Description

Beginning January 2019: This feed is a dedicated feed for reruns. Once a month, we will pick an episode from our backlog and share it anew. Usually this will be from the Channel 1 backlog, but occasionally we'll pull from Channel F, or from any future shows we do (aka "Channels"), so long as the original episode does not exceed 2hrs. Sometimes I will tack a new prelude or special announcement onto the front of an episode, but usually it'll just be the original content unmodified. But please stay subbed to the feed, as there is a lot of excellent content in the backlog to either explore for the first time, or to revisit. I think you will enjoy the look back! :-)Nerd Noise Radio - your home for the best Noise from the YM2612/SN76489, SPC700, 2A03, HuC6280, AY-3-8910, YM2151, LR35902, POKEY, PAULA, SID, and beyond!

Well, dear listeners, we are very near the end here for the dedicated Reruns feed on Buzzsprout. This shall be our second-to-final broadcast, and our final rerun. As promised, our finale next month, as a going away present, and a token of our gratitude for the past 5yrs, will not only not be a rerun, but besides just being an all-new episode, it will be a TIMED EXCLUSIVE just for you. So, be sure not to miss it!Now, I had originally promised C2E1 as this month's rerun. But this episode ties directly into next month's farewell. So, I am rebroadcasting it instead. At the bottom of the show notes, I will include the link to C2E1, though, so I can still share it, albeit indirectly! :-)01 - Intro - 00:00:0002 - Fantavision (US) - PS2 - intro - Soichi Terada - 00:02:0803 - Sonic Mania - multi - Studiopolis Zone Act 2 - Tee Lopes - 00:02:4004 - Ernest Evans - Genesis - Stage 2 - Motoi Sakuraba - 00: 05:0905 - Sim City Classic - PC (SC-88) - Theme - Steve Hales / Will Wright - 00:07:5006 - Traffic Rush - iOS/Android - In Game 1 - Donut Games - 00:09:5607 - Super Thunderblade - Genesis - High Scores - Sochio Ogawa - 00:11:0208 - Phase 10 - iOS/Android - In-Game Music - Kenneth R. As we get towards the end of our run here on Buzzsprout with the dedicated reruns feed, I felt it would be apropos to share the first two episodes of Channel 1. A couple caveats: 1) The production quality of the intro and outro are -TERRIBLE-! 2) Due to a simple mistake on my part, the music blocks on these two episodes are in mono. I discovered and corrected the issue in time to save Episode 3, but not in time for episodes 1 and 2. But, these are both great episodes and great collections of music! Especially episode 2, and my enthusiasm at the start of my podcasting journey can clearly be felt. So, it's for these reasons that I hope you'll enjoy them! -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Today’s broadcast is Episode 2 for Theme Thursday, January 19th, 2017. Our second of two reruns for the month, and an episode that is easily in my top 20 episodes in show history, and possibly even in my top 15....or even top 10! It's a VERY early episode, so the production value on the intro and outro are TERRIBLE! The arrangement (track order), and  production value of the music block is also not quite up to par with current episodes either, but fortunately, the quality vector on that front is much less profound than it is with the intros and outros. But most importantly, it is an episode where I got incredibly self-indulgent with my track selection choices, and therefore, it features a TON of pieces that are favorites of mine - hence why it ranks so high for me, and will likely still rank quite high when the show finally reaches episode 100 and comes to a complete end (current plans put that day all the way out into Dec 2026).And now, to the track list!Tracklist - Track#, Game, System, Composer, Track Names, Timestamp:  01: Intro - 00:00:00 02: ChipChan-Kick - PCFX - Yoshio Furakawa, Masahara Iwata, and Hitoshi Sakamoto  a) Stage 1 - 00:01:46  b) Stage 4 - 00:05:00 03: Trickstyle - Dreamcast - Richard Beddow  a) USA Race 1 - 00:07:04  b) USA Race 4 - 00:10:54 04: Alien 3 - SNES - Steve Collett  a) Destroy the Eggs - 00:14:04  b) Collect Deliver and Steal - 00:15:11 05: Super Smash Bros Brawl - Wii  a) Tunnel (X) - composed) Kazumi Totaka / arranged) Yusuke Takahama - 00:17:10  b) Marionation Gear - composed and arranged) Masafumi Takada - 00:20:08 06: LED Storm - C64 - Tim Follin  a) Music 3 - 00:22:43  b) Name Entry - 00:25:13 07: Final Fantasy X - PS2 - Nobuo Uematsu, Masashi Hamauzo, Junya Nakano  a) Challenge - 00:27:58  b) People of the Far North - 00:30:45 08: Dick Tracy - Genesis - Takayuki Nakamura  a) Train Yard - 00:32:55  b) Warehouse - 00:34:25 09: Ninja Gaiden 2 - NES - Ryuichi Nitta, Mayuko Okamura  a) Stage 2-2 - 00:36:24  b) Stage 5-2 - 00:37:39 10: Lovely Planet - Multi Platform - Calum Bowen  a) Lovely City - 00:38:58  b) Lovely Village - 00:41:32 11: Magician Lord - NEO GEO - Hiroyuki Shimizu, Yuka Watanabe, Hideki Yamamoto  a) Stage 2 - 00:44:18  b) Stage 4 - 00:46:43 12: Zelda Twilight Princess - GC/Wii - Toru Minegishi, Asuka Ota  a) Twilight Palace (outside) - 00:48:29  b) After the Battle - 00:51:24 13: Psychosis - TG16 - Atsuhiro Motoyama  a) 1st Cause - 00:53:40  b) 4th Cause - 00:54:58 14: Outlaws of the Lost Dynasty (Dark Legend) - Multi - Seiichi Hamada  a) Gong Shun Sheng - 00:56:46  b) Ruan Xian Wu - 00:59:18 15: Cosmic Carnage - 32X - Hikoshi Hashimoto  a) Cylic (Heavy Armor) - 01:01:26  b) Zena Lan (Heavy Armor) - 01:03:34 16: Sims - PC - Jerry Martin   a) Buying Lumber (Build 2) - 01:05:18  b) Martinis for Two (Latin 2) - 01:10:17 17: Outro - 01:16:42  Music Block Runtime: 01:14:58, Total Episode Runtime: 01:23:09  Our Intro and Outro Music is Funky Radio - Dreamcast - BB Rights
Oops, I did it again! I missed my window to upload a rerun for last month. So, what I'm going to do this month is share two reruns instead. And not only that, but I will do the same in October as well. So you come out, net, one episode ahead!Since we're coming up fast on the end of the dedicated reruns feed on Buzzsprout, October and November will be "beginnings": Episodes 1 and 2 of Channel 1 in October, and Episode 1 of Channel 2 in November. And then.......in December.....as our final send off to close out this dedicated reruns feed and send it off with a bang? Not only will it NOT be a rerun, but it'll be a farewell episode that shall be EXCLUSIVE to listeners on the reruns feed! Sure, it'll eventually make it to the main feed too, of course - ironically (or perhaps "poetically" is the better word), through the mechanism of, of all things, a rerun. But not for months, or even years. And until then, it will not be heard by a soul not subscribed to this feed! It will be all yours, as my gift to you, my token of appreciation, my way of THANKING YOU for having stuck around this whole time, even when you've known it was winding down, and even when I've missed episodes a handful of times. :-)In any case, my apologies once again for missing last month's rerun, and may I present to you our first of two reruns this month: C1E22 - Mishmash Monday - vol 3 from January 22nd, 2018: early in Season 2. Not a particularly "standout" episode in the grand scheme of the show, but one that I'm still personally extra fond of, and even more importantly, one that's short enough that I'll still have room under the 2hr max monthly upload constraint of Buzzsprout's free tier service to provide you a much more substantial 2nd episode this month, and another early and much more "important" episode: C1E4 - TwoFer Tuesday - vol. 1.And now, for the tracklist:Track#, Game, System, Track Name, Composer, Timestamp:  01: Intro - 00:00 02: Gran Turismo 5 - PS3 - Current of the Times - Yudai Satoh - 02:06 03: Tobal No. 1 - PS1 - Aqua and Trees - Yoko Shimomura - 07:13 04: Fantavision (US) - PS2 - Vs. The second of two "special make up session" episodes to compensate you for the lack of April and May reruns. Though this one is "TECHNICALLY" a rerun, since it originally released a month ago, it is effectively "not a rerun" because it is still the most recent all-new production from Nerd Noise Radio. I would've uploaded it on the same day it came out, but the previous episode had taken up the month's content limit. So this was as early as I could get it to you. As such, I hope you'll consider it an "honorary non-rerun". :-) It's a "Nerd Noise Radio - Channel 2" episode, which you've heard once before, and so you know how VERY different a show it is from Channel 1. SPECIAL NOTE TO RERUNS FEED LISTENER: I owe you a tremendous apology! I usually schedule reruns ahead of time a month or two ahead, and so, there exists the possibility that I'll get confused on whether or not I have done so for a given month, and miss one. To make up for that, and since today's episode is a very special occasion, I figured I'd do something special and share something that's not a rerun, but an actual fresh episode! Today's [all-new] episode is a 40th birthday celebration of a listener, and someone very important to me: my brother, Jesse! Enjoy! Also, since Buzzsprout character limits for episode descriptions are so restrictive, the tracklist by itself without any notes exceeds it. Therefore, I'll have to resort to attaching it as a Google Docs link. You can find that link here:https://docs.google.com/document/d/190vQT3p3zkxWudP0_aelkuiXGPaI_U0zyHXOW3lVww4/edit?usp=sharingHowever, so that you at least have clickable timestamps, here's just a "Track 1" style generic list with timestamps:Intro - 00:00:00Track 01 - 00:04:11Track 02 - 00:06:21Track 03 - 00:08:21Track 04 - 00:10:13Track 05 - 00:12:08Track 06 - 00:16:05Track 07 - 00:18:27Track 08 - 00:19:08Track 09 - 00:20:54Track 10 - 00:22:23Track 11 - 00:24:22Track 12 - 00:25:52Track 13 - 00:27:13Track 14 - 00:30:23Track 15 - 00:31:47Track 16 - 00:36:26Track 17 - 00:39:37Track 18 - 00:41:44Track 19 - 00:44:46Track 20 - 00:46:05Track 21 - 00:47:09Track 22 - 00:47:48Track 23 - 00:49:38Track 24 - 00:51:42Track 25 - 00:53:48Track 26 - 00:56:57Track 27 - 00:59:45Track 28 - 01:03:29Track 29 - 01:06:16Track 30 - 01:08:07Track 31 - 01:11:50Track 32 - 01:14:33Track 33 - 01:17:48Track 34 - 01:19:30Track 35 - 01:21:28Track 36 - 01:23:06Track 37 - 01:25:03Track 38 - 01:27:41Track 39 - 01:30:58Track 40 - 01:33:53Outro - 01:37:25Bonus - 01:53:57Lastly, I think I'll also do something special for you next month. We will continue to broadcast reruns, only that service will now be consolidated into the main Nerd Noise Radio feed, along with the ongoing all new Channel 1, Channel 2, and Channel F releases. You can find the main Nerd Noise Radio podcast feed here:    https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/nerd-noise-radio/id1191401173    You will also be able to find the same content as the main feed on Spotify, Stitcher, TuneIn, iHeartRadio, Pandora, and Vurbl, and of course, we’ll still be around on social media, the Blog, Archive.org, and reachable by email. In fact, since the last time I updated you on the state of Nerd Noise Radio, the Blog, and especially Archive have been reworked to feature the occasional additional content only available there. The Nerd Noise Radio YouTube channel is dormant currently, but will be making a comeback – hopefully in 2021.    It is my SINCEREST hope that we will not lose a single one of you to the shutdown of the Buzzsprout feed, and that we will see each and every one of you over on the main feed and/or through the other outlets. But whether you make it over or not, please accept my tremendous gratitude for sticking with me the past four years and into this fifth year of Nerd Noise Radio. The show never would’ve been what it has been were it not for you, the listener    And for those who do come over and stick with us, I hope you will enjoy what we have in store. The plan is to continue Nerd Noise Radio through Channel 1 Episode 100, which at our adjusted release schedule, should take us all the way through the end of calendar 2026. So, quite a bit of time left to enjoy each other’s company on our great sonic journey through the winding, twisting, sloping waves....of delicious VGM!    Hope to see you there!    Cheers!    -St. John (Nerd Noise Radio)   p.s. Something special planned for December. So don't unsub just yet. :-)

Either answer is fine, but please do let me know. Lastly, while submissions longer than five tracks are VERY welcome, if you're going to do so, maybe break it into "must make it" tracks (max five), and "would be nice if" tracks, so I know what to prioritize, and also have flexibility between many contributors or few. NOTE: Timestamps will be about two minutes off because of the addition of the earcatcher.Today’s broadcast is Episode 13 for Soundtrack Saturday, August 5th 2017. In celebrating my receipt of the all-new Turbografx16 Mini yesterday, I thought that I would share my own personal Turbografx story from my childhood. Unfortunately, I don't have a recording that is nothing by the TG story. But what I do have is the Channel F Introduction post, which not only contains my TG16 story (centered around Christmas 1992 / December 2000), but also my "NES Story" - Christmas 1989, which, apart from the simply terrible production value as my very first release (even before the release of Episode 1) is just an incredible story! And in my opinion, the Christmas 92 story is not that far behind it in terms of story worthiness. I don't know whether I'd stand behind every single word I say in this recording, but I know one thing that hasn't diminished is my love for the TG16 / PC Engine. In fact, as a make-up for not doing this in March, I believe our rerun cycle for June will also center around the TG16...specifically, a certain mini-series co-starring Bryce Dumond of the Turbotastic Podcast! Stay Tuned! Meanwhile, enjoy this surprise bonus rerun - a surprise even to me, as I had not planned to do this until I had the Mini hooked up, and was playing through game after game of greatness! Whether you're a TG16 veteran, have only had the most fleeting brushes with it, have never played one....or perhaps have not even heard of it, you owe it to yourself to try it out! If you've got a spare $100 laying about, I STRONGLY recommend you pick up one of your own! Cheers!
As always, I apologize for the sound quality in the intros and outros on all episodes 10 and earlier. Also, for fantastic contrast, and show of both how much we've improved, and yet, how little we've changed, you can compare this first TwoFer Tuesday episode of ours with our most recent TwoFer Tuesday (C1E44) over on the main feed.Cheers!Tracklist - Track#, Game, System, Composer, Track Names, Timestamp:  01: Intro - 00:00:00 02: ChipChan-Kick - PCFX - Yoshio Furakawa, Masahara Iwata, and Hitoshi Sakamoto  a) Stage 1 - 00:01:46  b) Stage 4 - 00:05:00 03: Trickstyle - Dreamcast - Richard Beddow  a) USA Race 1 - 00:07:04  b) USA Race 4 - 00:10:54 04: Alien 3 - SNES - Steve Collett  a) Destroy the Eggs - 00:14:04  b) Collect Deliver and Steal - 00:15:11 05: Super Smash Bros Brawl - Wii  a) Tunnel (X) - composed) Kazumi Totaka / arranged) Yusuke Takahama - 00:17:10  b) Marionation Gear - composed and arranged) Masafumi Takada - 00:20:08 06: LED Storm - C64 - Tim Follin  a) Music 3 - 00:22:43  b) Name Entry - 00:25:13 07: Final Fantasy X - PS2 - Nobuo Uematsu, Masashi Hamauzo, Junya Nakano  a) Challenge - 00:27:58  b) People of the Far North - 00:30:45 08: Dick Tracy - Genesis - Takayuki Nakamura  a) Train Yard - 00:32:55  b) Warehouse - 00:34:25 09: Ninja Gaiden 2 - NES - Ryuichi Nitta, Mayuko Okamura  a) Stage 2-2 - 00:36:24  b) Stage 5-2 - 00:37:39 10: Lovely Planet - Multi Platform - Calum Bowen  a) Lovely City - 00:38:58  b) Lovely Village - 00:41:32 11: Magician Lord - NEO GEO - Hiroyuki Shimizu, Yuka Watanabe, Hideki Yamamoto  a) Stage 2 - 00:44:18  b) Stage 4 - 00:46:43 12: Zelda Twilight Princess - GC/Wii - Toru Minegishi, Asuka Ota  a) Twilight Palace (outside) - 00:48:29  b) After the Battle - 00:51:24 13: Psychosis - TG16 - Atsuhiro Motoyama  a) 1st Cause - 00:53:40  b) 4th Cause - 00:54:58 14: Outlaws of the Lost Dynasty (Dark Legend) - Multi - Seiichi Hamada  a) Gong Shun Sheng - 00:56:46  b) Ruan Xian Wu - 00:59:18 15: Cosmic Carnage - 32X - Hikoshi Hashimoto  a) Cylic (Heavy Armor) - 01:01:26  b) Zena Lan (Heavy Armor) - 01:03:34 16: Sims - PC - Jerry Martin   a) Buying Lumber (Build 2) - 01:05:18  b) Martinis for Two (Latin 2) - 01:10:17 17: Outro - 01:16:42  Music Block Runtime: 01:14:58, Total Episode Runtime: 01:23:09  Our Intro and Outro Music is Funky Radio - Dreamcast - BB Rights
