If you’ve ever felt left out…If you’ve ever been bullied…If you’ve ever sat alone and wished someone would notice you —This episode is for you. Sophie Sparks is the heart and founder of You Can Sit With Me, one of Australia’s most important and game-changing kindness movement that’s helping students feel seen, safe, and supported at school — all through one simple yellow wristband. She started it after seeing too many kids hurting in silence. As a teacher, Sophie saw first-hand how many students were sitting alone, struggling to find their people. In 2015, driven by a message from a distressed student and a need to take action, she ordered 500 yellow wristbands from her home and launched a campaign that has helped more than 900 schools, sporting clubs, and community groups embrace its message. Fast forward 10 years, and thousands of schools are using the wristbands to create safe, inclusive spaces. What started as a simple idea to help lonely kids find a friend at school has become a nationwide anti-bullying initiative changing lives one yellow wristband at a time. Now, it’s giving students the power to say: “Hey, I’ve got your back. You can sit with me.” In this episode, we talk about:💛 How to bring You Can Sit With Me to your school💛 What to do if you see someone being left out💛 How one wristband can spark real friendships💛 Why kindness is actually pretty cool Whether you’re in high school, starting Year 7, or just need a reminder that you matter — this one’s for you. We talk to Sophie about how it all began, the power of kindness, and what every teen (and adult!) can do to make school a more inclusive place. ✨ We hope every listener leaves this ep inspired to grab a yellow wristband, reach out to someone new, and remember: you can always sit with us. 🎧 Subscribe, share, and leave a review if this episode made your day a little brighter.💛 To learn more or get involved, visit youcansitwithme.orgSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
This podcast is all about teen life – whether you’re living it, like Millie, or still recovering from it, like me – and we love chatting to amazing guests about their own teenage experiences. We are fangirling hard because we are joined this ep by literal Australian royalty in a swimsuit – Olympic gold medalist, world record breaker, and all-round water warrior – Ariarne Titmus.  Arnie as us Aussies call her has swum her way into history books – but today we want to dive into what she was like before the medals. What was teen Arnie doing when she wasn’t doing laps? And of course we need to unpack the sacrifices and the choices she made that helped her get from a teen swimmer in Tassie to one of the best athletes on the planet. You are going to love how grounded Ariarne is – even after everything she’s achieved. I feel like we learned more from her than a whole week of school. We are both inspired and need to jump in a pool and do a thousand laps right now. Or at least stop complaining when we have to walk the dog! If you want to know more about her training, her wins or what she’s got coming up next, you can follow her on socials Insta @ariarnetitmus_ Tik Tok@ariarnetitmus00 And if you liked this episode, can we ask you a big favour? Share it with a friend, give us a review, and hit follow. It’s free, it helps so much – and it totally makes our day. Or just post a thirst trap with the caption “Listening to Move Over Mama changed my life.” That works too. And don’t forget to follow Move Over Mama on Insta and TikTok for all the behind-the-scenes fun. See you next time.  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Popstar-Dami Im

Are you ready to join the Dami Army! Our guest this episode is hands down one of the most talented performers Australia has. Dami Im is a pianist, singer, songwriter, author, teacher, wife, mother, Queensland girl and all-round good human.  We first discovered her through the TV show X-Factor and she harnessed that win to build on her career and amongst other huge achievements like hit songs and albums, she represented Australia at Eurovision and came SECOND. Dami is amazing Mama Mentor for this episode for so many reasons. Dami moved to Australia from South Korea when she was just 9 years old. She didn’t speak English and had to start her life over. Dami chats to us about how scary it is to move countries right before you hit the teen years, the insecurities she felt, and tools she used to try and fit in when she clearly stood out. Hint. Music bridges all gaps! Later in the episode we dig deep to how uncomfortable fame feels like her, how she built her talent recording herself singing into her laptop, how working with record labels can compromise you as an artist, plus of course what performing in Eurovision in front of the world is really like.  We will 'Move Over' and let you listen.  If you want to find out more about Dami make sure you follow her on all her socials or find everything on her website www.damiim.com And if you like this episode, please subscribe, share with a friend or give us a review. Millie Manifested this episodes guest. We were at the launch of the new Blueys World in Brisbane and standing behind us was EMMA Wiggle!  As Emma Memma stood behind us ready to go on stage Millie whispered, 'do you think I could ask her to be on the podcast when she is finished'.. We have a policy that the worst anyone can say is NO, and No isn't a bad word so never be afraid to ask anyone anything.  So when Emma Memma finished her performance we lined up for a photo and asked her the question and here she is today For those that don’t know, although I suspect we barely need to do an introduction for. Emma Watkins aka Emma Memma, but Emma is now perhaps Australia's most famous and favorite children's entertainer, dancer, singer, author and television presenter. She is best known as the first female member of the children's group The Wiggles. Due to her popularity in the group, she starred in her own spinoff series as a solo Wiggles performer, titled Emma!. After departing the group, she debuted her own children's entertainment character, Emma Memma. She released her first solo children's music album in 2022 which received an ARIA Award for Best Children's Album in 2023. She has also appeared in reality television shows like including The Masked Singer, The Amazing Race Australia and a Christmas special of Lego Masters Australia. She narrated the children's series Reef School, and hosted Teenage Boss: Next Level in 2024. And that's just some of her achievements.  She is perfect to be a Move Over Mama mentor and we are so thrilled she said YES! If you want to find out more about Emma you can find all you need to know about her on her website.  https://www.emmamemma.com And if you like this episode, please share with a friend or give us a review.
