Meet Anneke Elmhirst, a very interesting person who deals with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). I still think the diagnosis of ADHD is wrongly named since you don’t have to be Hyperactive. Also, I believe ADHD is just a different type of brain that has it’s advantages like hyperfocus and thinking out of the box. It is only a disorder from the viewpoint of the neurotypical. Anneke also thinks she has some Autistic symptoms.Find out how Anneke helps herself with her lack of focus and concentration. She also does virtual counseling for neurodivergent who are able to converse on the phone. Check out her website included in the description of this episode. The last half of the episode (about 21 minutes in) we go into her unusual practice of Polyamory which is the practice of, or the desire for, romantic relationships with more than one partner at the same time, with the informed consent of all partners involved.I know this is controversial and I don’t agree or disagree with this lifestyle. However, I thought it important to discuss and keep it real. If you want to bypass this section, please listen only to the first half for our discussion on ADHD.In any case this is an informative episode that I hope you enjoy.Anneke Elmhirst sites:Main Website (counseling): https://www.allforlovecoaching.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/anneke.elmhirstInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/allforlovecoaching/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/anneke-elmhirst/OTR sites:Podcast Website: https://bobadleman.wixsite.com/otrmentalhealthMail:          OvertheRainbowbob@gmail.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/otrachievingmentalhealhfrInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/over_the_rainbow_achieving  Twitter:     https://twitter.com/overtherain1bownYouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChEYTddPDUaiZbFliit1r5Q This podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Podder - https://www.podderapp.com/privacy-policyChartable - https://chartable.com/privacyPodtrac - https://analytics.podtrac.com/privacy-policy-gdrp

This episode we talk to Doctor Cristina Castagnini who fully recovered from an eating disorder and now gives personal and professional perspectives about struggles with food, weight, and body image. She has 25 years of clinical experience as a licensed psychologist and certified eating disorder specialist. This is a mental health issue that doesn’t get talked about enough. You hear about women and men, especially teens, who suffer in silence. Some do not get any treatment at all, until its too late. Not eating or binge eating are serous conditions. They could well lead to organ damage or death.Social media targets our children with messages that they are not good enough. Society also pressures people, especially teenagers, to fit into a certain body type. This could lead to the development of an eating disorder. We agree that most people who diet gain back the weight and they yoyo back and forth. However, I think in general, people should eat healthy . I believe, especially certain people, like over fifty-five and people with depression are much better off eating healthy food and maintaining a healthy body fat. We both agree that dieting is too popular in this country and this attitude may lead people to be too restrictive with food that may be considered unhealthy. Not getting enough food can be as damaging as being on a strict crash diet were we may not get the nutrients we need.I think yoyo dieting may be considered worse for you than if you didn’t diet at all. Again, we didn’t quite agree on dieting. By no means does this show want to tell people whether to diet. That, I think, comes down to a person-to-person basis. The show offers more input to make a good decision in your life. But we all agree that this is a huge problem, and I am glad to get another perspective. Please enjoy.Listener Notes:Don’t forget to check out part 1 of the Real series highlighting the best of 5 years at OTR. Coming soon is the Premium package of OTR with all the scripts of the programs starting with the Real series. Also, you can make a request for up to 5 of the older shows. Nothing will change if you stay at the basic price. I am just trying to find money to spread the knowledge contained in the Podcast. I would also like more feedback about the show from any of the listeners, so it can become “our “ Podcast not just mine. All money will be reinvested into ads or for better quality. No matter how big we get there will never be a commercial break on the show. Thanks everyone for listening.Cristina's sites:Website: https://behindthebitepodcast.com/Podcast: Behind the BiteFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/drcastagnini/X: https://twitter.com/CristinaPhD Pinterest: https://ph.pinterest.com/drcastagnini/_created/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIZTeL59EIhGLITHsw8zvigInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/behind_the_bite_podcast/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/cristina-castagnini-phd-ceds/OTR...

Dominika Staniewicz is my guest today. She is an amazingly accomplished woman who gives back to society her gift of healing. Dominka originally received an MS in sociology and education and worked as a successful career coach in Europe. However, despite her professional success, she felt unfulfilled and out of place. When she lost her 16-month-old son and struggled with depression and low self-esteem, she became trapped in a negative mindset and believed that the world was against her due to her inability to cope with the trauma. She realized that it was not possible for everything and everyone around her to be wrong or bad. This realization marked the beginning of her transformation journey. She began learning about how the brain and emotion’s function, and eventually trained and qualified as an Elite Neuro Encoding specialist at the Neuroencoding Institute with Joseph McClendon III. She also graduated from Amen University with a rare certification as a Brain coach and Trainer. She became one of the few certified brain coaches in the world with a scientific and holistic coaching approach.Come join us as we talk about her approach to trauma. In this episode, Krystal Clark shares her story of her molestation at the age of seven from her cousin who was even younger. This abuse and the shame she felt triggered her Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) later in life.Krystal Clark is now doing well in her recovery. She is an Author, Blogger, Life Coach, Public Speaker, and Data Management Professional. Krystal has published several books including a Fantasy Fiction book called “Balance Of Power” which chronicles the mental toll trauma can take. Krystal also has a podcast called ‘Moving with Meaning-The Podcast’ in which she talks about many topics. This is an important episode about the effects of this type of trauma, especially at such a young age. It is my opinion that this type of abuse is rampant in the U.S. and around the world. In a lot of cases these acts cause great mental anguish throughout the victim’s life. I feel in most cases it goes unreported because of the shame victims feel. If we work together this world would be a much better place to live in. Since this month is Mental Health month, now is the time to fight for our and our children’s contentment and happiness. This world is what we make it. Suffering is a part of life, like losing. You have to grow from it. We do not need to add to it by hiding in shame and fearing judgement from others. Society gives you permission to drink or take harmful drugs that only cover up the pain for a short time. The damage mental health issues do to our society is everywhere. Meet Ryan Winter, a French Cajun author born and raised near the city of New Orleans. He tells his story of depression which seems to be a mixture of heredity and the misfortunes that occurred in his life, including Hurricane Katrina. He is an experienced Freelance Writer with a demonstrated history of working in the writing and editing industry. Ryan is skilled in Film Production, Linguistics, Creative Writing, and Short Films. He describes his childhood, which he felt was free of any signs of depression. I found it interesting that, like me, his mental health issues mostly started entering 7th grade in a harsher new school environment. Ryan talks about how bad situations and possibly a predisposition for depression affected him from that point on.French Cajun author of 3 books in vastly different genres: "New Orleans Mother Goose", a children's picture book released Sept. 2014 by Pelican Publishing Co... Meet Kristof Morrow, a 34-year-old Navy veteran, an award winning journalist/photographer author of literary work "The Second Sun," which already sold more than 13 hundred copies . “Second Sun,” went viral on TikTok in June and it is recommended reading in university classes studying literature. Life gave no freebies to Kristof. Growing up, his parents viciously abused him daily. In the Navy, at the age of 18, he showed symptoms of an affliction he would discover years later was a rare type of Tourette Syndrome (TS), a condition of the nervous system. TS causes people to have “tics”. Tics are sudden twitches, movements, or sounds that people make repeatedly. This is his story of courage as he struggles with the negative emotional and social affects that Tourette’s can have on anyone. Growing up, he was the third born but the first to graduate high school,He taught himself to write while serving in the US Navy as a Corpsman, right after high school. After the navy, Kristof became an EMT around the age of 23, then a 911 dispatcher at 26 before earning, by audition, a job at a newspaper. He was 27 years old and won awards from two Texas Press Associations for feature writing and photography.I think neurodivergent people can relate to Kristof’s struggles. Inside he is a very intelligent person, but on the outside people might see only his Tourette's. Somehow, he navigates life. This is his inspirational story.Kristof Morrow 's Sites:BOOK: The Second SunOfficial Webpage: https://www.kristofmorrow.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kristofmorrow/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@kristofmorrow OTR sites:Podcast Website: https://bobadleman.wixsite.com/otrmentalhealthMail:          OvertheRainbowbob@gmail.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/otrachievingmentalhealhfrInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/over_the_rainbow_achieving  Twitter:     https://twitter.com/overtherain1bownYouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChEYTddPDUaiZbFliit1r5QThis podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Podder - https://www.podderapp.com/privacy-policyChartable - https://chartable.com/privacyPodtrac - https://analytics.podtrac.com/privacy-policy-gdrp

In this episode we talk with Dr Mark Weisman about spirituality and how that relates to Mental Health conditions like PTSD and ADHD. Dr. Mark is Known as the "Alaska Ulfhednar". If you don’t know what that is he explains how he got the title. Mark has worked with hundreds of "friends" (he calls them) to help them find a path to recovery from many different mental health challenges. Primarily working with former members of the military both in the US and abroad to build futures through the darkness of PTSD, he uses the simplicity of his cultural heritage as a Norse Shaman to restore lives and give hope. Dr Weiman has advanced degrees in religion, psychology, and telecommunications,We touch on spirituality as it relates to Mental Health, religion, consciousness, and the Universe. I also talk about ADHD and why that may cause interpersonal issues and other problems in todays society.Even if you don’t buy into all this, our discussion is very interesting, and he impressed me with his kindness, intelligence, and spirituality. It makes for a very entertaining episode.I would also like to thank everyone who listens on a regular basis, and I still believe we can all achieve mental health as real as it gets. We are learning what we need to know to have a much happier life for real. We have some great shows coming up and I will continue to try to push the cause to eradicate the stigma of mental health and to push for accommodations for ADHD. I feel despite all my issues I am making progress, and I am just getting started. Stay tuned and let others know about the show. We can all heal together with hope for the future. Today I talk with Kathern Berg. She is an alternative health practitioner--A classical homeopath with over 20 years of experience. She specializes in working with people who are struggling with PTSD or CPTSD and, because it seems to appear along with PTSD, she also helps people with long held grief. She has a lot of stories to tell of clients who have recovered from PTSD using Classical Homeopathy.Kathryn studied at the Northwestern Academy of Homeopathy to learn how to solve health problems. She is the owner of Lotus Homeopathy, Inc. and a Certified Classical Homeopath. The thing that really drives Kathern is solving problems and being an advocate for those who need help getting their problems solved. She has been working as a homeopath since 2001. She also worked as a volunteer lobbyist at the Minnesota State Legislature for 10 years to help protect our health freedom laws which enables her to practice and you to use the services of all sorts of natural health practitioners. In addition to Homeopathy School, you can hardly keep her away from advanced learning. She specializes in working with clients with PTSD and C/PTSD, because she is really grateful to the men and women in the Armed Services in the US and first responders as well, who are willing to put their lives on the line to protect the rest of us. There are of course, many civilians who develop PTSD and C/PTSD from a traumatic experience or upbringing and I work with them as well. she firmly believe you can recover from PTSD, because I have seen it in my clients.Kathern s' sites:Official Webpage: https://www.lotushomeopathy.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lotus.homeopathyInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/lotushomeopathyLinkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kathryn-zochert-berg-3888851/ OTR sites:Podcast Website: https://bobadleman.wixsite.com/otrmentalhealthMail:           OvertheRainbowbob@gmail.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/otrachievingmentalhealhfrInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/over_the_rainbow_achieving  Twitter:      https://twitter.com/overtherain1bownYouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChEYTddPDUaiZbFliit1r5QThis podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Podder - https://www.podderapp.com/privacy-policyChartable - https://chartable.com/privacyPodtrac - https://analytics.podtrac.com/privacy-policy-gdrp
In this episode we talk with a special guest. Her name is Phyllis E. Leavitt, and she is a psychotherapist with over 30 years of working extensively with individual and family dysfunction and abuse. We talk about what’s in her new book called “America in Therapy: A New Approach to Hope and Healing For A Nation In Crisis”, in which she talks about the urgency to bring our whole country to therapy in a way never written about before. Which is critically important if we want to make this world a better place for real. Especially In the times we live in. If we have any hope, then it has to start at home. This subject is so important to me because it’s the message I want to bring out in this podcast, especially when so many people are suffering with their mental health or the loss of a loved one this holiday season. America and the world need to heel If we are to continue to be a civilized culture. The divisional and tribal stubbornness and network Propaganda and manipulation of the people has divided this country and families. We need to listen to each other, not hate. From Phyllis’ years of experience as a client herself, and well over 30 years experience as a psychotherapist she has a calling to share all she has learned with the public and demonstrate how the principles of the best psychotherapy can be used to help heal our country of escalating hatred, divisiveness and violence. She speaks to all of us who fear for our children and all future generations, who may feel hopeless or resigned or simply don't know what to do to help create a more loving and sustainable world. She brings a message of both urgency and hope, in language the layman can easily relate to and understand, through personal stories, client case studies, and professional expertise. Her basic premise is that we are on a collision course with our own extinction and she see this as a national and global mental health crisis that is not being addressed. She explores the direct correlation between the most destructive family dynamics on the individual level and many of the behaviors and actions of some of our most powerful institutions and leaders, and she highlight that millions of us are suffering the effects of national psychological dysfunction in ways we might not be aware of. She helps the listener understand that many answers of how to heal our human relations and restore us to peace and safety are already known and used effectively in the field of psychotherapy, and that there is HOPE if we can take everything we know about healing into national conversation. The best psychotherapy helps interrupt the cycle of violence— which is our best hope of prevention— and it involves a total reversal of many of the beliefs and dynamics that now run our country.Phyllis' sites:Official Webpage: https://phyllisleavitt.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/phyllis.leavittInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/phyllis_e_leavitt/Twitter: https://twitter.com/PhyllisLeavittLinkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/phyllis-leavitt-630179255/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOdxqvDK9N421AZ5TTxqUgQ OTR sites:Podcast...

Today I speak with Michelle Shekhinah author of the book “From the Floor to the Door”. This is the first in a series about domestic violence which is a big problem that goes silent when a person Is trapped and dependent in a relationship. In 1997, Michelle married who she thought was her fairytale, knight in shining armor. After having a successful business and 2 children, she was a stay-at-home Mom for many years in suburbia. In 2014, her life started to unravel. Things escalated quickly, and the next thing she knew, she was being sexually abused by her husband, which turned into her husband sex-trafficking her to his friends. Michelle spent many nights crying on the floor of her home, realizing that she was in a very dangerous situation. With fear running through her body, and hope in her heart, she ran for the door and got out. Listen to her story. Which is probably occurring throughout what appears on the outside as normal suburban lives. After a bold move to leave her home and her life and sill take care of her dependent children, she became an advocate and mentor for other women and teens that have experienced any form of trauma and abuse. You can contact her from her website if you are struggling in a similar situation.
