In this episode of Nitrate, we belatedly break down the Golden Globe winners and losers. Mostly, we add things to our watch list before the Oscar nominations come out and applaud Borat's accomplishments.
This week we chat about the impending awards season with the announcement of the Golden Globe Nominations and the delayed Oscars after a year without movie theaters. We also discuss recent watches and our strange new obsession with rock climbing documentaries.
This week we cover the plight of the entertainment industry's obsession with the reboot, the reunion, and the spin-off. From the train wreck that is Jurassic World, the continuous gossip (or should we say threat) of a Friends reunion, and the lack of original content being put forward, sometimes things seem eerily repetitive. We call for new ideas, new book adaptions, and new voices to be highlighted in the world of cinema!
This week we chat our favorite new Netflix series: Bridgerton. A period-piece spin on the Gossip Girl trope, this hot new series is the diamond of the season.
In our first episode of the new year, we recap the two major movies that were released straight to streaming on Christmas Day: Wonder Woman 1984 and Pixar's Soul. While one left us wanting 2.5 hours of our life back, the other gains the special distinction as a movie we will return to time and time again.
From Christmas Vacation, The Santa Clause, and even the 1970s stop motion classics, we break down what movies we throw on during the Holiday Season!
This week we break down season 4 of The Crown. We will admit we have not fully watched seasons 1-3... but seeing Emma Corrin as Diana Spencer was too good to pass up and definitely worth the watch. In this episode, we break down the drama, history, and the tik toks that have been created surrounding this season.
This week we invite a special guest (hint: it's Sydney's roommate...Sydney) on to discuss what reality TV we have been watching recently. From TLC favorites to a marathon of Bravo's Below Deck, we reveal what trashy TV has been getting us through the first few dark weeks of Winter!
This week we chat about what we have recently watched on Netflix and beyond! From The Social Dilemma to The Queen's Gambit, we have been watching new content to get us through the dark winter months before the holidays.
This week we discuss the dumpster fire that is After We Collided.  Our teenage selves who were too heavily invested in this original Wattpad saga dive into the ins and outs of this fan-fiction turned silver screen event that doesn't do much but disappoint.
In this episode, we chat about the movies that introduced us to horror in our early years like Jeeper Creepers, The Exorcist, and even Paranomoal Activity. But when it comes to horror, we prefer substance to jump scares. This leads us to our recommendations for this Halloween. I'll give you a hint...we talk a lot of Jodan Peele and maybe mention the May Queen. What's your favorite movie that leaves you sleeping with the lights on?
This week we breakdown the newly released Netflix series, The Haunting of Bly Manor! From hidden ghosts to family drama we discuss our favorite moments from this season and rave about the season that started it all: The Haunting of Hill House. Do you have a TV series that is perfect for the spooky season?
From the Adams Family to the Rocky Horror Picture Show, this week we chat about the best cult classic movies to watch in the Halloween season. Do you have any plans to take on these iconic characters for your Halloween costume?
This week we are starting off the spooky season with our favorite Halloween movies that give us a sense of childhood nostalgia! From a haunted hotel room in the Tipton hotel to just a little Hocus Pocus, this week we chat movies that we watched when we were still trick or treating! What is your favorite Halloween movie from your childhood?
This week we start off discussing the new Netflix original, The Devil all the Time, which brings together Spiderman, Edward Cullen, and horrible backwoods accents. We also pick our annual must-watches when fall is in the air from movies with a note of nostalgia to spooky favorites that aren't quite ready for Halloween. What is your favorite movie to watch to get in ready for the pumpkin-spice season?
In this episode, we discuss recently dropped trailers, major casting announcements, and our favorite Tik Tok trends that are brining home the middle school nostalgia. What movie news are you most excited for?
Okay, let's get down to business. We all know that Disney's live-action Mulan was a much-anticipated release, especially with the added delays as a result of COVID-19. But is it worth the hefty fee that comes on top of your Disney+ subscription? In this episode, we break down the differences between the animated and live-action renditions as well as discuss our overall live-action fatigue. Follow us on Instagram @nitrate_podcast to tell us if you think Mulan hit the mark!
From a great origin story to a killer fight sequence, superhero movies are expected to pack a punch both emotionally...and literally. In this episode, we break down our favorite characteristics of the superhero genre!
This week we break down out favorite non-Disney animated films. From Shrek to Coraline, we chat animated films and what makes them great. We also dive into some topical movie news such as the theatrical release of Christopher Nolan's Tenet and recently debuted trailers.
