I was excited to read this novel thinking it'd be a romantic one, but I was very disappointed. I couldn't even come close to finishing this book. The stereotypes of all kinds: sexuality, presumed effects of divorce on a child (they might turn into psychos)- this was the absolute line for me, though the narrator stepped far past that line before this. It is supposed to encompass dark aspects of both the characters sexuality, but there is so much irresponsible actions in this book that it was very disturbing. This isn't even close to bring the safe or right way to experiment with bdsm and actually fits into being sadistic. I highly caution those with history of abuse or those who are sensitive to these kinds of things. There are many reviews on GoodRead about this book which I recommend reading first to give you a better idea of what you'd be getting into reading/listening to this.
