Well, well, well…Black women have been called “ghetto” as long as I can remember. The reason this time? For openly celebrating a NCAA Championship victory and talking a little trash—ON THE COURT! Angel Reese is certainly owed an apology, but from whom? Keep rocking ya crown, Angel!
The United States just suffered its 130th mass shooting and its 19th school shooting since the beginning of this year. Inaction will never prevent gun violence, but it seems like the NRA has Congress in a stranglehold when it comes to protecting Americans from the newest number one cause of death for youth: gun violence.
Now Ron DeSantis and his STOP WOKE Act is targeting shero, Ruby Bridges?! Come on, bro.
The SLEEPYS featuring Bethany Mandel needed a little help defining wokeness, so I've reclaimed it and took the time to break it down! Turns out, WAKING UP is not a half bad idea.
From Derrick Chauvin's tax evasion charges, Trump back on YouTube, and Congress trying to regulate banks after Silicon Valley Bank's meltdown.
It's definitely news you better use!
Be sure to stay tuned for more weekly updates
This week, I sat down with an amazing educator & youth advocate, Mr. Donovan Taylor Hall. Mr. Donovan, as he is commonly referred to by his students, taught social skills classes at Impact Academy in Oakland, CA that teaches kids how to become active facilitators of their growth. In this episode, we talk about the foundation of Mr. Donovan’s philosophy, which is designed to raise levels of self-esteem and self-worth, creating spaces for youth to find their personal power, and practicing gratitude. I hope you have as much fun hearing from the Modern Day Mr. Rogers, as I had speaking to him!
