Joe Schoen and the Giants have begun the deadline deals, sending Leonard Williams to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for a 2nd and 5th round pick --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/onegiantpodcast/message
Big Blue Victory! Tyrod Taylor played a clean game, and allowed the Giants Defense to put together another impressive performance. Sam Howell was under siege for much of the game, with Dexter Lawrence, Leonard Williams and Kayvon Thibodeux meeting at the QB frequently. To go along with Bobby Okereke and Micah McFadden's strong contributions, the guys have to acknowldege Wink Martindale finally has his unit meeting expectations. It was by no means a perfect game, and yet with several pass connections over 20 yards, and improved O'Line play, it at least opens the door for a discussion on what could still be an entertaining season for Big Blue. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/onegiantpodcast/message
The Giants played as if they never knew the season started on September 10th. Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys had their way with the Offensive Line, moved the ball with ease, and showed their clear superiority over Big Blue. Evan Neal was supposed to take a step forward this season, and that does not look tthe case. Mark Glowinski is supposed to be a consistent veteran, but appears to be anything but. thE Offensive line play will get all the spoltlight but Adam also notes the clean and effortless pocket from which Dak Prescott operated all game long and why there is cause for concern in all three phases. The guys rundown the opening week depth chart with a few fun surprises, including a lack of defined Slot Receiver. Ben Bredeson, for all the bouncing around, claimed the starting RG spot and Adam and Andy look at what that could mean long term this year with Ezuedu, Lemieux and Peart locking into depth roles across the line. Eric Gray certainly impressed in camp but his primary role will start on Special Teams as Gary Brightwell remains ahead of the rookie in the RB room. Adam as always is excited to see young talent in expanding roles, making Gervarious Owens and Dane Belton in primary backup Safety spots an exciting prospect for the Sunday Night tilt with Dallas. The guys close out with. anote on Daniel Jones and thee Dallas Cowboys matchup. I t has not been a favorable one for the franchise QB, or the team overe the past few years. While a season is never one or lost on opening night, with record predictions in hand - it certainly feels like this as big a game Big Blue could have to kick off a heavily hyped season! Adam welcomes in Coach Edd Gladney to help breakdown the skillset and development of two key Big Blue linemen. It is an excellent deep dive into how these fit the mold for Big Blue and hopefully fit the answer to the question: How does New York beat Dallas? Evan Neal enters year two with plenty to prove, and will be put right into the fire, matching up with DeMarcus Lawrence and the Dallas Cowboys in week one. Coach Edd highlights the areas where Neal struggled in his rookie season, and how the improved weight and technique this offseason should put him on the path to a strong sophomore campaign. John Michael Schmitz Jr. may be just a rookie, but coming out as a "plug and play" prospect has Adam setting the immediate high bar. They discuss not only JMS ability to anchor the center position but also situational football that could dictate how and when the rookie is asked to pull and become a lead blocker in the running game. Andrew Thomas is not going anywhere! Adam and Andy discuss the newly minted man as Joe Schoen and the Giants commit $117m over the next five years with $67m guaranteed. The follow up with a lengthier discussion on Saquon Barkley and the re-worked tag that allows him to make more money on incentives, and most importantly for Big Blue, get into to camp immediately this summer. Lastly as camp gets underway, the PUP list offers some interesting potential position battles as the summer kicks off. Mike Clay from ESPN paints a somewhat bleak picture for the New York Giants positional grades. Be it injury concerns or a thin depth chart, the guys debate where Big Blue is stronger than league perception. Adam highlights how quickly the Giants can climb after the draft because of the immediate top end talent and depth building Joe Schoen can acheive. The guys discuss what progress has been made so far for the New York Giants, including Andy reminding fans of three key starting members from a year ago that are all currently on the open market. Adam once again brings up veteran Conor McGovern for the Center position, should the Giants continue to shop - knowing that the Draft will provide the finishing touches to the roster. The guys also debate the 25th pick, what positional value will be there and in Andy's case, why Zay Flowers is a number one talent. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/onegiantpodcast/message
Adam gets hyped on the new additions into the wide receiver group in Free Agency. While none of the names are number one on the depth chart it is easy to squint and see how this roster is new deeper with experienced NFL talent. Parris Campbell has upside off his first healthy season as a pro while Jamison Crowder's Special Teams value should not outshine the eight years of productive play he has on his resume. Adam discusses exception among the group, how their are injury safeguards in place, and why the talent will rise to thee top of the depth chart and give Daniel Jones reliable threats week over week. Adam Armbrecht jumps in as news breaks on the impending trade between the Giants and Raiders. Darren Waller is being acquired in exchange for a third round pick(100) in the upcoming draft. Waller represents a field stretching receiving TE that can impact Sundays with the ball in his hand and as a threat defenses will need to stay home on. Adam Armbrecht discusses the first day of legal tampering around NFL Free Agency and what LB Bobby Okereke brings to the table for Wink Martindale and the Giants defense. This was not a player eon most fans radar, but certainly helps stabilize a very weak area up the middle for Big Blue. The Giants also continued their "in-house" work, retaining the seldom used Matt Breida. The guys discuss the feel good return for Sterling Shepard, even if it could be short lived. Andy keeps his Odell Beckham Jr, flame burning as they discuss the WR free agents. Mike Giseck has often been a name to watch for the Giants at TE but Andy offers Irv Smith as the better target and fit for what Joe Schoen wants out of the position. They also have some fun on the Jamie Gillian signing as NFL Free Agency is set to kick off. HEAR THE PODCAST:  https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast... Daniel Jones will be the New York Giants QB going forward, that topic can be put to rest. Now, as Joe Schoen mete with the media, what were the key takeaways, where does the team stand with Saquon Barkley and how will this organization approach free agency? --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/onegiantpodcast/message
The NFL combine will bring the college prospects front and center as all 32 teams seek to improve their roster with young talent through the NFL Draft. Joe Schoen met with the media and seem to provide a somewhat cryptic update on the Daniel Jones contract. We have know heard the the QB will be Giant, is wanted as a Giant and that the team and representatives are still far apart on money. The bottom line is taking these negotiations to the final hour is only limited the GM from giving is undivided attention to the upcoming Free Agents and the Draft class. Jalen Ramsey and the Rams are seeking to part ways, could the Giants be in the mix? At first blush the $25m total cap hit is steep, but with an out following the upcoming season if the trade price is right he would be a game changer for Wink Martindale's defense. Lastly, B Ojulari has expressed a desire to reunite with big brother Azeez in New York. The guys discuss the fit, if the Giants are in a position to draft him and how the they each see the NFL board shaping up for the Giants from a need and value standpoint. Adam and Andy break down the first big off-season move for the Giants. Yes Joe Schoen has provided more cap relief to work with this offseason, but how it gets spent will be in large part determined by the negotiations with Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley. The guys discuss if Kenny Golladay will catch on elsewhere in the NFL, and how additional cap space could or should be spent. Will there be a big slash made or is this the continued process of rebuilding the roster and preparing for the Dexter Lawrence and Andrew Thomas extensions. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/onegiantpodcast/message
Adam Armbrecht and Andy Mackiewicz discuss the latest development in the Daniel Jones contract timeline. Does a new agent mean, anything at all? More importantly, are Giants fans excited for Daniel Jones to return, or excited for a “low-cost” contract. The guys discuss the chances this turns a corner away from Big Blue, and what the alternatives would look like. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/onegiantpodcast/message
Adam discusses the early off-season move form Joe Schoen which can start to lay the blueprint for moving this roster forward. With plenty of buzz around the coordinators - Wink Martindale came close, but ultimately did not become the Head Coach for the Indianapolis Colts. Adam discusses the continuity piece for this roster for second year players, free agents and draft picks. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/onegiantpodcast/message
Adam discusses the $44 million dollars in ca space that Joe Schoen will have to work with this off-season to improve the Giants roster. In just two quick potential moves, the contracts of Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley will eat up nearly all of that space. There are glaring decisions on the roster from Leonard Williams $32m dollar cap hit, and the Dave Gettleman hold-over mistake Kenny Golladay who occupies a 2023 salary of $21m Adjusting, releasing or trading these two players would give the Giants significant financial wiggle room. That matters, because as Adam highlights there are a minimum of four starting roles on both offense and defense that must be upgraded to put Big Blue in a position to complete next season. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/onegiantpodcast/message
The guys discuss the potential loss of coordinators Mike Kafka and Wink Martindale as they both interview for Head Coaching vacancies. Is it possible John Mara will green light a pay raise to keep them in New York?  Joe Schoen will also have several decisions to make this off-season key among them will be Saquon Barkley and how to retain his services without breaking the back. Adam and Andy highlight the different options from long term contract down to the transition tag, which would offer the lowest cap-hit with a small risk of losing the star running back to another team - which would in turn reward the Giants with two first round picks! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/onegiantpodcast/message
Adam and Andy talk the Divisional Round loss and the key contract conversations around the Giants. The most important quotes came from Daniel Jones, who said all the right things regarding wanting to be a Giant and the success this team can build on. There was a clear sentiment in his comments that suggests he(and is agent) know the market is thin for QB needy teams and this will not necessarily be a "hometwon discount" scenario. How could a rising price-tag impact Joe Schoen's approach? Saquon Barkley said all the right things in wanting to return while knowing he has reset his value after injury filled seasons. Leonard Williams seemingly wants to stay attached to Dexter Lawrence, who's emergence as one of the top DT in the NFL will only serve to benefit Williams performance, but the $32m cap hit will need to be adjusted if Joe Schoen is looking to keep the veteran lineman in New York. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/onegiantpodcast/message
