#917 | Ed and Dharnish pick apart United’s victory over Chelsea - a win that raised as many questions as it answered. We dig into the tactical tweaks, the reliance on direct attacks, and the conversation about mentality on and off the pitch. We wrap with a Brentford preview, where defensive organisation and lineup choices could prove decisive.

#916 | Ed and Daniel pull apart United’s chaotic victory over Chelsea – a game defined by red cards, questionable substitutions, but a result that eases the pressure on Ruben Amorim.
We get into the impact of Casemiro’s dismissal, the defensive approach that left United hanging on, and a set of substitutions that only made things worse. Up front, poor decision-making in the final third and muddled wing-back positioning are laid bare.
There’s bigger-picture chat too: United's midfield issues, waiting for new attacking signings to fully bed in, and the sight of ex-Reds thriving elsewhere. Plus: a nod to United Women’s progress in Europe, a look ahead to fixtures coming up, and a brief chat about the financial fog that surrounds the club.

#915 | Jamie and Ed dig into United’s full-year 2025 results - headline number: record revenue of £666 million. That’s the good news. The rest is a little murkier. They pick apart Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Omar Berrada’s financial playbook, the Europa League bump that inflated the top line, and the bullish outlook for 2026. There’s plenty of risk too - miss out on Europe again and the house of cards wobbles.
The pod takes in transfer profits, debt and credit facilities, and whether the new regime can actually tame United’s long-running addiction to commercial cash. Sponsorships are up, but so are the questions: how sustainable is this model if results on the pitch keep tanking? Finally, the lads look ahead to future reports, stadium and infrastructure investment, and what it all means for United’s ability to compete in the market.

#907 | Ed and Adam sift through a grim cup exit. United came back from two down but then blew it in the shoot-out. The bigger picture is far more important than one defeat to League Two opposition - another mess of a tactical performance, another goalkeeping error, more questions about the manager. Amorim’s ideas are still being bolted onto a mismatched squad, so compromises are everywhere. With the window closing situation is stark: exist must get done but its unclear anybody new is coming in. : And could on of those exits be totally unpalatable?

#905 | United left Craven Cottage with a point and a bad taste in the mouth. Ed and Wayne pick through a draw defined by Bruno’s wasted spot-kick and a system still knitting itself together under Ruben Amorim. The conversation gets into the midfield balance, how Kobbie Mainoo’s omission has become a talking point, and why United’s out-of-possession shape keeps exposing the back three. There’s a frank look at the goalkeeper equation, set-piece execution, and what the data says about United's performance. The pod ends with a look ahead to Grimsby in the League Cup.

#904 | Transfer market chaos, some actual planning, and Fulham on deck. Nine days to go in the transfer window. United’s has been… relatively sane. It's not the same everywhere else. Ed and Tom pick through the ins and outs, what’s still to do, and why watching rivals flail is the best bit of deadline season. We talk United’s strategy and where the last pieces fit. Sancho’s limbo, Antony’s future, Garnacho’s exit, Højlund moving on, and the goalkeeper problem that refuses to go away. There’s a quick detour into Bundesliga broadcast rights, a look at what the Arsenal defeat actually told us, and a preview of Fulham.

#903 | On this week’s United Inc, Ed and Jamie cut through the noise on United’s finances. New sponsors in, what the late-window shuffle means for PSR, and how the club might actually pay for a new Old Trafford - equity, debt, and the thorny question of personal seat licences. #902 | Ed, Dharnish and Daniel pull apart United’s performance against Arsenal. The shape out of possession looked cleaner, United broke the first press often enough, but box occupation and decision making let them down. United's build-up worked far better, yet the final action and consistent presence in the area still lagged behind the approach play. Much better overall.
What’s inside
Pressing shape – where it worked, where it fell apart, and how the front line triggered the press.
Breaking the press – patterns that beat Arsenal’s first line and why United needed more third-man runs.
Box presence – too few bodies attacking space, poor timing on cut-backs, and wasteful shot selection.
Midfield roles – Cunha between lines, Mount as connector, and the knock-on effects for the rest defence.
Wide areas and full backs – when the overlap helped, when it clogged lanes, and how to create better threats.
Buildup problems – clean exits from the first phase that fizzled before the final pass.

Takeaway
Progress in structure, not yet in punch. United can reach good zones against strong pressure. The next step is simple to say and hard to do – arrive in the box with numbers, improve the last touch, and turn control into goals.

#901 | Ed and Daniel talk about United's defeat to Arsenal at Old Trafford. It was largely settled by a single goalkeeping error. The performance was markedly better: heavy possession, more than twice Arsenal’s shots and real influence from new signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, who were standouts. They break down what worked, what didn’t and why the result flatters the visitors. The discussion turns to recruitment: can United address the ‘keeper situation before the 1 September deadline, and is midfield business still on the cards? Decisions in the next couple of weeks will shape the season.

Thanks for the great show. Is there something wrong with my Patreon? This episode didn't turn up.
Adverts....
Negative. Downbeat. Kinda wack.
Shite
Really enjoying the content and tone. The politics is context and I think it's absolutely necessary. Thank you for the regularity too.
The show has descended into a bi weekly lecture on intersectionality and general woke bullshit.. Ed and Paul used to have an everyday fan point of view for years but the last few seasons they have decided to virtual signal the shit out of a once great podcast while infantilizing black and female players..
When do you think Ed and Paul will figure out that people who subscribe to a Manchester United podcast don't want to hear about politics? Otherwise we would just subscribe to a political podcast?
I've been listening to NQAT or what I know as The Rant Cast on and off for over a decade now. The chat about United is mostly good and informative, however the divergence in to politics has increased as the years have gone on. The typical labels of calling anyone who challenges Ed and Paul's views as racist, sexist, bigots, to name but a few have become tiresome over time. In the latest pod there was a sizeable amount of time spent talking politics over previewing the Manchester Derby.
not suee if you read these comments but you will lose a listener if you keep your Shaw agenda
very obvious agenda against Shaw which is so poor of you. clearly our whole team is suffering ever since his injury and you are trying to target him as a weak link. it must be personal as otherwise you don't really know football...
I was at this one...amazing 2nd half, in those days we believed anything was possible.
If these two stuck to football instead of speaking of American politics then this will be a much better podcast.
love the show
When they discuss United it's a quality listen, but too often Ed wants to be divisive and always go on about how some fans are idiots, racists, bigots. etc etc.... If it happened once then it wouldn't be a problem, but Ed is probably one of the worst hosts I've ever listened too. Paul is quality and often looks for the good in situations.
'bout effing time
