, she likes to read, crochet hats for the homeless and gifts for friends and family, is active in her church and looks forward to being very involved with the fans of her books. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/moldovan-abroad/support

I am re-posting older episodes with the amazing Ukrainian Ladies that I had the pleasure to meet through my podcast: Nataliya and Olia.  If you would like to help people in Ukraine, you can donate here Help young people of Ukraine (experienceukraine.co.uk) *** We recorded the interview on 1st October 2020 and what a coincidence that on the same date, 15 years ago, Nataliya and her best friend Tania, founded a theatre in a remote village in Transcarpathia, Ukraine. This project is very close to their heart, as it is encouraging children to engage with arts, it is free and it gives them the possibility of being creative and of building a different kind of path in future in various areas of arts. Usually, they organize a festival to raise funds much needed for running this project, but this year, due to obvious reasons, the festival was cancelled. So if you would like to encourage this project with any donation, here's a link to the JustGiving page. But this is only one of the many things that Nataliya does to support her community. Nataliya is normally organizing bespoke and authentic travel experiences in Ukraine (and beyond), but that was severely affected by the pandemic. However, before things go back and running, you should know about these amazing tours so that you can book them when conditions allow. These travel experiences are very authentic, they are not your usual thing that you can find on the internet. Nataliya always has community and sustainability in mind, so she is very thoughtful about every single aspect of it: travel there and stay as local as possible; only use local transport and local services so that the money can go back to the community, without affecting it from a touristic point of view; engaging with local activities; trying local food and drinks; exploring nature; trying the best to not use any plastic and even doing cleanups etc.  In order to have a better idea about these tours, please visit the Experience Ukraine and Beyond Website. The other thing that Nataliya does to support the small artisans, is promoting selling their carefully made crafts (sold at markets in the UK or on the website), from embroidered clothing made of very good quality fabrics, to wooden spoons, handwoven bulrush slippers etc. Nataliya is a joy to talk to, and we even spoke about growing your own food, wonky veg, tasteless food, coriander, food waste and many more interesting subjects. I hope you enjoy it. You can find Nataliya as well on Facebook  or Instagram. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/moldovan-abroad/support

Yulia is an ambitious person, who is determined to make changes, no matter how small or big they are. She is an advocate for human rights, she is recognized as an Outstanding Speaker by the UN Refugee Agency and she has been always involved in various local and international projects. While studying and working in Moldova, she found out about Chevening awards and applied to pursue a MA in Communication, Media Practice and Public Relations at Swansea University in the United Kingdom, where she researched the brand strategies of Apple, Microsoft, and Boston Dynamics. In this interview, Yulia told us more about the process of applying, her experience in Wales, a comparison to living in Moldova, and her favorite food and traditions in both places. She was also very open about depression and how she changed her mindset. I love that she has a very insightful way of looking at things. She wants to raise awareness of good things in Moldova. She now works at the National Association of ICT Companies in the Republic of Moldova (ATIC) that stands for the promotion of the ICT sector, which has become bigger and more influential than the wine sector.
