In this poetic episode, Alicia Henry shares: how grief is part of her every cell, in the most beautiful way; how choosing to live seasonally with Nature can provide deep comfort; why Winter is the lightest time of year; and tender words of encouragment for those facing grief. Alicia is a mother, meditation teacher, writer, actor, and ceremonialist. Having spent her childhood in awe of nature's beauty and grace, Alicia continues to explore mindfulness through meditation, poetry, Reiki, and tea ceremony. She facilitates moon circles, intentional gatherings, and wellness retreats for fellow soul travelers on the path of personal exploration. Her offerings are inspired by the ever-unfurling magic of Nature that connects us to Source, giving her the heart space to share these practices with others.  With a passion for storytelling, Alicia's acting journey has brought her on stage from New York City to Virginia, as well as numerous television appearances. As a writer, Alicia has supported well-being brands in bringing their vision to the world, and some of her work has graced billboards across the country. Always with a glass-half-full perspective on life, she is aptly part of the team that helped achieve the International Day of Happiness, which became a United Nations resolution.  You can connect with Alicia on Instagram @alicia__henry or through www.aliciahenry.com ------- Get Lauren's 10-Min Meditation for Grief to support you on your journey! 70% of Americans don't have a will. In this episode, Jermaine Ee shares personal stories behind why he created HeirLight, an app that organizes infomation for you to draft a legal document that represents what you want; how clarity is love, in practical form; and that life's neither about the journey nor the destination, but the company we keep. Jermaine is a founder and storyteller interested in three things: how we spend our time, the work we do, and what we leave behind. His career has zigzagged across ed‑tech, logistics, toys, political campaigns, executive search, and impact projects, but the through‑line has always been the same: helping people make better decisions about their money, careers, and futures. He's run financial aid workshops in low‑income high schools, built a startup to help kids confront their fear of math, and helps hire CEO, studying how talent shapes enduring companies. Through Rotary and other efforts, he has helped lead humanitarian projects from Los Angeles to Colombia, Mexico, and Ukraine, where he worked on refugee housing, medical transport, and frontline logistics. Today Jermaine spends most of his time on HeirLight, a simple & smart will maker designed to turn one of adulthood's most avoided tasks into a fast, modern, emotionally intelligent experience. Born in Los Angeles and raised between LA and Malaysia, he thinks a lot about belonging, identity, and the quiet instructions we leave behind for the people we love. With HeirLight, he's on a mission to help more families move from fear and procrastination to clarity and calm, starting with a 30‑minute guided conversation that ends with a legally binding will and a little more peace of mind. Here, author Anna Beecher tenderly shares what brought her to write both her debut novel and recently published memoir, and speaks to: the fragile miraculousness of everything; grief, as a tear in the fabric of the universe; the privilege of aging; and how accepting mortality, as a part of life, is to be more fully alive. Anna is a writer and theatre-maker from the United Kingdom. She is the author of the novel Here Comes the Miracle, which was shortlisted for The Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award. Here Comes the Miracle follows siblings in their twenties, Joe and Emily, during the final year of Joe's life, interweaving their story with that of their Grandparents Eleanor and Edward. Anna's second book, the memoir We All Come Home Alive, was published in 2025. A memoir in essays, We All Come Home Alive,  tells the story of Anna's life through the moments which remade her, from car crashes to bereavement to motherhood. Anna's theater work has been presented by venues including Lincoln Center, Young Vic, Southbank Center, and Barbican London. She is Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Virginia. Her work is about love. In this intimate conversation, MaKshya Tolbert shares the "why" behind writing Shade is a place; explores loss, as a structure to see grief; the (devastating) consequences of wanting shade; and being invited into yourself. MaKshya practices poetry and placemaking in Virginia, where her grandmother raised her. She was the 2025 Art in Library Spaces Artist-in-Residence at the University of Virginia, 2024 New City Arts Fellowship Guest Curator, and serves on the Charlottesville Tree Commission (2022-present), including as 2024 Chair. Her debut book of poems, Shade is a place (winner of the 2024 National Poetry Series), meanders east-west along the City's Downtown Mall, seeking a sense of place amid the flux of the Mall's turning trees, landscape design, and one's inner life. She has received recent fellowship and residency support from Cave Canem, New City Arts, Lead to Life, the Patricia Valian Reser Center for the Creative Arts' Long-Term Ecological Reflections program (2024-26 Fireline Fellow), Community of Writers, Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects, the University of Virginia, and the U.S.-Italy Fulbright Commission. Her recent poetry and prose can be found at Poem-a-Day, Emergence Magazine, Nightboat Books, and more. She is the 2025-2030 Associate Editor in Poetry for Interdisciplinary Studies in Literature and Environment (ISLE), published quarterly by Oxford University Press. In her free time, she is elsewhere—a place Eddie S. Glaude Jr. calls, "that physical or metaphorical place that affords the space to breathe."  You can connect with MaKshya at @processdaily on Instagram.  You may purchase Shade is a place, Penguin 2025, wherever books are sold. ------- Get Lauren's 10-Min Meditation for Grief to support you on your journey! It can be difficult to find courage to talk about endometriosis and the effects of the disease on fertility.  In this episode, Julie shares: her personal story of how circumstances beyond her control have shown her what her life's path is meant to be and how she has embraced walking it; dealing with the loss of something she may never have; the importance of finding the right people to support you; and how turning to creativity and making beauty in hardship was the catalyst for her business, Anam Cara Clay Goods. Julie Freeman-Mullins is a Tennessee girl at heart, having lived most of her life in the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee.  She has been blessed to journey through life with her husband and best friend, Josh.  They have been married since 2012 and have 2 fur babies: Saydi, a yellow lab/pyrenees mix, and Pearl, their sweet cat baby.  Julie has had a varied career, mostly in nonprofit work with a concentration in hospitality where she worked as a professional chef for over 15 years.  Moving to central Virginia in 2018 was a big change for her, but also a change that has brought new and amazing opportunities into her life.  Most days you can find Julie working as the Volunteer Recruitment and Communications Coordinator with Innisfree Village, an amazing community of folks that has been like a second home for her. And in her spare time, she is also the proud owner of a small business, Anam Cara Clay Goods, where she creates handmade polymer clay jewelry.  Her distinct jewelry design gives her the opportunity to share her passion for art while also creating beautiful things for the world to enjoy.  It is also a means by which she can give back in meaningful ways, most specifically with raising awareness about the effects of endometriosis and how we can make a positive impact for the millions of women worldwide being affected by this disease.  Anam Cara Clay Goods is about more than just the products Julie creates, but the intentional ways she can encourage and empower women to explore their own creativity, to feel good about themselves in their hearts, minds, and bodies, and to believe that-- just like a pair of earrings, we are all better together. In this episode, Artist + Intuitive Medium Allison Pharmakis shares how she has come to find beauty and deeper connections in loss; how grief has shifted the ways she interacts with humans, at large; what led her to fully embrace and offer mediumship; and how Spirit is ever-present and ready to be of service, if we know how to invite it in. Pharmakis has possessed the unique gift of connecting with the deceased since her childhood.  She is a facilitator of healing between the living and the dead, and uses automatism (spirit guided writing and drawing) to help channel and connect the past and the present.  Although this was an intuitive ability bestowed upon her, she fine tuned her role as vehicle and vessel.  As a teenager, Pharmakis realized that utilizing the medium of automatic drawing helped her to see her visions more clearly.  She uses the medium of automatism to connect with spirits, as well as the Tarot. Her Visual Mediumship Sessions and Multi-Deck Intuitive Tarot Readings are hands-on and intimate, yet create a safe environment for beginners, and the more experienced, alike.  During each Visual Mediumship Session - which is tailored and personalized to her client - Pharmakis creates an original piece of artwork.  She not only aims to heal and inspire, but to supply her clients with the tools to integrate the experience and to strengthen themselves from within.
