In this Off Menu Podcast episode we talk to Anthony Body of The Bail Project. He is a Bail Disruptor from Cleveland, Ohio and helps in securing bail for individuals in pre-trial detention who cannot afford it. The conversation was really inspiring and thought provoking as Mr. Body pointed out the many frailties of our criminal justice system. Some of the topics include how the cash bail system feeds on the poor as well as how Mr. Body was able to maneuver through the justice system himself. Hope you all learn something! NOTE: We know that this podcast has morphed into a NBA podcast but we're not talking about hoops this week. This week was about The Bail Project and learning about the issues within the cash bail system in America. Sometimes hoop talk can wait. www.bailproject.org

NBA IS BACK!! NBA season is tipping back off July 30th and as the season resumes, the podcast is coming back to continue the hoop convo. The NBA Bubble will no doubt be an interesting hoops session as the race to the finish will take place over the next two months of a battle to be crown champs. We can’t wait to dive in and watch every game and to talk hoops with guest. Episode Release: Every Thursday NOTE: Even as the NBA season comes back and our excitement for the league takes off we will not lose focus on what truly matters. Off Menu is a podcast that wants to always amplify black voices. We have and will continue to have genuine conversations about what is happening in the world and what we want to see changed. This podcast will continue to speak openly about the systematic oppression of black people and the our continuous fight for equality. Our goal is to continue to help push, elevate, and encourage black voices which have historically rarely been listened to or fully understood. As a brand started by two Black kids, we want to use this platform to promote organizations who are doing real work in the fight for change and equal opportunity in our country. Our first organization that we are going to support and promote is the Bail Project: “The Bail Project, Inc. is a non-profit organization designed to combat mass incarceration by disrupting the money bail system ‒ one person at a time. We believe that paying bail for someone in need is an act of resistance against a system that criminalizes race and poverty and an act of solidarity with local communities and movements for decarceration. Over the next five years, The Bail Project will open dozens of sites in high-need jurisdictions with the goal of paying bail for tens of thousands of low-income Americans, all while collecting stories and data that prove money bail is not necessary to ensure people return to court. We won’t stop until meaningful change is achieved, and the presumption of innocence is no longer for sale.” Rest in Power to all of our black sisters and brothers who have died in the struggle for freedom. Also, arrest the murderers who took the life of our sister Breonna Taylor.
