Nearly three months after his wife and son were murdered, Alex Murdaugh called 911 to report that he himself had been shot Saturday, September 4th, 2021. His attorney told the press that he Alex was pulled over to repair his vehicle along Salkehatchie Road in Hampton County en route to Charleston when a motorist opened fire toward Murdaugh's 2021 Mercedes SUV. However, the lead investigating agency, SLED, has not confirmed those details. This special episode explores all the available details on the incident.   Thank you to the Bannon Law Group for supporting our mission. From the sitting by the fire to setting them, the Bannon Law Group has got you covered. This Podcast repeats the same information in several episodes and is poorly produced. I really wish investigative reporters would find a narrator to speak their podcasts when they are not a good voice fit for podcasting. I wanted to hear this story, so I listened anyway, but it was hard, not so much the voice fry, but the back-and-forth/repeative information.

I’m truly tired of hearing how hard she’s working. It’s “okay” to talk about those things, as the podcaster mentions, but every single episode? At some point it sounds like seeking validation for how hard she’s working. It would be like if every day, at the beginning or end of my shift, I told my clients for 3 straight minutes how hard I worked for them and how taxing it was on me. It may be true, but how does that sound to the client? It’s coming across as need a lot of validation, vs simply getting validation from a job well done.

has anybody entertained the idea that ,rather than being hit by a vehicle, Stephen may have jumped or been pushed/thrown from a moving vehicle?

I was looking forward to this podcast, but I just can't listen to this podcaster. It's her way of speaking, more than her voice, but it's a shame bc it appears she's an excellent journalist. Not all journalists are podcasters, in other words, there can be a different voice on the actual podcast with still crediting the journalist's work. Oh well.

I have my theories on a homosexual incestuous relationship that made mom shoot son. And a premeditated murder for hire shoot mom. A botched suicide for hire gone wrong masked the double homicide of mom and son, and put the housekeeper wrongful death case $$$$, that coincided with the felony fatal underage BUI boat crash, that couldn't be swept under the rug, as the reason to turn oneself in, while in rehab, sounds pretty staged and desperate to me. Let's see how my intuitions shake out.

Another great episode! Mandy consistently combines remarkable research with compelling reporting. She has a real gift for bringing clarity to this ever more complex and convoluted story. As for the vocal fry ... I'm tempted to say that those who choose to focus on it are missing the point and can go fry an egg. But, instead, I'll take the high road and say for me "the fry" just adds to the authenticity and immediacy Mandy already brings. I truly only notice it when I listen for it, and I don't listen for it because Mandy's storytelling is too darned good!

This family & the crazy that surrounds it is approaching epic Lifetime TV movie proportions. I enjoy the local perspective & don't find the vocal fry annoying as others do. Having binged all the episodes in a short period, I feel like there was quite a bit of repetition. The shaming of national media & other podcasts gets a bit old...can't reasonably expect anyone to ignore this dumpster fire of a family.

I am absolutely fascinated by this story. It's so thick and layered with corruption and entitlement. I look forward to seeing the truth come out and justice be done.

I have never heard 911 operators act like all these have. Just Odd.. I have called 911 many times to report accidents and provide info and the people on the end of my calls all asked important questions 1st I feel like between this and the boat call and the one on the Smith fellow all had 922 operator who just didn't get the Job done how it should have been. Just my opinion

This is a great podcast with amazing research done by a journalist. Ignore the ridiculous comments about the host's voice! As a non American I can find some accents difficult to listen to & I have no issue with this podcast. The suggestion that the host can change her voice as actors do is disrespectful to the brilliant work she has done as a journalist.

In his Alex's 911 call, he first states "my wife and child have both been shot" then later, during the call transfer, he states "I've been up there now and it's bad, real bad." If he hadn't been "up there" how did he know his "wife and child had been shot" and he needed help? The whole "I've been up there now and it's bad" just seems OFF.

woooeeee!! So much has come out since you've been working on this Mandy! No wonder you've been on this family for 2 years. Addicted to drugs, pahis own hitman, gave hit man his personal gun to shoot him with (Alex so stupid it was prob a revolver, leaving she'll evidence& registered to Alex) Add Alex stealing from company, his son Buster involved allegedly in a hate crime murder, other son Paul drunkenly crashing boat, killing the girl & trying to blame it on another guy, Paul and his mother murdered.. Good grief!!!! There's prob a mistress going to pop up along the way. where's Alex??? Ran and hid in rehab!!!! This is what happens when a family gets too much power in small towns. The south is famous for this. I had a family member that wasa police chief in the early 60s.I could tell you stories that drop your jaw.
