OK Stephen (Street), shall we do that again?

Chris and George are joined by Stephen Street, the producer and songwriter who was crucial in launching Morrissey's solo career and worked very closely with The Smiths. He first met Moz and Marr in 1984, witnessed the fallout of the band post-breakup and is the Stephen from "OK Stephen, shall we do that again?" We chat about all of that and more in this episode. Nanny Val comes into the studio in person to react to I Thought You Were Dead, there's the ten-question trivia quiz and the boys analyse the lyrics of The Night Pop Dropped. Plus some "if you love Morrissey then you'll love this" recommendations. You might notice that our podcast has had a bit of a facelift. We're in a proper studio this time so we highly recommend you watch the video version on Spotify or YouTube. But the audio will sound great too. Big thanks to Gary at Red Eye studios. "Morrissey was my friend. A 'nice' guy? No. He was more than that"

A big coup for Chris and George as they interview an old friend of Morrissey's about what it was like to know him as a mate. Moz also covered one of his songs which was a huge compliment. Can you beat George's score? It might not be too hard. We dissect the meanings of three Morrissey tracks: Maladjusted, All The Lazy Dykes and A Swallow On My Neck. There's also plenty of news from the world of Morrissey and The Smiths. Plus copious amounts of wine. Want to get in touch? Send an email to themorrisseymercury@gmail.com.
