On June 19, 1865 African Americans were officially freed from slavery. This is a very important day for us all because it gives us the opportunity to continue to grow together as a human race and understand that African Americans put up one hell of a fight to get to where we are today. Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr. Malcom X and so many more black heroes fought tooth and nail for African American rights and stood tall on what they believed in. We will continue to grow together as one and continue to build friendships, relationships and families as we celebrate this wonderful holiday.

Once you make that decision that you want to overcome something or take that step forward, life may sometimes throw us a curveball. But this is just one of life’s tricks to see if you are serious or not. Sometimes we make the right decisions and sometimes we fall for the magic trick again. “Once you understand life’s magic trick, you are never fooled again.” So take that leap of faith and get one step closer to your higher power!
