Description

Obsession: Bluey is a podcast about this stupid little Australian children's show called Bluey. It's probably one of the greatest TV shows of all time...not just in the children's genre either. And this host is obsessed. Absolutely obsessed.

Bluey: Season 1 Recap

Bluey: Season 1 Recap

We've finished season 1! Now were recapping everything that happened, testing my Bluey knowledge, and talking about the best moments in season 1.
It is Christmas Eve, and Bluey tries to sneak over and peak at a present. Her dad catches her and tells her that Santa doesn’t give presents to naughty children—setting up the whole episode. Bluey, Bingo, and Muffin, then run off apologizing to people all over the place for knocking into them because they want Santa to know they are good kids. They play a game with Bandit and end up having a great time. But when Socks comes in and bites Bluey, Bluey gets bitter and sets out to teach socks a lesson. Bluey learns the real reason you should be nice to someone…and it’s not because Santa is always watching. It’s a good lesson for parents to not threaten kindness out of your kids, but rather to show that they ought to treat others the way they’d want to be treated.
Chilli is off to a baby shower, but Bluey does not want her to go. As soon as she leaves, Bluey misses her, so Bandit comes up with some games to distract her, but distraction only goes so far. Bluey asks her dad to call mom and ask her to come back, but as he does it, Bandit describes how much mom was looking forward to this, and Bluey thinks of what her mom wants and asks her dad to hang up. She then mirrors her mom and has a baby shower with some of her toys and it makes her feel much better. This is also a really great episode for the dynamic between Bandit and Bingo. But Bluey learns about missing someone you love and how to cope.

Bingo and Bluey want a pet. So Bandit, thinking it’s a wise move, employs the service of his hand to act as an emu named Shaun to show his kids how difficult a pet can be. Bandit takes the girls all over the house and the town and seems to annoy them but also amuse them. And it ends up tiring Bandit out way more, and he crashes in the late afternoon and just sleeps all the way till morning. It also ends up backfiring as both of the girls now use their hands to peck at Bandit because Shaun had babies, and now the girls can annoy Bandit just like he annoyed them. The girls kinda bypass the idea of having a pet anymore and elect to have fun poking dad with Shaun’s babies.
Bluey is not showing manners at the dinner table, so her dad keeps ragging on the girls and Chilli until Chilli gets a little annoyed and gives Bluey a magic asparagus. The veggie turns people into any animal you want. So Bluey then makes a game of it and starts turning her family into different animals until she is exhausted and learns that dogs are not animals and they need to exhibit manners at the table, because sometimes manners can order life and make is less tiring.
Bluey: S1E48 - Teasing

Bluey and Bingo are getting ready for bed when Bluey starts to tease Bingo a little bit. Bingo complains and the parents get involved telling them they they should not tease one another. Then the girls launch a campaign against their dad for all the things he does to tease them. After their list comes to a close, Bandit shows them how they are only telling half of the story, and we don’t hear what the difference is between teasing and play, but we know that it involves two people having fun, and we know the girls got a better grasp at what teasing is through this episode.
Bluey is playing a game of house in the playroom when Bingo comes in. She asks if anyone’s seen the couch cushions, but then joins Bluey building with the couch cushions Bluey has. Chilli enters, asking if anyone’s seen the couch cushions, then joins in the play with the girls. Then Bandit comes in, asking if anyone’s seen the couch cushions, and then joins in at the end of the playroom, to the incredible annoyance of Chilli. Bluey and Chilli learn how to live next to annoying neighbors in Bingo and Bandit, and the whole family learns the valuable lesson of what it takes to be a good neighbor, which is one of life’s greatest questions.
It’s bedtime, but Bingo cannot find her beloved floppy. And we all know how kids can get if they don’t have their favorite stuffy to sleep with during bedtime. So Chilli, Bluey, and Bingo retrace their steps story at a time. The story is strange at first, but as they keep retracing their steps, we get more of what happened during this weird and crazy day that the Heelers had together. Bingo learns that she has a bad memory, but if someone says just the right word, it will unleash her memory to be able to remember where she hid floppy.

Bluey: S1E45 - Kids

Bandit brings Bingo and Bluey to the supermarket to get some shopping done. But in the car ride there the two kids have a debate about who is the favorite child—note it’s always the oldest. When Bandit tells them that parents can’t have a favorite, Bluey goes full takeover and plays a game where she is the mom and Bingo and her dad are her two kids. Bingo is clearly her favorite and she ends up saying that out loud and really hurting Bandit’s feelings (in the game). So Bluey learns a lesson about favoritism and treating people equally.
The family comes back from Crazy World, a theme park close by. The parents are exhausted after a long day with the kids, but the kids are still awake and ready to go. The ask to play one more game before bed and Bandit gives a condition that is has to be a game where he doesn’t have to move or speak with his mouth. So as mom and dad collapse on the couch, the girls decide to play Mount Mumandad—a game where they climb on their parents to reach the top (aka, Bandits nose). The girls learn that swiftness is not always as valuable as steadiness as the girls try to get to the top together.

Bluey: S1E43 - Camping

The Heeler family is on a camping trip. And Bluey, playing down by the river, meets a puppy who speaks French and doesn’t know a lick of english. This doesn’t stop Bluey from becoming friends with this dog and spending a lot of time with him over the next three days. Only, Jean Luc has to leave without Bluey getting a chance to say goodbye. Bluey learns that there are people that are in our lives for a little bit and then leave, but it doesn’t mean we can’t remember the good times we had with those people. And as she goes back to that camping spot many years later, Jean Luc finds her as the episode ends and EVERYONE is in tears.
Bluey has ADHD. And she cannot focus long enough on a task to be able to play a game with her family. The game they want to play is hide and seek, but Bluey loses her focus and ends up getting sidetracked by another toy. It’s only when she’s able to calm her mind and remember what she was doing a few minutes ago, that she goes off to find her family who are hidden all over the house. The family has a fun moment of games, but Bluey learns a lesson that focus can sometimes show another person that you care for them.
