The Unexpected Appeal of Luxury Watches with Bezel CEO Quaid Walker

This week’s guest is Quaid Walker, co-founder and CEO of Bezel, a watch marketplace that is, amongst other things, surprisingly popular with Gen Z. We chat to Quaid about how he got started, what’s changed in the marketplace in the last few years, and just how the whole Bezel process works. Christopher Ward’s Design Director explains The Twelve 660

This week, we have a fascinating chat with Adrian Buchmann, a veteran watch designer who’s spent the last few years playing a key role in Christopher Ward’s design department. We chat with Buchmann about how the famously accessible brand’s design is evolving, why the Bel Canto and Loco mark a pivotal change, and what the challenges were in creating the new, super-slim The Twelve 660. Before that, we chat about Paulin’s first dive watch, why Roger Dubuis might be the next big thing and Taylor Swift’s Cartier Panthère. Zach Weiss, co-founder of Worn & Wound, on microbrands, media and more

When it comes to Zach's in watch media, you could say we've saved the best till last. Zach Weiss is one of the co-founders of Worn & Wound, a watch news site that has been championing accessible watch enthusiasm since 2011. Andy chats to Zach about how the term 'microbrand' continues to be challenging to define, how much media has evolved over the years, and how Worn & Wound is staying true to its roots while adding more to its offering. Before that, Felix and Andy ask at what point a value proposition ceases to be a good value as prices continue to rise. Speaking to Franck Muller’s CEO Nicholas Rudaz, in the new Sydney Boutique

This week - Franck Muller CEO Nicholas Rudaz. Andy and Felix recently hopped on a plane to check out Franck Muller’s brand new Sydney boutique on Castlereagh Street, and found it just as full of curvy, colourful watches as you’d expect. While there, they sat down with CEO Nicholas Rudaz, who explained why Franck Muller has always been bold, just what those rabbits are doing and why he’s sure brand founder Franck Muller had nothing to do with Jay-Z’s customised Rolex perpetual calendar.  This week’s episode has been sponsored by Kennedy. In conversation with Parmigiani Fleurier in Australia

This week we’ve got something a bit different for you — a conversation with Parmigiani Fleurier, specifically Luca Castellani, Chief Commercial Officer and Theodore Panos, the brand’s Managing Director for South East Asia and Australia. A little while ago, we hosted an event with the brand at Kennedy’s Chadstone boutique, showcasing their latest (and greatest) watches, and Felix had a chat with Luca and Theodore to highlight what makes the brand special, including a remarkable amount of expertise for a younger brand, and a surprising royal connection.  Discover more about Parmigiani Fleurier at Kennedy, who have sponsored this episode.  Show Notes: https://www.otpodcast.com.au/show-notes OT: Discord - https://discord.com/invite/X3Vvc9z7aV How to follow us: https://www.instagram.com/ot.podcast https://www.facebook.com/otpodcastau https://instagram.com/andygreenlive https://instagram.com/fkscholz Send us an email: otthepodcast@gmail.com If you liked our podcast, please remember to like/share and subscribe.

This week, we continue our Zach-attack with Zach Kazan, the Managing Editor of Worn & Wound. We talk to Zach about some of the watches that have been getting his attention this year, and why American-made watches seem to be on the up. We also dive into Zach’s other love — cinema — and finally answer the eternal question ‘Nic Cage, good or bad?’ as well as his Letterboxd top four on-screen watch moments. IWC and F1, D1 Milano and a watch for Dungeons & Dragons

This week, Andy and Felix catch up on a busy few weeks as well as some watch-shaped deliveries that have made their way to the OT office. But first, Felix (literally and figuratively) puts on his film reviewer hat to talk about the F1 movie, and the many IWCs that can be spotted in it. Then, a brief chat about travel and Roger Dubuis, before we dive into the mailbag and come up with a beautiful bespoke strap from anOrdain, some good, honest fun from D1 Milano and the Timestop D-20, a dice-rolling watch made for the Dungeons & Dragons aficionados on the go.   This week’s episode is sponsored by IWC. Zach Piña on Adventure and Photography, plus the new Baume & Mercier Clifton

Unlike the vast majority of people working in the “watch media’ today’s guest, Zach Piña lives the daring life of adventure that you see in glossy watch advertisements. This is because Zach is one of the people responsible for creating these advertisements. We talk to Zach about diving under waves, racing classic cars in the desert and taking to the skies in pursuit of the perfect shot. We also chatted about his history in watches, why the Golden Eye pause menu was a core memory, and which industry figure would make a great Bond villain.  Before that, we talk about why the Baume & Mercier Clifton is one of the best watches of 2025 and some stylish new updates to the integrated Riviera.  This week’s episode has been sponsored by Baume & Mercier, check out their 2025 collection here.  Derek Guy (Die, Workwear) watches and immigration (2:15) John C Reilly on Throwing Fits (3:15) Vacheron Constantin the Quest in Sydney (3:40) Interview with Zach Piña (11:22) Zachery Piña on Instagram The Pip Like watches? IWC’s Chief Design Officer, Christian Knoop, on updating the Ingenieur in 2025

Christian Knoop is one of our favourite IWC people to speak to, and this week, we flashback to Geneva when Andy caught up with the talented Chief Design Officer to get the inside story on how the brand managed to sensitively add new sizes and complications — not to mention materials — to its popular Ingenieur while staying true to the values of the brand and the integrity of the watch. Before that, Felix and Andy pondered why the watches we forget about are sometimes the best and why the latest MB&F is so surprising.  This week’s episode is sponsored by IWC. IWC Museum Curator David Seyffer on the hidden history of the Ingenieur

Continuing our exploration of IWC’s 2025 collection this week, Felix chats to IWC Museum Curator David Seyffer, a walking encyclopaedia of IWC history, who gives us a lesson on some of the lesser-known Ingenieur models which provide a precedent for the new materials and complications added to the collection this year. He also offers some insight into how generational shifts lead to changing tastes among watch collectors and the brand’s legacy of purpose-built instruments. Fred Savage on why he started Timepiece Grading Specialists

For many of us, Fred Savage was an important part of our formative years, thanks to his roles in The Wonder Years and The Princess Bride. He's also an established director and producer, but for watch enthusiasts, he’s famous for another on-screen role — Hodinkee’s Talking Watches, in which he appeared in 2018. The One Where We Predict Watches & Wonders 2025

Yes, we had to do it. Kenneth Lam, founder of Arken Watch Company

Arken Watch Company was born (like so many creative projects), in the middle of a lockdown. Kenneth Lam, always interested in modding Seiko’s and the like, decided to design his own watch. The result was the Arken Instrumentum, a limited release followed a few years later by the clever travel timer that is the Alterum. Arken aims to create genre-free titanium tool watches with unique and practical functions — and it’s safe to say the young brand is delivering on that mission. Zoë Abelson, founder of Graal Watch on the watch market and finding grails for other people

This week, we've got the final file from Felix's Hong Kong adventure, and we've undoubtedly saved the best til last. Zoë Abelson, better known on Instagram as @watchgirloffduty has built a life and a career hunting down rare timepieces. These days that business has coalesced into Graal Watch, which makes her the perfect person to find that obscure reference. We chat with Zoë about the pros and cons of hunting other people's grails and explore the ambiguities implicit in the watch dealers' role as tastemakers, as well as what those tastes are looking like today: pro tip — smaller watches are where it's at.
