Description
I was a shy, soft-spoken ESL student afraid of answering questions in class, expressing my opinions, and sharing my ideas. Fifteen years later, I’ve become a professor of Communication Studies and a National Award-Winning Speaker. I've won 73+ awards, authored 2 self-help books and 4 university textbooks, and pushed my students to communicate with confidence -- not just on stage.

Everything we do says something about us.
When we decide on what shoes to wear with our outfit, how we style our hair, or what we post on social media, our actions and even non-actions often speak for us.
Now, everyone in our life knows us a little bit differently.
Just because you tell your best friend that your favorite rapper, doesn’t mean you’ll share the same information with your mom.
Whether we are speaking at a wedding, or just finding the right comforting words to tell our friend, we think about what are the best things to say.
How you speak to your mom and how you speak to your best friend are not the same. Much like the details, we share about our most recent romantic date would probably differ when speaking with your best friend and the stranger you just met on the bus. We expose and share different parts of ourselves with different people.
For centuries, scholars, politicians -- influential figures -- have delivered passionate speeches that changed the way we live. They have moved the masses to take action. Before stepping into the spotlight and speaking on stage, individuals first share their ideas in front of their friends, families, and community. Through refining their public speaking prowess, extensive research, and strategically selecting a specific language, movements are able to challenge the status quo and create a new reality.
