For Dariann Leigh, this is so much more than country music. From her one-stop town in Karlstad, Minnesota (population 713), Dariann captured the star power of the original women of country music. From lyrics bleeding through static-filled radios and scratched CDs. Dariann Leigh doesn’t just want to make music, she wants to write the soundtrack for hairbrush singers, dashboard drummers and air guitar players everywhere. Dariann has been featured on The Boot, CMT, and more with her previous single's "Closer", "Let Me Go", "10,000 miles", and most recently with her new single "Leave".As a kid,” Says Leigh, “I remember closing my eyes, plugging my headphones in and listening to tracks that ended up being the theme songs to my daydreams. I want to be that artist for someone else.”This description was created in part by summarizing and rearranging the biography sent by the guest._____________________________________Her Website: https://www.dariannleigh.com/Check out her music here: https://open.spotify.com/artist/6nj2CwwP1Iv52qEZFYoY47_____________________________________Link to all things Not in a Huff Podcast: https://linktr.ee/notinahuffpodcastPlease follow/subscribe to the podcast to be the first to see new episodes when they come out each week. We tie up some lose ends of questions about the legendary game that is Bop It that I had since we talked about 18 months ago. But, we spend most of this chat talking about the new game from inspiration, to the mechanics of it, to his plan to share it with everyone very soon. In this chat we dive much deeper than normal into one specific thing (this time the Sling It game), but it provides a great look at how the games we know and love happen from start to finish._____________________________________Sling It Website: https://slingitgame.com/Check on Dan's Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/bopitinventor/_____________________________________Link to all things Not in a Huff Podcast: https://linktr.ee/notinahuffpodcastPlease follow/subscribe to the podcast to be the first to see new episodes when they come out each week. This week we dive back into the world of the Independent Fundamental Baptist (IFB) movement. A church that many call a cult. We speak more specifically this time about their homes for "troubled teens". Some of these teens sent to these homes needed mental health counseling, some were being "ungodly", and others sent away for simple things such as smoking a cigarette. Regardless of the reasons we learn this week that these homes were at best ill equipped to help and at worse an abusive place that brutally punished and terrorized those they were asked to help. I talk with Amanda Householder who was featured in the documentary "Let Us Prey" that exposed IFB for what it is. She grew up in the troubled teens homes that were AGAPE and Circle of Hope not necessarily because she was a troubled teen herself, but because her parents (now charged with over 100 crimes) ran the facilities. This is a powerful chat._____________________________________Amanda's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/berlinvonmortis/_____________________________________Link to all things Not in a Huff Podcast: https://linktr.ee/notinahuffpodcastPlease follow/subscribe to the podcast to be the first to see new episodes when they come out each week.
