In the late 15th century, Portuguese explorers noted the flourishing rice cultivation in West Africa, a skill deeply rooted in local communities. Tragically, the transatlantic slave trade brought these expert rice cultivators to the Americas, where their knowledge transformed agriculture. Their expertise cultivated what became known as Carolina Gold.
