Welcome to the first episode of Monster of the Week, a podcast dedicated to covering the...classic? tv show Supernatural. Your hosts are Jeremy Greer, Chris Mosher, and Stephen Veilleux. All three are big Supernatural fans, and have a lot of affection for the show. Not so much affection that they won't call it out on its ridiculousness, though, and believe: there is a LOT of ridiculousness. The first episode of the podcast covers the first two episodes of the show, "Pilot" and "Wendigo". Join our hosts as they talk about shipping people, exaggerating things, and the fandom business.Thoughts on the show? Notice a factual error? Want to talk to the hosts? In Episode 3, Dead in the Water, Sam and Dean try and pretty much fail to stop a series of strange drownings that may be tied to a vengeful spirit. Then in episode 4, Phantom Traveler, the boys face off against a non-canon demon and try to perform an exorcism on a plane destined to crash. And finally in episode 5, Bloody Mary, the Winchesters come face to face with a well known urban legend, and the first of many secrets between the brothers is born. On this episode we cover season 1, episodes 6, 7, and 8. In episode 6, Skin, a shapeshifter implicates Sam's old friend in a pretty brutal murder. Which is fine, until the shifter goes and steals Dean's hunky flesh (definitely not fine) and plays the boys against each other. Then in episode 7, Hookman, Sam and Dean head to the local sorority house to snoop around in bedrooms and face off against the Hookman legend. And finally we have episode 8, Bugs, where the boys face off against, you guessed it, bugs, while also grappling with some serious brotherly drama. You can find us on twitterPodcast: twitter.com/motwcastJeremy: twitter.com/jggreerStephen: twitter.com/fromsoftjunkieChris: twitter.com/localbonesOr check out our very cool website: Monsteroftheweek.coolSupport Monster Of The Week: A Supernatural Podcast
The MOTW boyz are back again this week, this time covering three episodes from Season 1: Home, Asylum, and Scarecrow. In episode 9, "Home", our heroes return to their childhood home, meet the world's best psychic, and get a visit from an old friend. In episode 10, "Asylum", we find out what happens when a 20 minute show is stretched to 45, and talk to not one but TWO Old People Who Know Things. Finally, episode 11, "Scarecrow", in which Sam and Dean have their first fight, Sam meets a manic pixie demon girl, and Dean begins his love of pie. In this episode of Monster of the Week, Jeremy, Chris, and Stephen take on three episodes from season 1: "Faith", "Route 666", and "Nightmare."In Faith, DEAN WINCHESTER DIES! SPOILERS! Fortunately, Sam knows a guy that knows a preacher than knows some sort of entity that resurrects him. WHEW, thought the podcast was cancelled for a minute. Then in "Route 666", a racist truck (repeat: A. Racist. Truck.) threatens the lives of Dean's ex girlfriend, as well as her family and friends. Luckily, it's 2017, and racism doesn't exist anymore. WHEW, bullet dodged, right? Finally, in "Nightmare", we learn that maybe Sam's headaches aren't that unique, and that at least one more person has had a run in with the demon Papa John Winchester has been chasing. Also: improbable beheadings! To subscribe to the show, find links to our various social media, listen to episodes or download episodes, please visit: http://www.monsteroftheweek.cool/Support Monster Of The Week: A Supernatural Podcast
This week Jeremy, Chris, and Stephen take on another three episodes of Supernatural Season 01: "The Benders", "Shadow", and "Hell House" in episode six of Monster of the Week, aka "Dean Winchester Listens to Morrissey".In "The Benders", Sam is kidnapped by a family ripped from a two-bit knock off Rob Zombie movie, and Dean is tortured by...a two-bit knock off Rob Zombie character. SIGH. All of that is ok though, because in "Shadow" we see the return of our favorite villain so far: Meg! And she brought shadow friends! And the Altar of Blood makes its second of FOURTEEN appearances on the show! Finally, we meet our top five reoccurring characters: the Ghostfacers! Unfortunately they aren't called that just yet, but still! GHOSTFACERS! The hunks are back! And your hosts, who are definitely NOT hunks. This week we're covering another three episodes: Something Wicked, Provenance, and Dead Man's Blood. Welcome to episode 7 of Monster of the Week, called "Don't Call Your Daughter Monkeypuss". In Something Wicked, Sam and Dean are on a hunt for a monster that whose primary ability is making Dean feel guilty. In Provenance, Sam impresses yet another lady with his knowledge of...something, while Dean incorrectly uses a gun for a little while. Finally, in Dead Man's Blood, we finally see the Supernatural version of vampires. Plus: outtakes! Only one more episode until the season finale, so get your emails, facebook comments, twitter DMs, instgram photos, and tumblr asks in to the show while you can. We'll be recording the feedback episode shortly after episode 8 appears in your feed. Thank you for listening! This is it, everyone. The finale of season one. Things will be forever drastically altered from this point forward. This week we're only covering two episodes, but they're so good that we spend close to two hours talking about them. First up is "Salvation", in which Sam and Dean hook up with John Winchester to go after the demon, only to be abandoned (again) shortly afterwards. The second episode is "Devil's Trap", which is just incredible. It introduces a bunch of things to the lore of the show, and we finally have a showdown with the main villain: JOHN WINCHESTER! Next week we'll be covering all of the extras on the S1 blu-ray, as well as answering YOUR QUESTIONS and responding to YOUR COMMENTS. If you're reading this on the day it came out, hurry up and send stuff in! You can email us at monsteroftheweekpodcast@gmail.com or just hit up the Contact page on our website. We'll even take Facebook and Twitter messages! Hell, if you ask nice enough, we'll send you Chris' phone number and you can just text him. Season 2 coverage has officially started! We're covering two episodes this week, as is the norm for season openers: "In My Time of Dying", in which we pick up immediately after the cliffhanger ending of season 1. In the second episode, "Everybody Loves A Clown", we talk a LOT (and I do mean a capital L L-O-T), about the brothers' feelings after the emotional events in S02E01. That's right, Angsty Sam is here, and he won't be going away anytime soon. Deal with it!Thanks for listening everyone! We are more than pleased with the comments about the show we've received so far. Season 2 coverage continues as we delve into the next three episodes: "Bloodlust", "Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things", and "Simon Said". In "Bloodlust", we meet yet another hunter with a troubled past and an El Camino. That's right, Gordon is here, and he be LURKIN. In "Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things", a very creepy boy does a very creepy thing to get laid, causing Sam and Dean no end of grief (which they of course work out in healthy emotional dialogu-hahahah never mind it's Sam and Dean). Finally, in "Simon Said", we get yet another creepy asshole, this time with ~demon powers~ which, as you might imagine, causes Sam to freak out. Thanks to everyone listening! If you have questions or comments, send them to us via our website or tweet at us. At the end of every season we do a feedback show, so if you send in something, we'll read it on the show! www.monsteroftheweek.coolSupport Monster Of The Week: A Supernatural Podcast
We continue our journey through season 2 this week, covering No Exit, The Usual Suspects, and Crossroad Blues. In No Exit, Dean and Jo get uncomfortably close and then manage to answer the question "can you cement a ghost". Then, in The Usual Suspects, the little girl from The Exorcist is all grown up and has become a (pretty terrible) cop, and Sam & Dean leave yet another spirit out there for some other hunter to deal with. Finally, we go down south to visit a sexy and badly acted demon so we can sell our soul for podcast dollars. The boys are back, but unfortunately we're missing one boy. Stephen is taking a break from the show a bit, so it's up to Chris and Jeremy to hold it down and cover our next three episodes. Good thing they're all three great episodes to talk about. First up: "Croatoan", in which Sam and Dean discover that demons have taken over a whole town and somehow made everyone's blood smell like sulphur. Then we move onto "Hunted", and see the return of everyone favorite horrible person, Gordon B. Lurkin. Finally, we briefly get into "Playthings", but it doesn't have much really necessary plot to talk about outside of a super drunk Sam. Chris and Jeremy are back with more Supernatural coverage, slowly but surely making their way through season 2. This week's episode starts with out with a bang in "Night Shifter", as Sam and Dean chase down a shapeshifter into robbing banks and impersonating dead bodies. Then it's on to "Houses of the Holy", where the boys have a crisis of faith and argue way too much. Finally, we delve into "Born Under A Bad Sign", in which Sam disappears, only to show back up with a new, spicy attitude. Be sure to check out http://www.monsteroftheweek.cool for the show's schedule, contact info for the hosts, and all the various social media profiles you can shake a rock salt shell at. We're back this week to answer the most important questions: is it ok to have sex with a werewolf? Will Chris defend Sam putting the moves on a werewolf? Find out in this week's episode, Enemy BrothersFirst up we meet a fan favorite Trickster in "Tall Tales". Have you ever seen a football player slow dance with an alien? Well buddy, you're in for a TREAT. The second episode, "Roadkill", brings in the Cylons and has Sam get real emotional with a real ghost. Finally, we cover "Heart" and talk about our second sex scene in detail. Like, a lot of detail. So much detail that iTunes has requested we put a new explicit tag on this thing. Wow!Thanks everyone for listening! We're getting to the end of S2, so you should get your question in for our upcoming feedback episode. Man, when we named this show Monster of the Week, we had no idea how many weekly monsters we'd be talking about. The Supernatural episodes we cover this week don't really tie us into the main plot, but they are FUN. First up, "Hollywood Babylon", where Dean finds his one true calling as a production assistant. Second is "Folsom Prison Blues", in which Dean finds his second true calling as a lifer. Finally, we get into "What Is and Never Should Be...", in which Dean finds is THIRD true calling as the drunk of the family. I hope you like Dean, because this is a Dean heavy episode. We love Supernatural, and we love people that love Supernatural. We like to talk to those people on our Twitter, @MOTWcast. It's here! Chris and Jeremy finally finish up coverage of S2. Only 260 more episodes of Supernatural to cover before this podcast is finally over and they can go back to their daily lives. Hahahaha yeah right like either of those guys have lives, amirite?! Anyway, the first episode is "All Hell Breaks Loose Pt. 1" and it starts off with a (self) bang. Don't worry, that will make more sense once you listen to the episode. After that it's straight into the finale for "All Hell Breaks Loose Pt. 2," where Dean has to make a dangerous deal and the amount of secrets the boys have from one another literally doubles in one episode. Good thing Jeremy has that spreadsheet to keep trackNext week we'll be covering the S2 extras and more importantly, YOUR FEEDBACK. Hello hunks! This week we're taking a break from main season coverage to answer your questions. Before we get to those, though, we have a special guest: Joanna! Joanna is a big fan of the show, both the TV show and the podcast, and is one of our earliest fans. We chat with her about season 2, shipping, and why Sam sucks (lol j/k but really he does). After Joanna leaves, Chris and Jeremy tackle your questions, including several varieties of F**k/Marry/Kill, the best Sam haircut, and dreamboats. It's a great episode folks, but really, aren't they all?
