See Jesus needy; Matthew 25:31-40.Writer: Fabricio Medina
Paul was ill when he preached the gospel to the Galatians, but they received him as if he were an angel of God, as if he were Christ himself. Believers can be ill. Jesus himself was known as a Man of sorrows, acquainted with grief (Isaiah 53:3), but that is exactly how He bore our sins and carried our sorrows. Upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace. Galatians 4:13 and 14
We are called to love our neighbor as ourselves. Moses emphasizes to love our neighbor, and especially the marginalized, in the most practical ways: he mentions the poor (10), the sojourner (10), the hired worker (13) and the physically impaired (14). A call to bless people around us in these times of crises we face. Bless others, because we are first blessed by God!Leviticus 19:9-18
Galatians 2:20 and Psalm 103Through faith and by grace, we are in Jesus, who conquered. His crucifixion is my crucifixion. I am risen with Christ, through faith. Jesus lives in me, through the holy Spirit. I don’t have to fear death, because I died already with Him. I am sure of heaven, because I am with Jesus already in the heavenly place, by His grace.
Signs of time? There are many signs. False prophets, famines, earthquakes and persecution. Jesus mentions positive signs as well: we will be able to witness to people in high positions (13:9). Jesus will come back once the gospel is proclaimed to all nations (13:10). Those positive signs are an incentive to preach and share the gospel. We ourselves are called to endure (13:13 and Hebrews 12:2) God wants everyone to be saved and we can be part of it!
We are called to pray and intercede. Let us not be discouraged. Troubles are present (vs 18). A. The whole creation groans. B. We groan because of the suffering (vs 23). C. But the holy Spirit intercedes for us and groans with us (vs 26). He intercedes for us (vs 27). And D. Jesus intercedes for us (vs 34). Let us pray in the confidence that prayer is a godly business.
Deut. 8:2-3. When we are led in the desert, we can be tested by God. God is sovereign. He tests us, He doesn’t tempt us. He does so, to know what is in our hearts, to purify us, to help us grow. On the way, He strengthens us by giving Manna and by helping to understand that we do not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from Him.

Isaiah uses the idea of a sandwich to emphasize verse 4 (youare precious and much loved; can be explained by usingcolors)Verse 1 and 7 I created and formed youVerse 2/3 and 5 Fear notVerse 4 (the middle): You are much loved
Sin causes suffering, pain and death. We cannot point to others and say that they are worse sinners. Every disaster invites us to repent and to turn from the dark reality of sin to the true light of God in Jesus, and to the pardon and reconciliation He offers.

Water and fire will come (it says ‘when’ and not ‘if’). The Lord promises: When it comes, I will be with you (=the Name of Yahweh and the promise of Jesus: I am with you, till the end of the World). Isaiah 43: 2 and 3a
