Charlotte Greenway brings you the Saturday Edition and starts by look at Saturday's Sprint Cup from Haydock with inout from trainer's Jerome Reynier and James Fanshawe on favourite Lazzat and fellow Wathnan owned Kind of Blue. Then onto France where Rosallion is looking to bag his first group 1 of the season in the Moulin and his trainer Richard Hannon explains the decision to send his colt here, having not been part of the original plan and finally Ed Walker shares his hopes for Almaqam in one of three competitive Arc trials on Sunday.
Nick once again coming to you from Burghley Horse Trials and joined this morning by the Mirror's David Yates. First up Richard Hannon joins the show, who is hoping that Rosallion will finally land a Group One in 2025 in Sunday's Prix du Moulin at Longchamp although he faces some stiff competition. Nick and Dave touch on the latest in the Hillsin case which is scheduled for a hearing next week before Wilf Walsh of the RCA explains why David Armstrong is stepping down as Chief Exec. Breeder John little shares his delight in the success he has seen Lady of Spain go onto with Roger Varian, the latest a Group 3 success, and he discussed his why he thought the mare was perfect for sire Phoenix of Spain. Then with the Malton open day taking place this weekend we hear from Beck Edmunds and finally Kevin Walsh offers a rebuttal to Charlie Brooks’s piece in the Telegraph earlier in the week, regarding the future of summer jumps racing.
Coming to you from Burghley Horse Trials today, Nick is joined by ITV's Oli Bell. Jim Mullen has his say on the harmonisation of the betting tax and what he hopes racing will achieve at next week’s lobbying in parliament Before Charlie Johnston discusses who may be in line to ride Lazy Griff now that Christophe Soumillon is required by Aidan O'Brien on St Leger weekend and Oli also shares who he would like to see on board. Ahead of this weekend's big race, the Sprint Cup from Haydock, Nick catches up with James Fanshawe, trainer of Kind Of Blue, who's been a bit disappointing this year but Nick asks whether we can expect him to bounce back on Saturday. Then we end the show by hearing from Simone Meloni, last year's thoroughbred industry employee of the year in situ at Seven Barrows for the launch of this year’s awards.
Nick is joined by Rishi Persad for a look at today's racing news. With huge autumn targets around the corner, Nick talks to trainers Ed Walker and George Murphy about two talented horses that have bypassed much of the summer. Walker outlines his plans to send Almaqam to the Prix Foy this weekend en route to the Arc, and also has news of a couple of potential Breeders' Cup starters. Meanwhile, Murphy reports White Birch to be spot on for the Irish Champion Stakes next weekend.
