Description

Monday Morning Pastor is a weekly podcast to encourage, equip, challenge and resource pastors and church leaders on Monday mornings. Monday is the hardest day of the week for pastors and the day pastors need the most encouragement. We want to tell and hear stories of hope and encouragement in the midst of this unique place in culture where the negative ministry stories seem to get all the airtime. Our hope is that these stories resonate with and remind pastors why we stay in the game. It is a podcast that gives pastors hope and a safe place to take off their collar, robe or tie and be people who need receive the good news on the day we feel most vulnerable. Our podcast will consist of interviews, conversations and resources from pastors and ministry leaders. We’ll have a new episode loaded up each Monday morning throughout the year (but, of course, you can listen on any day you wish). We invite you to join us and listen to the Monday Morning Pastor, where pastors can be people.

Doug and Bob talk Church with Natalie Runion. One of the many things that we appreciate about Natalie is the way she is able to be honest, raw and hopeful for what is to come. Natalie talks about her new book, the story behind it, how this was one of the hardest books to write, and what she has discovered about the love she has for the Church in the process. We are glad to share this episode with you.  Natalie’s Book: The House That Jesus Built: Leading Our Churches Back to God’s Original BlueprintNatalie’s Website: https://natalierunion.com/about/We’d love to hear from you. Doug has a great chat with writer, editor, catechist and trained horticulturist — Julie Lane-Gay about her book on faith and liturgy titled The Riches of Your Grace. Julie has  been shaped by and thought deeply about the ways in which the Book of Common Prayer has formed her and the gift it is to shape us in our ordinary life.  I appreciate the ways in which liturgy has brought forward many deep parts of God’s character and ways that we can enter into prayer in a natural and focused way.  I am glad we get to share this conversation with pastors!  We hope you enjoy.Julie’s Book: The Riches of Your GraceWe’d love to hear from you. Both Bob and Doug were youth pastors, Doug was obviously better than Bob, but I digress.  This episode Bob and Doug talk with youth ministry legend Tic Long who has seen the scope from the early years of youth ministry being a thing until now.  It has the feel of a PBS documentary that could be next Ken Burns project.  Tic Long has spent most of his adult life in youth ministry and leadership. He worked at Youth Specialties for 34 years. Most of those years he spent leading the National Youth Workers Convention, which he loved and poured his heart and soul into.  Speaking of soul, Tic also had a killer soul patch. We hope you enjoy this conversation with Tic Long. We’d love to hear from you. Doug and Bob talk with Jeff Haanen the founder of The Denver Institute for Faith and Work. Jeff has learned that real transformation takes place “from the inside out.”  When emotional and spiritual health and the pursuit of truth gives birth to healthy work and thriving relationships, leaders are positioned to make long-lasting positive social and cultural impact.  As pastors one of the most important aspects of our calling is to help our folks in the workforce thrive and see life in that sector as mission and important to the kingdom. We hope you enjoy this episode, share it with folks in your congregation who work in the public sector. Jeff’s Book: Working from the Inside Out: A Brief Guide to Inner Work That Transforms Our Outer WorldJeff’s Website: https://jeffhaanen.com/ We’d love to hear from you. Doug and Bob talk with pastor of 30+ years and author Shane Stanford about life in ministry in the midst of difficult seasons.   If you find yourself going through a difficult season we know this will be an encouragement and blessing to you.  Ministry is a tough journey and it doesn’t have to tank you even when things are not going well, Shane helps keep the focus on Jesus’ love and loving like Jesus.  We hope you enjoy this conversation with Shane Stanford. Shane’s Book: JourneyWise: Redeeming the Broken & Winding Roads We Travel (The Eight Blessings of the Beatitudes of Jesus)Shane’s Website: https://journeywise.network/ We’d love to hear from you. Doug has an insightful, serious, and fun conversation with Stephanie, Jessica, and Jenna three Pastors’ wives who decided to write a book about their experiences.  This important conversation brings to light the everyday good and sometimes difficult realities that pastors’ spouses go through.  If you are a pastor, you must listen.  If you are a spouse of a pastor, I sense you will learn even more than your pastor spouse.  We hope you enjoy this conversation. The book: Pastors’ Wives Tell All: Navigating Real Church Life with Honesty and Humor We’d love to hear from you.
