In this NeoJoseph podcast episode, we will be discussing the drama between CGP Grey, a popular educational YouTuber based in the United Kingdom, and Vlogging Through History (VTH), a smaller channel with around 350,000 subscribers that makes reaction videos to historical content.
On April 9, 2023, CGP Grey issued a copyright strike on VTH’s channel for reacting to one of his videos. This was not a simple claim for revenue, but a serious legal action that could jeopardize VTH’s channel and livelihood.
VTH posted an update video on April 10, explaining the situation and showing evidence that his reaction video was fair use. He also revealed that CGP Grey had blocked him from contacting him or commenting on his videos, and had also filed a second strike immediately upon receiving a counter-notification appeal on the first one.
Many other history YouTubers, such as The Armchair Historian, AlternateHistoryHub and Mr. Beat, came to VTH’s defense and criticized CGP Grey for his unfair and aggressive behavior. They also pointed out that CGP Grey has a history of being hostile to reaction content and has a new comment system that requires payment to comment on his videos.

This video covers the recent controversy surrounding online audio distribution platform Bandcamp, and their removal of political commentator, and musician Tim Pool's music from the platform on March 7, 2023, without any clear reasoning. In addition, the band Five Times August, who patroned the platform for over a decade, has also been banned from the platform, leading to speculation that the bans could be politically motivated. The video also includes commentary from popular liberal music reviewer Anthony Fantano - mostly known by his online aliases theneedledrop and thatistheplan - who has expressed support for the deplatforming of Tim Pool due to his political opinions. Stay tuned for a deep dive into this complex issue and its implications for free speech and artistic expression (and also why Fantano was an idiot for what he said).

In this NeoJoseph podcast episode, we will be discussing the fallout after Kwite was accused of assault and emotional abuse by a Twitter user and 23-year-old storyboard artist Nyasputiin, who claims that Kwite unconsensually assaulted them in the back seat of their car in February 2018. Nyasputiin, who also animates on SCP Confinement for Lord Bung, additionally alleged that Kwite was a bad friend, a worse communicator, a transphobe and a gaslighter who used their deadname to belittle them. These allegations are not exactly new, as they were first brought up by Orion in September 2018, in a since-deleted YouTube video. However, they gained more attention recently after Nyasputiin posted a detailed Twitlonger on February 22, 2023, which sparked online backlash against Kwite and support for Nyasputiin over the controversy from many YouTubers and artists, such as Uxiedust. On March 11, 2023, Kwite published a 91-minute long video explaining the allegations, saying the rumors were all twisted up and/or fraudulent. The video is split into 16 chapters, with the more serious allegations, such as the Black Panther car assault, which he claims to be "entirely false," being near the start of the video. He provides a significant amount of evidence to support his claims, and as of the time of recording, Orion has actually been criticised for making a poorly edited diagnosis letter for PTSD to "undeniably" disprove all the claims of falsities made against her.

This NeoJoseph podcast episode delves into the recent controversy involving popular Twitch personality Pokimane. On March 1, 2023, Pokimane claimed during a Twitch livestream that a well-connected individual in the streaming industry had fabricated a romantic relationship with her as part of a scheme to manipulate and target women in her community. Despite being open with her fanbase about previous struggles, this revelation shocked many. The accused individual, who also worked for a large industry company, allegedly leaked privileged information and threatened self-harm if the women he targeted spoke out. The accused individual was well-connected and knew many other streamers, which made the situation even more concerning. Pokimane shared that multiple women in her community came forward with evidence of their conversations with the individual, which exposed his lies and manipulation. According to Pokimane, the individual would pretend to struggle with mental health issues to gain the trust of women in her community before sending them falsified conversations between himself and Pokimane. He also allegedly sent fake explicit photos of Pokimane with the hope of receiving such images from the women he was targeting. Although the individual has reportedly been fired after an investigation, Pokimane expressed fear about what he might do next. This video also explores the doubts surrounding the truthfulness of Pokimane's story and whether withholding the individual's name will ease her concerns.
Kwite, a popular YouTube commentator and Reddit channel with over 1.8 million subscribers, has been accused of being a terrible and abusive boyfriend by Orion, a 23-year-old artist who works for Lord Bung’s SCP Confinement series. Orion claims that Kwite sexually assaulted him in his car, treated their relationship as “transactional,” and was intentionally “unkind” to him.
Kwite has acknowledged the accusations on his Discord server, but his statement has been met with criticism and skepticism. Meanwhile, other allegations have surfaced about Kwite’s Discord server and how he defended similar predatory behavior there.
In this video, we will focus on the controversy around NotSlickBOi (@notslickboi), a satirical commentary YouTuber who has been fabricating facts and evidence about the situation in his videos. Several other YouTube channels have called him out for spreading misinformation and creating a false narrative that harms Kwite, Orion, and the viewers.

In this NeoJoseph video, we will be discussing the aftermath of explosive accusations made on February 22, 2023 against well-known YouTube commentator and Reddit channel Kwite, who has over 1.8 million subscribers. 23-year-old artist Orion, who goes by the Twitter handle @nyasputiin, and who is a lead storyboard artist for Lord Bung and his SCP Confinement series, claimed to have known Kwite since 2017, claims that he was a terrible boyfriend who treated their relationship as "transactional," was intentionally "unkind," abandoned him to handle breakdowns alone, and assaulted him in his car while they were driving to see Black Panther. Per his subreddit, Kwite has publicly acknowledged the Twitlonger and claims within it. In addition, since the initial Twitter thread, controversy has surrounded how commentary channel @gigasus (Pegasus) covered the situation, and new allegations about how Kwite reportedly defended similar predatory behaviour in his Discord server have since come out from Twitter user @youleadmetta. - 🎮 Game: Call of Duty: Black Ops: Cold War

Kwite hasn't commented because the accusations are so new, but administrators in his Discord server have restricted conversation on the subject until further notice. In this video, we review the claims made, and question the decisions of some of the individuals involved, such as SCP animator Lord Bung, who the Twitter user works for. He reportedly created a "reconciliation call" between the alleged victim and perpetrator, which usually doesn't happen in situations as serious as this.

In this NeoJoseph podcast episode, we take a closer look at the aftermath of the explosive confrontation that occurred on January 25, 2023, between Tyler Oliveira and Brent Rivera at the Stanley Hotel, the set of the Warner Bros. movie The Shining. This situation sparked a massive backlash against Brent, particularly on social media, with Tyler's YouTube Shorts video on the incident receiving over 1 million likes and 16 million views. In response, Brent uploaded a video filmed inside the hotel that garnered over half a million dislikes and criticism for his disproportionate response to Tyler questioning whether he faked his videos. However, the situation didn't end there. YouTuber Dumpy, a commentary channel with 242,000 subscribers, recently exposed Brent's attempt to illegally claim fair use videos criticising his actions as copyright infringement. Dumpy made a tweet thread and a subsequent YouTube video, revealing how Brent tried to use YouTube's copyright claim system to his advantage, despite the fact that his claims were rejected by the platform. In the process, Brent violated YouTube's Terms of Service and the law, and as the claim was rejected, YouTube sent the uploader Dumpy Brent's personal details and webform responses as filled in on the copyright strike form for a potential perjury case in the future.

In this NeoJoseph podcast episode, we discuss the confrontation that happened between Tyler Oliveira and Brent Rivera at the Stanley Hotel, the set of the Warner Bros. movie The Shining. Tyler, a popular YouTuber with 2.8 million subscribers, asks Brent, who has 25.3 million subscribers, whether his videos are faked or not, as Tyler had seen actors getting set up in the hallway. Brent responds rudely, telling Tyler to "enjoy speaking to his 100 subscribers," and ultimately has security throw Tyler out of the hotel for invading their personal space, despite Tyler being in the public hallway of the hotel and not necessarily harassing anyone. Tyler's YouTube Shorts video on the situation received over 1 million likes and 16 million views, while Brent's video filmed inside the hotel receives over half a million dislikes and faces backlash and criticism over his disproportionate response, causing him to disable comments on his video. On February 16, 2023, Brent publishes a response on TikTok, where he admits to faking some pranks, a claim he denied to Tyler, and accuses him of harassment with weak video proof. However, Tyler's existing content disproves some of the claims Brent makes in his response.
