We’re back and ready to dive into HBO’s 2007 drama—Tell Me You Love Me! In this episode we get introduced to our cast of characters: Kate and Dave are a 40-something couple and the passion between them is dwindling fast; Carolyn and Palek are a 30-something couple looking to go from DINKs to DIWKs (that acronym, not so catchy); Hugo and Jamie are 20-somethings whose fire burns hot and bright but is also unwieldy; and finally Dr. May Foster (and her husband Arthur), who is our couples therapist who has to listen to these people’s problems while also having problems of her own.Tell Me You Love Me, HBO, relationships, therapy, communication, drama, couples, intimacy, 2007, television, fertility, marriage, 2000s fashion, cultural reflections, emotional struggles, nostalgiaFollow us onInstagramhttps://www.instagram.com/noseasontwopodBlueskyhttps://bsky.app/profile/noseasontwopod.bsky.social Hosted on Acast. (Recorded on June 8, 2025) We’ve made it to the season recap everyone! We’re dishing our opinions on the full season of the 1991 cult classic tv show “Dark Shadows.” We’ll be talking about our favorite and least favorite episodes, our big winners and losers of the season, and we fantasy cast a non-existent 2025 reboot (it gets wild). Of course it wouldn’t be a complete show if George didn't give us a music history lesson and Meaghan didn’t have anecdote to share.Dark Shadows, TV shows, episode recap, character dynamics, soap opera, campy moments, character development, supernatural drama, 1990s television, horror themes, relationship dynamics, nostalgiaFollow us onInstagramhttps://www.instagram.com/noseasontwopodBlueskyhttps://bsky.app/profile/noseasontwopod.bsky.social Hosted on Acast. (Recorded on June 1, 2025) Up this week is the final episode of the 1991, cult classic tv show Dark Shadows, that we’re lovingly calling, “The Leap Home.” While Victoria sits in her jail cell, Joshua and Peter are the defying the laws of time and distance to get a stay of execution from the Governor. Naomi hears her son calling to her through his portrait and finds him crying in the old house. Abigail gets her just deserts (and Barnabas just gets dessert). We finally find out what happened to Sarah (it’s not good). Barnabas and Ben team up one last time and it has Reverend Trask doing backsies on that whole “Victoria Winters is a witch thing.” Peter hand delivers a letter to the judge exonerating his client but things are never that simple when Angelique is around. Barnabas wants his father to put him out of his misery, but Joshua can’t bring himself to do it. In 1991, Angelique has found a new host and poor Phyllis is the object of her rage. Victoria resigns herself to he fate, but there’s a last ditch effort in 1991 to try and get her home. Plus, Meaghan uses some witchcraft of her own, George does the Stonk, and we talk 18th century medicine—it’s surprising anyone made it out alive! (Recorded May 25, 2025) Up this week is episode eleven (ep 12 for the purposes of the tile) of the 90’s tv show, Dark Shadows, which we're dubbing, “If The Dress Doesn’t Fit, You Must Acquit.” It’s the trial of the century (the 18th century) and Victoria is finally having her day in court. Peter is representing her as she stands accused of being a witch. A totally normal thing back then because America has alway been weird. This trial has everything: wigs, tiny little straw dolls, men in pilgrim costumes, and scorned lover back from the dead. And while all of this is going on, the rest of the gang works to get Josette safely through her fifth night in Collinwood. Unfortunately, since she let Barnabas go to town on her neck, she’s under his spell. He beckons her to be by his side for all eternity, but will she be a runaway bride? Plus, Meaghan has a bone to pick with George; George meets a real live Barnabas; and we throw in as much O.J. content as we can. (Recorded May 18, 2025) Up this week is episode ten (ep 11 for the purposes of the tile) of the 90’s tv show, Dark Shadows, that we’re calling, “Are You There God? It’s Me, Barnabas.” Peter shares the Collinsport Family History Book with Countess Natalie, who struggles to believe it contains the truth. Joshua calls a house meeting and tells everyone they’re moving into the new Collinwood, the current place has bad juju. Barnabas has sailed to England, and by England we mean his father placed is coffin in the family mausoleum. Barnabas wakes up hungry and goes out for a bite. Abigail invites Reverend Trask over so they can continue to blame Victoria for everything even though she is still in Lockup: Collinsport. Natalie convinces Josette that they must leave, but Josette goes to the old house looking for her music box, but finds an old flame instead. Plus, George and Meaghan discuss their seasonal allergies, dark money in politics, and if Josette and Barnabas are playing a game of, “no, I’m sorry!” (Original network airdate March 8, 1991)Dark Shadows, TV shows, episode recap, character dynamics, soap opera, campy moments, character development, supernatural drama, 1990s television, horror themes, relationship dynamics, nostalgiaFollow us onInstagramhttps://www.instagram.com/noseasontwopodBlueskyhttps://bsky.app/profile/noseasontwopod.bsky.social Hosted on Acast. (Recorded May 11, 2025) Up this week is episode nine (ep ten on the tile, but you get it) of the 90’s tv show, Dark Shadows, that we’ve dubbed, “Single White Female.” The Collins family buries their hottest son, Jeremiah (but will he stay buried?) and Aunt Abigail calls in Reverend Trask not perform the service, but to arrest Victoria for witchcraft! Angelique, the real witch works up another spell, but this time it goes a bit awry. Barnabas finally takes a little bit of responsibility for the mess he’s caused but still lets Josette feel like it might have been all her fault. We learn that Peter is also a lawyer. A lawyer, honey! This man is now the best catch in Collinsport and we’re the only ones that can see it! In 1991, Phyllis is on deaths door (what kind of doctor is Julia again?) and the gang decides to hold another séance. The last one went so well they decided to do it again! And this time, instead of someone leaving, someone comes back. Plus, Meaghan figures out her villain origin story (hint: it involves the DMV), George tells us how he got to live out his Road House fantasy, and we debate some time travel theories. (Recorded May 4, 2025) This week we are discussing episode eight (ep nine for the purposes of this podcast) of the cult classic revival of Dark Shadows, that we’re calling, “There Can Be Only One," and boy is it a doozy. Josette finally arrives to Collinwood and we finally find out the origin story for that stupid music box. While Barnabas rolls around in the grass with Josette, Angelique doesn’t even wait a day to cast a spell that will ruin his life in many ways. Victoria stays not beating the allegations that she’s insane and a witch (and that’s not even because she taught the children Over the Rainbow). Jeremiah keeps being hot (the brocade vest somehow makes him hotter?) and unfortunately, that hotness leads to his downfall. Plus, Meaghan discovers a late 80’s gem, George does the Bartman, and we discuss what would've been a more satisfying approach to ruining a life had we been Angelique. (Recorded on April 30, 2025) This week we are discussing episode seven, “You, Me, and du Prés” from the cult classic, 90's tv show, Dark Shadows. We’re introduced to the Collins family in 1790 as Victoria Winters is hurled back in time via a séance gone wrong. Victoria stumbles her way into the position of tutor at Collinwood (with the help of a very handsome Peter Bradford). Barnabas keeps telling everyone how much Victoria looks like Josette (we get it dude!). We finally meet Barnabas’s hot brother, Jeremiah and the fact that is just now showing up is a real disservice to the show. Barnabas’s nosey Aunt Abigail can’t help but think there is something off about Victoria and enlists the help of Reverend Trask. And Angelique does her best to seduce Barnabas but when things go wrong she finds her own minion in Ben Loomis. Plus, George has a lot of thoughts on theaters that are also restaurants; Meaghan tries her hand at a French accent; and we both think Angelique is going after the wrong brother. (Recorded on April 20, 2025) This week we have a very special episode we're calling, “Opening the Coffin,” and we are chatting about the first half of the season of Dark Shadows with Dustin Holden from The Rewatch Recap! We do a special speed round of questions with Dustin: favorite character, favorite episode, which Collins family member he would dress as if he was invited to the costume party, etc. Dustin fills in some gaps for us with his knowledge of the original series. We talk what about works and what doesn’t work in the series (very little!). And Dustin hints at what we can look forward to in the last half of the season! (Recorded on April 13, 2025) This week we are discussing episode six, “Nannies in the Mist,” from the cult classic tv show, Dark Shadows. It’s the day of the costume party at Collinwood and Carolyn is officially a minion of Barnabas. Roger complains about all the guests that are just there for the free food; Dr. Hoffman tries to pretend like she didn’t betray Barnabas; the costume party makes Barnabas nostalgic for the 18th century; Maggie busts out a Ouija board at the after party; Sheriff Patterson consults it for some help; Carolyn finds the only antique shop in town selling arsenic; David gets in trouble doing Sarah’s bidding; Angelique’s hell ghost is back; there’s a good, old fashioned, family séance; and Victoria takes the trip of a lifetime. The days are incredibly long in Collinsport and we pick up a few hours after episode four ends. Victoria has dinner with Barnabas and he presents her with a gift; Dr. Hoffman finds out Barnabas’s plans for Victoria and she devises a plan of her own; Carolyn needs to learn boundaries; Joe is a messy eater; Maggie has a vision; Victoria spends the night at the old house; Barnabas can’t control his urges; Carolyn has bad timing; and Willie is just out here doing his best. Plus, George is grossed out by the thought of wearing 200 year old clothing, Meaghan loses her mind over Joe, and we discuss our favorite Val Kilmer movies. (Recorded on March 30, 2025) We’re back this week with episode four of the 90’s tv series Dark Shadows and we're calling this one, “Twisted Firestarter.” We pick up right where we left off in episode three—Michael’s made a life changing decision; Julia’s got her eyes on Josette’s music box; Sarah’s back and trying to get a message to Victoria; Barnabas doesn’t know how to accept a gift; Roger’s secret art studio is discovered; David plays with matches; Maggie tries to warn Victoria; and Willie fears that Angelique might harm Barnabas. Plus, George wonders if Dark Shadows might be building too big of a world; Meaghan gives Maggie some dating advice; and we reminisce about the first time we recorded this episode—it's gone, but forever in our hearts. (Recorded on March 9, 2025) This week we are delving into episode three of the cult classic tv show Dark Shadows, “The Nutty Professor.” In this episode, Professor Michael can’t stay out of his own way; Julia uses comically sized medical instruments; Barnabas gets his first gray hair; Victoria is wooed with some Byron; Roger throws Michael under the bus; Joe wants to try his luck in Bimini; and Sarah visits David in the family tomb.Plus, Meaghan stresses over the podcast; George is being held together by soup; and of course we can’t stop talking about OJ. Up this week is episode two of the gothic soap opera, Dark Shadows, and we're calling this one: “Did Somebody Say Stake?” In this episode, Daphne can’t escape the vampiric powers of Barnabas; Joe falls asleep on the job; Roger gets some; Professor Michael keeps something very special in his medicine bag; the Collinsport police department keeps giant crucifixes in their arsenal; and Julia has her eyes on a Nobel Prize in medicine. Also, George finally turns on his microphone; Meaghan won’t shut up about Joe; and we question exactly how one gets turned into a vampire on this show.Dark Shadows, TV shows, episode recap, character dynamics, soap opera, campy moments, character development, supernatural drama, 1990s television, horror themes, relationship dynamics, nostalgia Hosted on Acast. (Recorded on February 23, 2025) Episode One is here! And since these episodes have no titles, we’re creating our own! We’re calling this one, “The Nanny Diaries,” because Victoria Winters, the recently hired governess at the Collinwood estate in Collinsport, Maine is providing some much need narrative context. Victoria isn’t the only new person in town, cousin Barnabas from England has also arrived, coincidentally at the same time a bunch of bad stuff starts happening! Shockingly, the police aren’t very good at putting these two things together. Also, Meaghan and George discuss the relatively new OJ Simpson documentary on Netflix; George is blown away by a young Joseph Gordon Levitt performance; and Meaghan is tired of men’s daddy issues. We’re back for season three! This season we're headed to the Collinsport to discuss the 1991 revival of the gothic, now in primetime soap opera, Dark Shadows. Each week we’ll be breaking down the episodes, sharing what we thought were the campiest moments, and of course picking our winners and losers. Join us as we break into cousin Barnabas's coffin and answer the question: Should the Dark Shadow's revival had a second season? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
