Description
Not Now, I'm Reading is a book club and fandom discussion podcast!
Once a week, online besties and all-around lady nerds Chelsea and Kay get together to discuss all different sorts of genre reads, fan fiction and pop culture.
When picking reads, our guiding principle is that we want to read things that make us happy. From comics to romance, through science-fiction, young adult, crime or fantasy – pretty much anything that can be classed as genre fiction goes, as long as it’s something we can gush about.
We always aim to be critical readers but we want this show to be a space for positivity and celebrating fiction that gets things right. No book is perfect, but there are some damn good ones, and we want to be reading them.

In our first episode back from our winter vacation, we have lots of new and exciting things to share with you! The first (and most obvious) is that we've modified our posting schedule. We're going to be posting new episodes every other week, though it looks like they'll be quite long, so the amount of content you're getting will be about the same. We're also launching a Patreon page! You'll find our website content mirrored there for free (including the show notes and transcripts) and some great additional content if you sign on as one of our patrons. We're also going to spend a great deal of time talking about all the great (and not so great) things we read while we were on vacation. Plus we're going to make a very inaccurate Oscar prediction. (Michael Stuhlbarg did not get an Oscar nod and WE ARE CURRENTLY VERY BITTER ABOUT IT.) We're excited for all the new things happening in 2018 and hope you are, too!

For this, our final episode of 2017 (and a very happy holiday to anyone celebrating, and a lovely Monday to all) we're discussing our most-hyped movie of the year: Star Wars: The Last Jedi. We swear we loved it a lot, even though we spend a great deal of this episode picking to pieces things we thought could've been done differently. We also talk about our current reads and what we've got coming up next.
As a quick reminder, we'll be taking January off from the podcast to rest, relax, and ready some awesome new content for 2018. We want to thank each and every one of you who has listened to the podcast, read the transcripts, and chatted with us on Twitter. It's been so wonderful getting to hear from you and talking about our favorite reads and fandom things this year. We hope we'll see you when we return in February. Until then, happy reading and a happy new year!

While we don't touch much on the movie's themes of imperialism and colonialism in the podcast, we've included a few links from some super smart folks for you to check out if interested! Apologies for the audio quality from Kay's end for this episode. It sounds like she's recording in an echo-chamber, but that should be fixed next episode.
