Her work is broadly focused on the ways that gender matters in understanding war and insecurity and the ways that experiences of war and insecurity are shaped by gendered norms and sexism.

Jessica is a Full Professor at the Graduate School of International Studies at Université Laval, her research is on visual culture and politics. Her current research program is on the visual representation of atrocity and corpses and human rights in international studies.
