Emily Breeze: Demystifying Exercise While Pregnant, Motherhood, Marriage, Pancakes and More!

Today, I sit down with Emily Breeze, 2x CrossFit Games Athlete, D1 College Athlete, Personal + Group Trainer, plus so much more, and discuss the power of living a fit, healthy life before, during and after her three pregnancies. From Trainer-to-Trainer, we break down how important it is to listen to your body and remember, "the gym is where you are."  With so much going on, incorporating balance is a great jumping-off point. You don't need an hour every single day; sometimes, it's squatting your babies in the driveway and chasing them around the yard.  Finding a workout habit that is fun, motivating, and engaging is the most important factor when it comes to sticking to it. Second to that is finding a supportive person or crew of people who help you along the way.  There is no perfect equation, but Emily and I both agree on this:  It is your responsibility to surround yourself with supportive people who want to see you succeed at that healthy lifestyle you've grown to love. It's time for you to dictate your happiness!  Sit down with Emily and me, we talk pancakes, workouts, kids, vacations, spouses and so much more.  Find more from Emily:   Instagram: @emilybreeze Website: breezethroughfitness.com   Find more from me:  Instagram: @devan.kline Youtube: youtube.com/devankline Workout: burnbootcamp.com

Fit2Fat2Fit with Drew Manning

In today’s episode of Next Level, we’re talking with Drew Manning who’s most well known for his Fit2Fat2Fit journey where he gained and then subsequently lost 75 pounds. While this may sound like a crazy experiment for someone in the fitness world to embark on, for Drew it was really about stepping into the exact experience that his clients were going through.   The big takeaway for Drew is that transformation is about way more than just physical weight loss. Trainers have the tools to help people reach their goals, but truly understanding the other layers that go along with it is so crucial, too. Drew shares about how this experience shaped him and how he’s working on changing the narrative in the fitness industry towards one that has way more empathy. We talk about how interconnected our physical, emotional, and spiritual selves really are and how to nurture these different areas. Drew also shares perspective on popular diets in today's wellness culture and how there's truly no one size fits all solution. Drew offers tactical advice based on his own experiences to really tap into the idea that transformations are body, mind, and soul. Wherever you're at in your journey, I think you'll relate to so much of what Drew shares.     My favorite quotes from Drew in this episode… “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”  “Transformations are about so much more than physical weight loss.”    Find more from Drew:  Instagram: @fit2fat2fit Website: www.fit2fat2fit.com   Find more from me:  Instagram: @devan.kline Youtube: youtube.com/devankline Workout: burnbootcamp.com

Why You Need to Get Over Yourself and The Reasons You Think You Can’t

The reason you aren’t succeeding has nothing to do with anyone or anything. The one thing holding you back from experiencing the success you want in your life is yourself. Yes, you!  We are our own worst enemy.  Your thoughts, your doubts, your ego, your excuses, your lack of motivation and your lies to yourself are all responsible for holding you back.   I firmly believe success is 90% psychology and 10% mechanics. Which means, you need to focus more on your mentality rather than your tactics to achieve your goals.   In this episode, I help you break down your barriers and push you to be honest with yourself about how you are holding yourself back. It's time to get out of your own way and take your health and fitness to the next level.    Find more from me:  Instagram: @devan.kline Youtube: youtube.com/devankline Workout: burnbootcamp.com

Your Number One Mistake When Setting Goals

Do you have health and fitness goals you continue failing to reach?  If so, I bet you are making the number one mistake when it comes to setting goals.  Most likely your goals have something to do with losing weight, losing body fat, or losing inches. Everyone’s goals are centered around losing. But in my opinion, the world “losing” has such a negative connotation with negative vibes attached to it. What if the reason you can’t reach your goals is because what you are focusing on is bringing more negativity into your life?   In this episode of Next Level, I talk you through shifting your goal setting mindset from "losing" to "gaining".  Wherever you focus is where all your recourses, energy, time and attention go. Which means, if you are so focused on something with negative vibes, you’ll bring more negativity into your life. Instead focus on everything you want to gain. Focus on gaining strength, gaining momentum, gaining confidence, gaining happiness, or whatever it is you want to gain.   There is so much to gain, you don’t need to focus on what you need to lose.  Tune into the full episode where I ask you pressing questions and share my best advice on how to set goals and reach them with greater success. How to Love Your Body with Jessamyn Stanley

In this episode of Next Level, I chat with Jessamyn Stanley who is a true icon for body positivity and a world-renowned yoga teacher breaking all the yogi stereotypes. Jessamyn shares her journey from self-hate to self-love and gives you real life advice for learning to accept your body.   My favorite point Jessamyn makes in this episode is: body shaming and self-hate are addictions and need to be treated like one. She says, “I learned how to shame myself at a very young age and I feel like I’m in a permanent state of recovery. It’s something I literally work on every day.”  Jessamyn makes it clear there is no quick fix solution when it comes to learning to love yourself and your body. There is no mantra to repeat and there is no magical trick you can do. You need to put in the work. It’s unpleasant and not pretty to look at but the results are beyond what you could ever imagine.   The first step towards rehabilitation is detaching from what others think about you and starting to focus on how you feel about you. Most often why we fail to love ourselves is because of caring too much about what others thinks. We need to realize the people who judge us are projecting their own insecurities onto us. We should never allow their personal insecurities create insecurities within ourselves.   Want more amazing insight like this? 5 Nutrition Tips to Make Your Life Easier

I think it is so important to make eating healthy easy.   When you overcomplicate nutrition, there is no way it will become a lifestyle. The reason we don’t eat healthy isn’t because we don’t know how. We all know what foods we should and shouldn’t be eating. The reason we don’t eat healthy is because it’s not the easiest choice.  So how can we make eating healthier easier?   In this episode of Next Level, I’m giving you my best five tips for simplifying nutrition and helping you develop a healthy diet you can maintain long term.  Here is my first tip for making it easier for you to start eating healthier in your life...  Start with one small thing you know you can do.   Oftentimes when people want to make healthier choices, they go from 0 to 100. They either cut everything out all at once, or they cut out the one thing they love most.  I’ve had so many clients addicted to drinking soda, and when they decide they are serious about reaching their health and fitness goals, they also decide this is the first thing they need to eliminate from their diet. But, since they are addicted, this is also the more difficult thing for them to do.  My advice is to pick one thing you know for a fact you can hold yourself accountable for, either eliminating from your diet or adding to your diet. If cutting out soda seems way too hard to do right now, what is something that doesn’t seem as hard?  Once you chose the one habit you know you can successfully eliminate or add, and you do so for a certain period, it will create momentum for you.  You will feel proud of yourself and it will get you excited to continue to make more changes. I like to call it the magic-of-momentum cycle. Soon, you will have the willpower and strength to do that one thing you know is the hardest.   Love this tip? Losing 201 Pounds in One Year with Bruce Pitcher

In this episode of Next Level, I’m joined by well-known fitness trainer and transformation expert, Bruce Pitcher. Bruce chats with me about his journey from weighing 420 pounds and losing 201 pounds in year. Bruce was featured on the hit ABC show Extreme Weight Loss with celebrity trainers Chris and Heidi Powell. Through his transformation journey, Bruce learned the keys to success: mastering your mindset, keeping your promises to yourself and learning to unconditionally love yourself. Bruce opens up about what led him to obesity and the tools and tactics he used to regain his health. No matter what struggles you face or what tragedies you’ve dealt with, Bruce will give you the empowerment you need to reach your goals, love yourself and build a better future.    My favorite quotes from Bruce in this episode...  “How do I not love myself enough, to do these things for my health and happiness? This became my ‘why’– find unconditional love for myself.”  “My macros, diet and workouts didn’t matter if my mindset wasn’t right. Once I fixed my mindset, I became unstoppable.”    Find more from Bruce:   Instagram: @brucepitcher  Book: Larger Than Life

7 Signs You Have an Ego Problem

Do you think you know everything and have nothing left to learn?  Do you try to control everything?   Do you think you’re already good enough and don’t need to grow?  Do you get defensive when someone provides you with criticism?  Do you think you’re more important than everyone else?  If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, you have an ego problem.  The one thing that will stop your progression more than anything on this planet is your ego.  You and your ego are two different things. If you’re living out of your ego, it will be impossible for you to become the best version of yourself, because your ego is your false self.  I’m not going to lie to you, I had an ego. I used to live through my false self, allowing my ego to control every part of me. I thought I was the best and the smartest and I couldn’t handle it when someone told me otherwise. I realized I was lying to myself when I thought these things.  The greatest thing I’ve learned, and my overall message for you in this episode, is to speak your truth. It wasn’t until I began speaking my truth and was able to overcome my ego problem, that I began to see real success in my life. I learned the hard way that our truth lies within ourselves and our false reality lies within our ego. That’s why I want to share with you seven signs of having an ego problem, empowering you to cultivate the same awareness and avoid making the same mistakes I did.  When you become aware of the fact that you are living in your false reality, and begin working towards living through your true self, you’ll experience more success in your life.  The last question is: do you have an ego problem?

Unleashing Your Inner Power with Chris Downing

What’s stopping you from reaching your goals? Most people would say it’s their lack of motivation. They think developing more motivation is the key to their success. But what they really need to do is determine the reason they are lacking it in the first place. Lack of motivation is just one layer. When you peel back that layer, you will expose yourself to what is actually keeping you from achieving your goals. You will reveal your insecurities and your fears, and your lack of self-confidence and self-love. You will realize it’s not motivation that’s been stopping you but is actually the fact that you have no idea the potential you hold within yourself. The hardest thing to accomplish in any goal isn’t the goal itself. The hardest thing is cultivating the ability to believe in yourself–believe you are capable of achieving your goal. No matter what you’re trying to accomplish, all the power you need is already within you, you just need to believe it’s there and work to unleash it. In this episode of Next Level, I’m joined by Chris Downing, Beachbody Super Trainer and motivational speaker, who will empower you to take your health, fitness and life to the next level through showing you how to unleash the power you already have within yourself.   Find more from Chris:  Instagram: @thechrisdowning Website: thechrisdowning.com

3 Ways to Change Your Negative Emotions

Your entire evolution of being a human is a pattern. The pattern begins with the information you take in. This information creates thoughts, and your thoughts create choices, which creates behaviors, experiences and emotions. All of this triggers new thoughts, and the pattern continues.   When you find yourself stuck in your life and aren’t taking in any new information, you get stuck with the same thoughts. If these thoughts are negative, they create negative emotions and so on. When you aren’t able to take control of these negative emotions, they take control of you and your life. If you allow your negative emotions to have control, it means you are never the one in control.   The question is, how can you change your negative emotions so you can finally regain control?  In this episode of Next Level, I share three practical and impactful ways to reverse engineer your psychology and successfully change your negative emotions.

How to Stop Falling Off the Fitness Wagon with Joel Freeman

Do you keep “falling off the wagon”?   If you answered yes, this episode of Next Level, is for you.   My guest, Joel Freeman, is committed to helping you live a happy, healthy life long term, and helping you find the right approach for reaching your health and fitness goals. A Beachbody Super Trainer, Master Fitness Presenter, creator of LIIFT4 and co-creator of CORE DE FORCE, with over 15 years of experience, he has become one of the leading personal trainers in the industry.   Joel is motivated by one thing: making a personal impact on people’s lives and helping them see that it doesn’t always have to be difficult to make the necessary changes. You don’t need quick fixes and you don’t need fad diets. You don’t need to overcomplicate nutrition and fitness. And, you don’t need to make it unmanageable in your day-to-day life. In this episode of Next Level, Joel explains what you can do instead.  My favorite thing Joel said in the episode was, “People always come to me saying they keep falling off the fitness wagon and it makes me so frustrated. If you keep falling off the same fitness wagon, you need to think about whether that wagon is working for you or not. Maybe it’s time to get on a different one. You need to be flexible in how you get there. Plan A may not be right for you, so you need to be open to Plan B or Plan C. This is why I don’t believe in wagons. I believe in paths and finding the right path that works for you.”  Joel raises a great point. If you are constantly falling off the fitness wagon, you need to evaluate what you are doing and why.  Is your diet or fitness routine leading you to your short-term goals by encouraging you to use fad diets and quick fixes? Or, is it leading you to your long-term goals that provide you with lifestyle changes you can remain consistent with for life? Are you on it because you know it’s what’s best for you and your body, or are you on it because everyone else has hopped on and you’re just following?  You need to look inward and be honest with yourself: Is what you’re doing to reach your goals maintainable?       Tune into the full episode to learn:  The purpose behind quick fixes and fad diets  The difference between short-term goals verse long-terms goals  What a balanced diet looks like  How to establish a sturdy nutritional foundation  The truth about cheat days  Why consistency helps you avoid deprivation   When to track macros  How to get more defined abs  Why you should never go all in all at once  How many days you should be working out each week    Find more from Joel: Website: joelfreemanfitness.com IG: @joelfreemanfitness

Why You Need to Be Selfish

What are the top three priorities in your life?   Are you number one? Are you even on the list?   If you aren’t, I can promise you, you’re not living your best life. We should all be at the top of our list.  In this episode I want to talk to you about selfishness. More importantly, I want to talk to you about how being selfish isn’t selfish at all. Being selfish is actually the least selfish thing you can do.  I challenge you to seriously answer the follower questions: If you aren’t putting yourself first, how can you give more to others when you have nothing left to give? How can you make others happy when you aren’t happy yourself? How can you ever expect to become a better version of yourself if you never save any energy for yourself?  You end up helping everyone else live their life to the fullest and forget about yourself. I mean, come on...you deserve to live your life to the fullest, too! You are a person and you have necessities, and you want all the things you’re so freely giving to others, so start saving some for yourself.  So, be honest with me right now, are you always serving everyone else in your life except for yourself?  It is my hope that this episode will encourage you to evaluate your level of selfishness and cultivate more of it.

The Mental Toughness Formula

Your mental transformation is an essential part of the equation when it comes to your physical transformation. It’s impossible to experience one without the other. You can eat all the healthy meals and spend all the hours in the gym, but you won’t successfully transform physically unless you also focus on transforming mentally.  Most of the obstacles we face, the ones holding us back from becoming the best versions of ourselves, are mental. Which means, it’s mandatory for us to obtain mental toughness to successfully overcome them and reach our goals.   So, where are you on your mental transformation?  It’s simple to keep track of where you are physically–either your jeans fit or they don’t, either you can do 5 pull ups or you can’t, either you feel energized or you don’t. But when it comes to your mental transformation, it’s much harder to know where you are at.  In this episode, I’m going to walk you through seven elements that contribute to your mental toughness. Together, we will take an audit of your level of mental toughness by talking through each element and determining where you are with each. We will determine which ones you are doing really well in, which ones you are lacking, which ones you need to focus more on.   At the end of this episode, you will know the next steps you need to take to build your mental toughness and reach your goals.

Why You Need to Embrace Change If You Want to Succeed

We all know the seasons are going to change. Summer turns into fall and fall will turn into winter. Each season may be shorter, longer, milder or harsher than another, but we know with full certainty the next season will always come. And with all things, change is inevitable and unavoidable. My question to you is, as the world around you is changing, how are you going to change with it?   Are you going to be chasing a future that is better than your present? Or, are you going to continue living your life defined by the emotions and experiences of your past? If you are locked into who you were yesterday, you’ll never be able to become a better version of yourself tomorrow.   If you want to transform your life, you need to embrace change, and not only embrace it, but strive for it. If you are going to bed at the same time, hanging around the same people, intaking the same information, eating the same foods, doing everything exactly the same in your life, how do you expect to  ever jumpstart change in your life? You need to step out of your comfort zone and experience something new.  In this episode, I challenge you to adopt change in your life. Your ability to adopt change determines whether or not you survive or thrive in your life. No one wants to just survive, so let’s do what it takes to thrive.     My only question is, are you ready?  Find more from me:  Instagram: @devan.kline Youtube: youtube.com/devankline Workout: burnbootcamp.com
