Welcome to episode 21 of Ohio 88 where I, your host, Heather Wright, will discuss one of the most notorious individuals from Logan County, Ohio. For this episode, we will be discussing Scott Moody. It was a Sunday morning, May 29, 2005 when 18-year-old Scott Moody is said to have “lost it” and shot 6 people; killing 5, gravely injuring another, and then killing himself. According to the Columbus Dispatch, investigators never disclosed a motive for the massacre, although rumors had swirled in the small rural town of Bellfefontaine, Ohio. One of which involved him not wanting to have the responsibility of the family farm now that he was graduating high school. But is that what happened? Is Scott the real shooter? What motive could he have had? From 2005 until about 2018; that was the story. That is exactly what everyone thought happened on that Spring day. But information that has been released since has coincided with details that the lone survivor of that attack, Scott’s 15-year-old sister, mentioned immediately after the shooting…from her hospital bed. Please keep your mind open whilst listening to this episode. It will be a tad different than previous episodes on the show and perhaps will offer you new insight into this case as well as a different perspective. Perhaps Scott Moody isn’t the most notorious individual from Logan County, Ohio. But this story is just as, if not more important, than other subjects on the show - especially if he is in fact innocent of this atrocity, yet most believe he is the one who committed such a heinous act to his own family and close friend. Welcome to episode 20 of Ohio 88 where I, your host, Heather Wright, will discuss one of the most notorious individuals from Defiance County, Ohio. For this episode, we will be discussing Judith Hawkey. Oakwood, Ohio resident Judith Hawkey was convicted of aggravated murder, insurance fraud, and four counts of endangering children, in her 2013 trial; where the judge sentenced her to life in prison without parole. But Ohio's Third District Court of Appeals ruled in 2016 that she should receive a new trial because her conviction had been largely based on the young boy's testimony. That young boy was the son of the man who was murdered in cold blood in 2003. That young boy was 10 at the time, and also the individual who pulled the trigger. _________________________________________________________________________________Support the show by joining Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/ohio88Check out our new website - www.ohio88podcast.com Our music was created by Nico of We Talk of Dreams *All sources for this episode will be on the website soon.

As a quick summary; in Episode 12 of Ohio 88, we discussed the most notorious individual from Clark County, Ohio. Juan Kinley murdered his 31-year-old girlfriend and her 12-year-old son with a machete on Jan. 10, 1989. Kinley remains on Ohio's death row following his 1991 conviction.Since being convicted and sentenced, Juan has been fighting to get off of death row. His latest writ of Habeas Corpus was denied in December of 2020. And at the time of the original recording - June 01, 2021...Juan Kinley was on a list of Pending Cases for the Southern District of Ohio. His case is in a state of abeyance...or temporarily on hold until matters are resolved. So, Juan Kinley is still sitting on death row and being housed at Chillicothe Correctional Institution. He has one more chance to plead his case to the parole board. But what about the victim’s family? How do they feel about this?In this special episode of Ohio 88, I sit down with Thelma’s niece and David’s cousin; Gracie. She describes exactly what this journey has been like for her entire family…but especially her father; Thelma’s brother. In speaking with Gracie, she told me how Thelma and David were, as people…not just as victims. She let me in on the emotions that she and her family have had to deal with over the last 30 years. And finally, she let me know what Thelma would have wanted others to know about her case and her decisions. Thelma would have wanted others to be more careful and to seek help if/when they are in an abusive relationship. The organization that she was scheduled to meet with on the day of her tragic and gruesome murder, is called https://projectwomanohio.org/. Welcome to episode 16 of Ohio 88 where we will be discussing one of the most notorious individuals from Seneca County, Ohio. For this episode, we will be discussing John Dillinger. As a quick summary; John Herbert Dillinger was born on June 22, 1903 and died on July 22, 1934. He was an American gangster of the Great Depression and led a group known as the “Dillinger Gang”.Known as public enemy number 1; Dillinger was accused of robbing 24 banks and 4 police stations. He was imprisoned a number of times and escaped on two different occasions. Although he had this reputation of being such an outlaw, he wasn’t a cold-blooded killer; as most would suspect. In fact, he was only charged with one homicide but was not convicted. This homicide, however, was that of a police officer in East Chicago, Indiana; during a shootout. When I came to this notorious individual on the list; I immediately thought of the ONE person whom I thought would do justice on this episode; Justin Rimmel. So, I enlisted his help and this is Part 3 of 3 of Ohio 88’s coverage of Mr. John Dillinger.____________________________________________________________________________________Thank you for your wealth of knowledge on Dillinger, Justin! This is a SNEAK PEEK of our full-length Patreon BONUS episode regarding missing person Patti Adkins.June 29, 2021 marked 20 years since Patti Adkins clocked out from her second-shift job at the Honda plant in Marysville and vanished. Adkins was a single mother who had been working at the Honda Plant for 10 years. She worked her way up the chain and became a supervisor on the assembly line. She was a hard worker and her family thought she needed some time for herself. So, when she decided to use "shutdown" week as a time to go on a vacation with her boyfriend, they were excited for her. She had left her young daughter with her ex (whom she had shared parenting with) but her ex was to take her daughter to her aunt (Adkins' sister) toward the end of the week. That is where Patti was to pick her up from on July 8. But that didn't happen. When Adkins failed to pick her daughter up on July 8 as planned, a missing persons report was filed.Patricia Adkins has not been seen since June 29, 2001.Detectives have chased leads for two decades and had once pinned hopes that new technology would yield results from a speck of blood that was recovered from a tonneau cover. But that never materialized.A Union County judge declared Adkins dead in 2006. However, her family and friends still need answers.Visit our new website: https://www.ohio88podcast.com/ Special thanks to Staci, for her help with this episode!Special thanks to Nico of We Talk of Dreams for the music: https://wetalkofdreams.com/
