"La Chimera" had its world premiere at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, where it competed for the Palme d'Or and received positive reviews from critics who singled out Alice Rohrwacher's direction, thematically rich writing, and the layered performances from Josh O'Connor and Isabella Rossellini. All three of them were kind enough to spend some time with us talking about their work on the film, which centers on a young British archaeologist who gets involved with a group of traveling grave robbers of stolen Etruscan artifacts during the 1980s in Italy. Please be sure to check out the film, which is releasing this weekend in theaters from NEON. Thank you, and enjoy! Check out more on NextBestPicture.com Please subscribe on... For this week's main podcast review, I am joined by Lauren LaMagna, Josh Parham, Dan Bayer, Cody Dericks, Giovanni Lago & Daniel Howat. Today, we are reviewing the latest film from Denis Villeneuve, "Dune: Part Two," starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, Souheila Yacoub, Stellan Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling & Javier Bardem. Continuing after 2021's Oscar-winning "Dune" (or "Dune: Part One"), the second half of the story brings Frank Herbert's classic 1965 sci-fi novel to life in a way many thought we would never see. Shot on a grand scale, with massive production value, and shown on the largest screens in the world in IMAX, it has kicked off 2024 with a bang as the movie event of the year so far. Such an epic film deserves an epic review, and that's what we're here to give you in our SPOILER-FILLED conversation where we discuss Villeneuve's directing, adaptation of the source material, the performances, the craftsmanship, its awards season chances, and more. "Maestro" is one of the year's most well-crafted films, both on the page and up on the screen. Following our behind-the-scenes interviews with more people involved in making the film, Ema Sasic got some time with Oscar-nominated co-writer Josh Singer, and Dan Bayer spoke with Oscar-nominated cinematographer Matthew Libatique. Each had stories to tell regarding working with director Bradley Cooper, honoring Leonard Bernstein's legacy, crafting an unconventional biopic compared to many others that are out there, and more. Please give both a listen and be sure to check out the film, which is available to stream on Netflix and is up for your consideration at this year's Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Cinematography. "The Wonderful Story Of Henry Sugar," based on the 1977 short story of the same name by Roald Dahl, had its world premiere at the 2023 Venice International Film Festival, where it received positive reviews for filmmaker Wes Anderson bringing his trademark cinematic style to the short film format. It is the second film adaptation of Dahl's work directed by Anderson, following the Oscar-nominated "Fantastic Mr. Fox" in 2009. With an Academy Award nomination for Best Live Action Short, "Henry Sugar" marks Anderson's eighth Oscar nomination. Working with his usual collaborators both in front and behind the camera, the film is the first of a four-part series of shorts adapted from Dahl's short stories, including "The Swan," "The Rat Catcher," and "Poison." All of them are now available to stream on Netflix. Costume Designer Kasia Walicka-Maimone and Cinematographer Robert Yeoman were kind enough to spend a few minutes speaking with us about their work on the short film and their experience working with Anderson. Please be sure to check out the short film, which is up for your consideration for Best Live Action Short Film at this year's Academy Awards. Thank you, and enjoy! I disagree with the definition of snub. A snub is going against expectations. What this pod describes is it as more of a vendetta or conspiracy

I absolutely love this podcast, but I wish they would talk more about what SHOULD win the Oscars and not what will win. Also, they thought the 3 Billboards screenplay was a mess, but they loved Wonder Woman? WTF?
