AI is coming to your college admissions world. Are you ready?
More importantly, should you be scared of it?
That's a question that was on the minds of a lot of the attendees - you included, maybe - at the NACAC 2025 convention. So today, we wanted to take a little bit of a deep dive into the topic of the evolving influence of AI in college admissions. We hear from the attendees, our staff who was at the gathering, and Dan Tudor's thoughts on how you as an admissions professional can, and should, approach this hot topic.

How long would you wait for hot, fresh, delicious donuts?
Would you wait for 45 minutes? I did, recently. And to be honest, I'm not sure it was worth it.
How long would your prospective students wait for the admissions decisions, and your admissions process, to play out? According to the research, not as long as you need them to.
On this episode of Monday Morning Admissions, we talk about four major stumbling blocks that causes delays in your process, and what your prospects need from you in order to keep on being patient and waiting for it all to play out.
Why is this important? Because more and more, prospects are gravitating to schools with smooth, well-communicated steps that lead to faster decisions...and that is hurting campuses, admissions staffs, and the counselors who are talking to prospects directly when it comes to their net results at the end of the year.
How can you change it? What do your prospects want to hear from you about as they go through the process? We answer four key areas of concern, and give you ideas on what you need to do next.

Wait, what?
You can retire wealthy from working in college admissions your entire career? Yes.
You can build a substantial savings month after month as you just start out as an admissions counselor? Yes.
On today's episode, former college coach and administrator Hillary London shares what she has learned after retiring from higher education and starting work as a financial advisor. She knows the challenges of building a stable financial foundation first hand from working at a small private college in the Northeast, followed by leadership roles working at ESPN, and is now putting that knowledge to work by helping admissions professionals and even college coaches better plan their future and not face financial stress. Here years of work in the financial world has earned many happy clients all over the country.

On this episode, we talk to Allen Koh, founder of Cardinal Education, one of the country's leading advisory services for parents and students seeking admission into elite U.S. universities and colleges.
Koh is echoing a trend that he says should be a growing concern for our higher education system: The deprioritization of, and even complete disregard for, college admissions essays. Once the building block for defining the fit of the prospective student on a campus, it's now becoming a thing of the past - and Koh believes that's going to be bad for the colleges ...and the country.

One of the most challenging topics we try to train admissions teams to master in the on-campus training workshops we lead is conversations with parents of their prospective students.
For most college admissions counselors, parents are intimidating. They ask different questions than students do, and it’s harder to make an effective connection with them.
Today, we go over six areas of conversation that not only will raise your profile with the parents of prospects, but also achieve key gains in the relationship you’re fostering - and, improve their view towards you and your campus as they help their son or daughter make this difficult life decision.

As we all know, there is a growing worry in HigherEd when it comes to the topic of the long term plan to keep college education relevant, affordable, and ongoing.
At the heart of that worry is this: There are too many colleges for the number of available students, which isn't a good precursor for an ongoing business model.
One individual keeping track of this trend is Gary Stocker. His website and podcast at CollegeViability.com tracks the financial health of colleges and universities, and creates an open statistical and financial record for the public - including the future students and families you recruit - to understand if the college they're looking into is healthy or not. Predictably, this has cause some in the Enrollment Management and campus leadership space to get upset with his work. We think it should prompt serious questions, along with intelligent answers, to help fix this problem and help transform the crisis into workable solutions.
So, what are the major issues that you need to be aware of?
What does the future of higher education in the United States look like?
And, what can you and your admissions department do to change course towards stability and profitability, if that happens to be on your to-do list where you work?

On this premier episode of the Monday Morning Admissions podcast, we start our show - as well as your new week that begins your new year on campus - with a statement:
Something has to change.
Too many admissions departments are doing the same thing that every other admissions department is doing when it comes to marketing, showcasing their campus, and leading prospective students through the process.
The result? Lagging yield rates, frustrated enrollment management leaders, and a growing questions pressure to meet the goals set for you on your campus.
We've been doing training and research at colleges and universities around the country for more than two decades, but this new podcast we're launching will be asking some new questions, and feature original voices, when it comes to the goal of maintaining robust enrollment numbers on campus. Today, we lay out that plan - and, give you a quick view of what you might consider changing when it comes to your approach on your campus.
We're going to try and make this a different type of discussion than you're used to hearing, and we hope you come along for the ride. And, maybe even add your voice to the discussion in the future.
