On this episode, we with down with Gene Sticco, a former Air Force soldier and military contractor whose wife, Natalia, inherited notes from her father that appear to be detailed observations of a UFO in Soviet possession.The notes came into their hands several years ago when her father sent the notes to his grandson, their child, who was showing early interest in aeronautics. On this episode, I interview ExoAcademian Darren King to assemble and discuss a coherent and inclusive picture of what’s emerged for me over the past couple years in the hosting of Neon Galactic.  King is host of the Point of Convergence, Liminal Phrames, and Event Horizon podcasts, as well as a seeker and teacher.Together, we examine the nature of non-human intelligence, consciousness, and the apparently interpenetrating layers of mind that seem to make up the broader universe.We discuss how egoic separation and individual identity have plagued our species and caused us to become a kind of cancer, rapacious and disconnected from the broader body of being. King describes how reality to his mind consists of holons, where each individual element exists both on its own as an individual entity, but also as a constituent part of some broader being. These holons start as the smallest constituent particles and atoms, arise into cells and organs of the body, then emerge to contain the universe.We ask, is this a minded universe? And if so, what role do archetypes play both within our own minds and within the fabric of reality? King describes how he sees life and being as an expression of energy. On this episode of Neon Galactic, David Stuss and I are joined by Andrew Gallimore, one the world’s leading researchers and theorists into dimethyltriyptamine, or DMT, who will soon be publishing his third book on the subject, “Death By Astonishment: Confronting the Mystery of the World’s Strangest Drug.”Gallimore is an author, chemical neuropharmacologist, and neurobiologist whose work has pushed the boundaries of modern science and confronted the limits of conventional thinking on the use of psychedelics and their interface with the human brain. We discuss the history of DMT — how it was discovered by modern scientists, isolated and ultimately synthesized.We talk about the role various pioneers played in that effort, from Timothy Leary and Richard Alpert to Terence McKenna and Rick Strassman, and how all the conventional theories for its visionary effects seem to fail deeper analysis.DMT has been found across the world, in both plants and animals, and even in the human body. On this episode of Neon Galactic, I’m joined by comedian, author, podcaster and mystic Jeremy Vaeni, whose several books use humor and insight to frame the bizarre and often mystifying experiences that have punctuated his life.Vaeni was featured prominently in “How To Think Impossibly,” the most recent book by Rice University Professor Jeffrey Kripal, who names Vaeni as one of his teachers in the art of embracing and understanding the impossible.Kripal, who has been featured on this show multiple times, is to my mind the pre-eminent thinker on the UFO/NHI subject.He celebrates Vaeni’s dissection of the phenomenon, and his arrival at a non-dualistic, or monist, interpretation for the seemingly absurd menu of often conflicting phenomena.In this conversation, we discuss Vaeni’s experiences, the road that led him to a spiritual interpretation, his critique of figures like Stanford scientist Garry Nolan and others, as well as his eventual discovery of Jiddu Krishnamurti as the key to understanding himself and the universe.We also discuss the role trauma played in keying off these experiences, and why he doesn’t believe experiencers are chosen for any physical difference in their brains or bodies.Vaeni, a long-time podcaster and talk show host, even turns the tables on me and asks how I’ve arrived at my interpretation, such as it is, of the phenomenon.Overall, this was a challenging and fruitful conversation.
