Reverse
There’s some really big octave+ stretches for the left hand in Kakariko Village.
Piano store ambience
Here’s some riffs from my “Used Riffs” folder.
I made these digital/machine-type sounds with my nostril!
The 5th and 6th grade summer camp string orchestra consisted of:- Four violins- Two violas- Eight cellos- One bassI guess cello is having a moment!Suffice to say, those aren't the proportions they have in Serious Orchestras, but obviously you gotta let the kids play what they actually want to play, and that config didn't sound bad at all. They also had a subset of the high school orchestra play, and they were very tight. I have never played this well in my life. My high school orchestra came nowhere close to this level. Anyway, it was a good idea to have them play. I think both middle schoolers to be and parents were motivated by it.
Castlevania Rush E
Intense Chicago cicadas
Super Mario range challenge
The H2N is solid. I used it to record the guy's recital (he played Für Elise), but I also recorded video with the iPhone. The iPhone audio distorts in few places and has muddier bass. (It is still amazing given that its mics are tiny.) The H2N did pick up the sound of my feet moving, but that could have been my mistake for putting it on the floor.
I bought a Zoom H2N handheld recorder from Goodwill, and I knew there was a risk there but was still disappointed that it added a quiet but audible pitched noise (maybe around 1760 Hz?) to its recordings. You can hear it in the first bit of audio I attached. So, today, I took it to the basement and took it apart to see if there was anything obviously wrong with it. Nothing. I put it back together and tried it out. No 1760 Hz whine! Miraculous. Like turning a computer off and back on again to fix something. You can hear that in the last recording. When I brought it back upstairs, the whine was back. Dant-dant-dah!So, I went downstairs and tried it out and found there was no whine.I didn't fix anything, but there is something upstairs that gets picked up by the H2N. Good enough! I can live with not using it upstairs.
We went to the NEC Brass Bash (well, half of it because it ran too late for the guy), and the played an all-French-horn Jurassic Park! The best piece, though, was Eric Ewazen’s Concert Fanfare. I didn’t bootleg that, but here’s MUSIK UND KUNSTPRIVATUNIVERSITÄTDER STADT WIEN performance of it.Half of the power came from the acoustics of that concert hall, though. To this day, large acoustic performances in space like that haven’t been captured by recordings.
Some nice hard rain is happening.
The guy is trying to learn Cave Story on cello now.
Dracula’s Recital
These high schoolers warming up have a really mature tone.
Egg StackersI wrote some filler music this morning. Even though it’s purpose is transition, I still want it to be good, like the acoustic bits on Master of Reality.
Some sounds from our house
We now have two trumpets in the house! Hooray for affordable plastic trumpet technology.
I thought I came up with this riff, but it sounds very familiar.
The guy can play the Mario 3 Airship BGM! (AKA, Mars, Bringer of War, Jr.)
