Sometimes, being in the wrong place at the wrong time can have deadly consequences. Sometimes, it's not just the place that's the problem; it's the who that you're with. In the two cases we discuss in this episode, neither of these men intended to kill their victims. They did not set out that morning to take the life of another human being. Nor did they gain anything from the demise of their victims. But they were responsible for their deaths all the same. The first case is in London, England, where twenty-four-year-old Charlotte "Charli" Brown from Essex had been looking for love on Tinder for some time but had had no luck. She wasn't interested in having a good time; she was looking for a long-term relationship. Before long, she began talking to a thirty-year-old web designer named Jack Shepherd. On December 8th, 2015, a Tuesday night, Jack took Charlotte to a restaurant on the 32nd floor and wined and dined her. Everything was going well until Charlotte was killed in an accident involving Jack Shepherd's speedboat. The second case is a request from Jenn K on behalf of her mother. Thirty-one years ago, on August 30th, 1993, the body of a 33-year-old Nancy Lynn Manni was found floating in the Chesapeake Bay just 250 yards from the Cove Point Lighthouse in Cove Point, Maryland. Nancy had lacerations on the back of her legs and buttocks, which were most likely made from a propeller. The coroner felt that Nancy had been alive and trying to swim away when she was run over by a boat. It would take years and being featured on Unsolved Mysteries to discover who was responsible for Nancy's death.Join Cam and Jen as we discuss 'The Speedboat Killers: The Deaths of Charlotte Brown & Nancy Manni.'Seeker's Notes sponsored this week's episode.Whenever you need a break from your day, you need to try Seeker's notes. Katie Eastburn had posted a classified advertisement in a local newspaper catering to the military community near Pope Air Force Base and Fort Bragg to sell their English setter, Dixie. At the time, Katie's husband Gary, an Air Force captain, was away attending a squadron officer's school in Alabama, leaving her at home with their three young children. The couple had met twelve years prior at a singles' softball game, and Gary vividly remembers her powerful impact on him, saying, "It was like somebody hit me between the eyes with a ball-peen hammer. I was madly in love with her." They tied the knot in 1975, and Katie became pregnant three years later. In 1983, the Air Force relocated Gary and his family to Pope Air Force Base, where he served as air traffic control chief. When Gary proposed the idea of moving to England, Katie had some reservations; however, her passion for horses played a significant role in her decision, and after Gary assured her that she and their daughters would have ample opportunities to ride in the English countryside, she agreed to the move. Gary typically made Saturday morning calls to check in with Katie while he was away, but when he tried to reach her on Saturday, May 11, she didn't pick up, and he wasn't overly concerned yet. He tried repeatedly that day to reach Katie, but the calls went unanswered. When a neighbor noticed the newspapers were piling up, he looked in a window and made a gruesome discovery. Home of Sun Studios and Graceland, it’s often referred to as the birthplace of rock-n-roll. So, it might surprise some people to find a little hotspot, an inconspicuous-looking (in kun spic yoo us) building, where the Latin beats pulse through the crowd of dancers. They go there for the salsa dancing with its fast, syncopated celebration of life. Dancers are bathed in pink and purple lights and sweat the night away.It was there, in that little rumba room, where Heather Palumbo-Jones would spend one of her last happy nights on earth, wearing a brand-new dress and a big beaming smile. She danced for three hours with one of her best friends, something she might not have even been able to do just a year or two earlier. It would turn out to not just be one of Heather's last happy nights on earth; it was one of her last nights on earth, period.Join Cam and Jen as they discuss 'Death of a Butterfly: Heather Palumbo-Jones.'If you are suffering from domestic violence and need help, please call the hotline at 1-800-799-7233.Thank you to our team:Written and researched by Lauretta AllenListener Discretion by Edward October from OctoberpodVHSExecutive Producer Nico Vitesse of The Inky Paw PrintSources:https://law.justia.com/cases/tennessee/court-of-criminal-appeals/2017/w2015-01028-cca-r3-cd.htmlhttps://wreg.com/news/mother-of-murder-victim-hoping-to-start-movement/https://www.peacocktv.com/watch/playback/vod/GMO_00000000372680_01/24947c74-4386-359b-9fb8-995607ff5c62?paused=true https://www.newspapers.com/image/777114190/?terms=Palumbo&match=1 https://www.newspapers.com/image/777110979/?terms=Palumbo&match=1https://www.newspapers.com/image/777123966/?terms=Palumbo&match=1https://www.newspapers.com/image/777133521/?terms=Palumbo&match=1 (Obituary)https://www.newspapers.com/image/777111347/?terms=Palumbo&match=1https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/231540199/heather-leigh-palumbo-joneshttps://wickedwe.com/heather-palumbo-jones-murder/https://www.southernfriedtruecrime.com/37-heather-palumbo-joneshttps://www.imdb.com/title/tt6057688/ Season 23 episode 33
It is 4 pm on Thursday, November 11, 2010, in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, when a phone call comes from police. On the line is Valerie Haythorn, manager of the nearby Dairy Queen, who is concerned that her employee 32 year- 32-year-old Tina Herrmann, has not shown up to work today or the previous day. This was very unlike Tina’s character, who has always been dependable. Valerie tells the police she is so worried she goes to Tina’s house to check on her. She is there as she is phoning the police. She informs police that she went inside the house via a rear window. Tina lives in the home with her two children, 13-year-old Sarah and 11-year-old Kody, and her live-in boyfriend. She informs officers that there is blood everywhere. The officer tells her to stay outside, and they are on their way. Once officers are on the scene, they encounter a blood bath. The problem is that although blood was everywhere, there were no bodies. It was as if the family had disappeared. ***This episode talks about the school shooting at West Nickels Mines Amish School. If you are sensitive to this subject, you may want to skip this one. ***Jen had points where her voice cracked and tightened as this topic is very difficult for her, so please bear with her.On October 2, 2006, the sun peeked over the horizon at 7:05 a.m. in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, bathing the green, undulating hills in a warm glow. It should have been a perfect day filled with friendship and laughter. Instead, this day would be remembered for the heartbreak and chaos that the community endured. It would also be remembered as when a small group displayed incredible compassion and benevolence. In fact, the day showed the entire range of human behavior, from the utterly vile to the impossibly divine. That morning, children filed into the one-room schoolhouse, excited for the day to begin. Boys and girls, ages 6 to 13, took their seats. Their teacher, twenty-year-old Emma Mae Zook, was also excited to begin her day. Her family was thrilled that she decided to become a teacher, and that day, some of them, her mother, two adult sisters, and a friend had accompanied her to school. They wanted to watch Emma Mae do her job. This was not unusual for this community. The sign above the chalkboard read: Welcome Visitors. Just one mile away from the West Nickel Mines School, 32-year-old Charles Roberts IV, known as Charlie to his friends, was having a very different morning. Charles put his two older children on the school bus. A neighbor heard Charles call his children back from the bus at the last minute for “one last hug.” The hugs lasted longer than usual, and he said to them, “Remember, Daddy loves you.” He then loaded up his truck with carefully curated supplies and drove to the small one-room schoolhouse so he could "take revenge on God."Join Cam and Jen as they discuss 'The Happening: West Nickel Mines Massacre'Thank you to our team:Written and researched by Lauretta AllenListener Discretion by Edward October from OctoberpodVHSExecutive Producer Nico Vitesse of The Inky Paw PrintSources:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_West_Nickel_Mines_School_shootinghttps://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=3678190https://www.newspapers.com/image/199843560/?terms=West%20Nickel%20Amish&match=1https://www.newspapers.com/image/199844055/?terms=West%20Nickel%20Amishhttps://www.newspapers.com/image/199844055/?terms=West%20Nickel%20 Amishhttps://www.newspapers.com/image/554591829/terms=West%20Nickel%20Amish&match=1https://www.newspapers.com/image/554591932/terms=West%20Nickel%20Amish&match=1https://www.newspapers.com/image/199844100/terms=West%20Nickel%20Amish&match=1https://www.newspapers.com/image/517171006/terms=West%20Nickel%20Amish&match=1 https://www.newspapers.com/image/199849766/terms=West%20Nickel%20Amish&match=1https://lancasteronline.com/news/the-riddle-of-charles-carl-roberts-iv-west-nickel-mines-school-shooter/article_f10eb0f5-f72a-5cf5976c994e973400d5.htmlhttps://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/oct/02/amish-shooting-10-yearanniversary-pennsylvania-the-happeninghttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_Platte_Canyon_High_School_hostage_crisishttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=661vq-3yqXY&ab_channel=TrueCrimeDaily
We are headed to Bemidji, Minnesota, where firefighters are at the scene of a mobile home fire where 35-year-old single mother Melissa Norby lived. As they worked to put out the fire, they noticed that windows had been blown away from the building by as much as 12 to 15 feet. They determined that the start of the fire seemed to be the primary bedroom. Once inside the home, in the bedroom they locate a gas can that had not burnt up in the fire. What else they find is much more disturbing. They find a body, but the body is underneath a mattress, and both the body and the mattress are severely burned. Furthermore, both were located in the middle of the home, not the bedroom. When firefighters noticed that the body had their hands taped and bound, they contacted the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Authorities rule it an arson, but it is clear that there is a homicide as well, but this is just the beginning of this twisted crime.Join Jen and Cam of Our True Crime Podcast as we discuss “Soul-Less: The Crimes of Jacob Kinn.”Promo is by British MurdersListener Discretion is by @octoberpodVHSMusic by our EP @theinkypawprintSources: https://wireofhope.com/prison-penpal-jacob-kinn/https://lptv.org/tag/jacob-kinn/https://www.kare11.com/article/news/jacob-kinn-sentenced-to-52-years-for-murder-kidnapping/89-452234228https://www.twincities.com/2017/06/26/bemidji-man-sentenced-for-raping-5-year-old-girl-strangling-her-caretaker/https://www.imdb.com/title/tt26761622/https://www.11alive.com/article/news/race-against-time-the-search-for-a-missing-5-year-old/85-516024729https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/news/jacob-kinn-murder-rape-sentence/https://www.crimeandinvestigation.co.uk/videos/jacob-kinn-monster-who-asked-unthinkable-interrogation-rawhttps://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/news/search-warrants-bemidji-girls-kidnapping/https://www.bemidjipioneer.com/news/waiting-for-answers-family-of-slain-bemidji-woman-wonders-why-no-arrests-charges-in-her-deathhttps://www.valleynewslive.com/content/news/Doctor-finds-Bemidji-kidnap-suspect-competent-to-stand-trial-410952165.htmlhttps://www.kare11.com/article/news/warrant-babysitter-plotted-bemidji-kidnapping/89-312072440https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuDKw1_a5zk
This is a listener request from Kari Schaan on our FB discussion page. Thank you Kari!On a cold January night in 1985, just outside Wichita Falls, Texas, a bloodied and naked Toni Jean Gibbs tumbled from an abandoned trolley car where she had just been brutally raped and stabbed. Her attacker, knowing his job was done and that her death was inevitable, had already fled the scene, driving away in Toni’s brand-new Camaro. Stumbling through the dark across the thick and scratchy grass of a north Texas grazing field, Toni, in a state of shock, ran for help. When she could run no further, she stumbled to the ground and pulled herself along on her belly. But there was nobody around to help. There was nothing around for miles. Maybe Toni just wanted to ensure that her body would be found. She wouldn’t be stuck in that rusty heap of metal, rotting away for years, while her family wondered what had happened to her. Finally, when she could crawl no more, 23-year-old Toni Jean rolled over onto her back, looked up at the endless starry sky twinkling above her, and took her last breath. It would be almost a month before her remains were found, and the Wichita Falls police would eventually tie the murder of Toni Gibbs to several other murders in the area, and early DNA science would squash any doubt that it was the technology of the future. SURPRISE!We have one last episode for 2023!Thank you to Tina for requesting this episode. She's been a listener since pretty much the beginning of OTCP.On the evening of September 11th, 2017, a fisherman spotted an unusual object floating along the surface of Lake Ontario near Oshawa Pier. After several attempts to bring the object closer with his fishing line, he realized he had made a grim discovery - the dismembered torso of a woman. There were no signs of identification, such as age indicators, scars, or tattoos, so Durham Police began scouring their missing people database for clues. It would take two months for police to identify the torso as 18-year-old Rori Hache, who had been reported missing a few days prior to being found. Despite their efforts to find the killer, the investigators could not find any significant leads that would give them the answers they were looking for. On December 29th, 2017, the police received a call a huge break. A plumber had dialed 911 to report a suspicious substance found in a drain at a property he was working at. He had gone to the property following complaints from neighbors that their plumbing was backing up into their sinks and bathtubs and was causing an unpleasant smell throughout their apartments.Durham Regional Police arrived on the scene a short while later and knocked on the home's basement apartment. When 45-year-old Adam Strong answered the door, he calmly said, "The gig's up..."Join Cam and Jen as they discuss the horrifying case "The Gig's Up: Rori Hache & Kandis Fitzpatrick"Thank you to our team:Written and researched by Fern Bushnall @eoacrimeListener Discretion by Edward October from OctoberpodVHS https://www.youtube.com/c/octoberpodhomevideoExecutive Producer Nico Vitesse of https://theinkypawprint.comSources:https://globalnews.ca/news/3736628/woman-torso-lake-ontario/ https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/autopsy-on-torso-found-in-oshawa-harbour-inconclusive-police-say-1.4288354https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/oshawa-harbour-torso-1.4285247 https://www.durhamregion.com/news/concern-growing-for-oshawa-teen-who-simply-vanished-in-august/article_5ebe0d37-de93-505e-86c6-c7b1de4d110c.html https://torontosun.com/news/local-news/oshawa-murder-victim-rori-hache-was-pregnant-and-determined-to-keep-the-babyhttps://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/she-did-not-deserve-to-die-family-remembers-teenage-girl-whose-torso-found-in-lake-ontario-1.3673593?cache=yesclipId10406200text%2Fhtml%3Bcharset%3Dutf-80404%2F7.314145%2F7.314145 https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/mother-of-murdered-teen-rori-hache-believes-her-daughter-was-hunted/article_a04d0075-585d-5f13-8e73-b9cf44ea13f4.htmlhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHfRhKzmaWc https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/body-parts-found-with-undetonated-explosive-matched-to-torso-found-in-septemberhttps://www.durhamregion.com/news/torso-found-in-oshawa-harbour-is-that-of-rori-hache-teen-missing-since-august-durham/article_5b8bbc37-bb39-5e63-801f-c9ce5dfc7caa.html https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/body-parts-found-with-undetonated-explosive-matched-to-torso-found-in-septemberhttps://nationalpost.com/news/canada/body-parts-found-with-undetonated-explosive-matched-to-torso-found-in-september https://torontosun.com/news/local-news/sun-exclusive-ex-of-hache-suspect-says-he-needs-to-choke-women-to-orgasmhttps://torontosun.com/news/local-news/rori-hache-dismemberment-suspect-controlling-and-abusivehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6k8lr_Efjc https://www.durhamregion.com/news/crime/police-discover-dna-of-second-woman-kandis-fitzpatrick-while-searching-home-of-adam-strong/article_deaf5e2f-f5ad-5d46-8ff6-d8112eb074ed.htmlhttps://www.thestar.com/news/gta/durham-police-find-second-missing-woman-s-dna-sample-in-home-where-teen-s-remains/article_491f138f-13e5-50f2-8383-ccc170d5b1e8.htmlhttps://torontosun.com/news/crime/dad-of-missing-teen-i-could-have-choked-adam-strong-to-deathhttps://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/adam-strong-murder-charges-1.4897703https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/oshawa-man-charged-with-first-degree-murder-in-deaths-of-two-women-whose-remains-and/article_629df7b2-b0f9-5a83-aa44-80fa8cf34e9d.htmlhttps://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/adam-strong-trial-begins-1.5741888 https://globalnews.ca/news/7382079/adam-strong-trial-video-statement/ https://www.durhamregion.com/news/oshawa-murder-trial-shifts-to-focus-on-adam-strongs-alleged-history-with-women/article_abc8effd-c20e-565c-ba6a-2c3817122f94.html https://www.durhamregion.com/news/accused-killer-adam-strong-showed-off-sex-video-bragged-of-dungeon-court-hears/article_22324a18-27c0-5558-9c67-b5d2ab6c9f70.html https://www.durhamregion.com/news/strong-murder-trial-hears-grotesque-inventory-of-remains-found-in-apartment/article_9f70590e-0759-5e23-bd77-52b84367361f.html https://www.durhamregion.com/news/bruising-skull-fractures-found-in-rori-hache-autopsy-strong-murder-trial-hears/article_885015a1-ab70-54a4-8c4c-afa16d922897.html https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/verdict-in-case-of-oshawa-ont-man-accused-of-killing-two-teenage-girls-pushed-to-next-month-1.5290896https://criminallawoshawa.com/adam-strong-convicted-of-first-degree-murder-and-manslaughter/https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1371814011797389313.html https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/you-sir-have-brought-darkness-to-everyone-rori-hache-s-father-says-to-daughter-s-killer-at-sentencing-hearing-1.5444674https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/adam-strong-sentenced-to-life-1.6044616https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/remains-of-kandis-fitzpatrick-found-14-years-after-she-went-missing-1.6353740

Most people have heard of the Green River Killer. Washington State’s most notorious serial killer was hard to miss in the 1990s. His moniker and his horrendous deeds could be found in most major newspapers across America. But there was another serial killer preying on society’s weak and vulnerable at about the same time in the exact same state. While Gary Ridgeway was killing women and dumping them on the western side of Washington, Robert Lee Yates Jr was doing the same thing just four hours to the east on the other side of the state. In fact, at one point, investigators thought that the Green River Killer had just moved his hunting ground. But after a few bodies showed up in Spokane with gunshot wounds and plastic grocery bags wrapped around their heads, they realized that the MO was totally different. With a growing sense of dread, investigators realized that the sex workers and runaways of Spokane were not the victims of the Green River Killer. They were the victims of an entirely different monster. Welcome to Our True Crime Podcast’s original “12 Nightmares Before Christmas,” where we discuss a true crime story daily for the days leading up to December 24. Make sure to like, subscribe, and tune in each day.On June 2, 1985, the Southern San Francisco police department received a report of a shoplifting incident. A man calmly exited a store with a tool called a vice, placed it in the trunk of a beige 1980 Honda Prelude, and vanished before apprehension could occur. Officer Daniel Wright reported to the South City Lumberyard. Inside the car was a man who presented a driver's license identifying him as Robin Stapley. One issue: the license photo did not match the man sitting in front of them. License plates on the vehicle indicated that it was registered to an individual named Lonnie Bond, and the car was listed as a Buick. Growing suspicious, officers got into the trunk and discovered the vice that had been reported as stolen. Also inside the trunk is a .22-caliber revolver fitted with a silencer. The unknown man was taken into the station, where he adamantly denied any involvement in any wrongdoing. What would unfold in the next several days is unthinkable.Join Jen and Cam of Our True Crime Podcast as we discuss The Torture Dungeon of Charles Ng and Leonard Lake: Day 11 of The 12 Nightmares Before Christmas.Listener Discretion by @octoberpodVHSMusic by our EP Nico @theinkypawprintSources:http://articles.latimes.com/1999/jan/08/news/mn-61708https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=2199&dat=19850616&id=2tsxAAAAIBAJ&pg=6662,3773323&hl=enhttp://www.biography.com/people/charles-ng-11735781#synopsishttp://articles.latimes.com/1999/apr/12/news/mn-26600https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=2199&dat=19850616&id=2tsxAAAAIBAJ&pg=6662,3773323&hl=enhttp://www.ocregister.com/articles/county-289813-convicted-murders.htmlhttp://articles.latimes.com/1999/apr/21/local/me-29591https://web.archive.org/web/20110308053131/http://www.francesfarmersrevenge.com/stuff/serialkillers/miranda.htm

When he stepped inside, he found the beaten bodies of seven people: his father, Guy Sr, Russell Toler Sr, Russell Jr, Michelle and Chrissy Toler, Brenda Falagan, and Joseph West. Michael Toler and Chrissy's three-year-old were clinging to life. Michael would later die at the hospital.Guy Heinze Jr was arrested for the murders and found guilty in a court of law. But not everyone agrees with the verdict. While some agree Guy Jr killed his entire family in a drug-fueled rage, others believe that he is completely innocent. Both were running club members and regularly trained on various trails within the Belangalo State Forest. They spent a significant part of the day running through the forest, eventually reaching a location known as the "Executioners Drop" due to its steep descent into a deep gorge. However, as they neared this spot, a foul odor began to fill the air. The closer they came to the area, the more intense the stench. Upon reaching their destination, they noticed an unusual mound on the ground, with what appeared to be strands of human hair protruding from it. Upon closer examination, they also observed a shoe fragment emerging from the mound. Sadly, the discovery of this body would be the first of many to come. We are halfway there! The revival was just getting started when 56-year-old farmer Rowland Stuart Taylor felt a wave of nausea and abdominal discomfort. Thinking it was just something he ate, Stuart fidgeted but wanted to stay for the revival. As the service went on, he began to feel worse and worse. He also didn’t want to disappoint his girlfriend, 45-year-old Velma Barfield, by leaving, so he decided to go out to the truck to lie down for a while. When the revival ended, Velma returned to the truck and drove them home. She had to stop the vehicle at least once for Stuart to throw up on the side of the road. She reported that her highly responsible employee, 20-year-old Corinna Novis, had failed to show up for work for several days, which was uncharacteristic of her. Corinna recently relocated from Idaho to California and worked diligently to support her education. As news of Corinna's disappearance began circulating in the media and spread throughout the area, the Redlands Police Department received an intriguing phone call from the Laguna Police Department. A Laguna Police sergeant reported that a local convenience store manager had made a puzzling discovery near the dumpster.Join Cam and Jen of Our True Crime Podcast to discuss Wicked Romance: Cynthia Coffman and James Marlow: Day 5 of The 12 Nightmares Before Christmas.Listener Discretion by @octoberpodVHSMusic by our EP Nico @theinkypawprintSources:https://murderific.com/cynthia-coffman-james-marlow/https://caselaw.findlaw.com/court/ca-supreme-court/1445535.htmlhttps://scocal.stanford.edu/opinion/people-v-marlow-33453https://wickedwe.com/cynthia-coffman/https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1992-04-26-mn-1532-story.html

Make sure to like, subscribe, and tune in each day. It's Day 4!On a cold and cloudy May of 1992, a middle-aged man and his mother visited the Hillview Memorial Cemetery in the Springfield township of Oakland County, Michigan. They were there to leave flowers for his father, who had passed away two years before. The man noticed something odd as he approached his father’s grave. There was a car parked haphazardly on the drive, with the door standing wide open. The man honked his horn, but when he got no response to that, he became worried. He got out of the car to investigate, and that’s when he saw a tattooed, muscular man with a mustache dragging a woman into the bushes along the tree line. The mustached man had his hand over the woman’s mouth, and she looked frightened. “Sir, will you go away?” the muscular tattooed man yelled. The older man’s blood ran cold as he realized that what was going on wasn't consensual. As casually as he could, he placed the flowers on his father’s grave, turned, took down the car's license plate number, and then drove away. Soon, he happened upon a patrol officer who was at the scene of an accident just a quarter of a mile from the entrance to the cemetery. He told the officer he’d just seen a man try to abduct a woman from Hillview Memorial. Oakland County Deputy Gary Alexander hopped in his car and headed straight for the graveyard. As the officer got closer, he saw the car speeding down the road, and he then engaged in a high-speed chase. As he was cuffing the man, he heard a sound. He stopped, glanced around, and realized the noise was coming from the car's trunk. After securing the suspect, the officer managed to open the trunk, and there he found a woman bound with a plastic zip-tie around her neck. Alexander also found a handgun, a knife, and a bag of zip ties in the car. The deputy pulled the driver’s license from the man’s wallet, which read: Leslie Allen Williams. The campus bustled with activity, featuring a mix of young students envisioning their future and more mature individuals returning to complete degrees they had embarked on years earlier. On that morning at UAH, Instructor Amy Bishop conducted her science classes, and her students later described the course as uneventful and routine. Meanwhile, a meeting for the biology department was slated for Room 369 in the Shelby Center for Science and Technology, which housed both the Biology and Mathematics departments. Amy Bishop joined her colleagues at the meeting, and for approximately 40 minutes, she sat silently among them. What would happen next would shock the academic community, leaving three families grieving and many asking why.Join Cam and Jen of Our True Crime Podcast to discuss A Fine Line Between Genius and Insanity: Amy Bishop: Day 3: The 12 Nightmares Before Christmas.Listener Discretion by @octoberpodVHSMusic by our EP Nico @theinkypawprintSources:https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2013/02/11/a-loaded-gunhttps://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/21/us/21bishop.htmlhttps://www.al.com/news/2022/08/amy-bishops-son-seth-anderson-died-in-unintentional-shooting-huntsville-teen-indicted.htmlhttps://www.al.com/topic/Amy%20Bishop/index.htmlhttps://sports.yahoo.com/amy-bishops-son-seth-bishop-200037215.htmlhttps://criminal-justice.iresearchnet.com/types-of-crime/school-violence/amy-bishop/https://abcnews.go.com/GMA/amy-bishop-husband-alleged-university-alabama-shooter-loving-mother-wife/story?id=9883895https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3280081/Former-Alabama-professor-shot-6-3-fatally-apologizes.htmlhttps://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2010/02/amy_bishop_alleged_uah_shooter.html

Margarette was well-liked by her students and coworkers and had several grown children of her own. Around 4:30 in the afternoon on November 9th, 1986, some of Margarette’s students arrived at the cottage to take her to a concert. When the students knocked on the door, they were met with silence. Finally, one of them tried the doorknob, and it was unlocked. They entered the cottage and found a grisly scene.Margarette Eby was Flint, Michigan’s 56th homicide that year.Five years later, in hotel room 354 in Romulus, Michigan, the wake-up calls from the front desk went unanswered. A 41-year-old flight attendant, Nancy Jean Ludwig Lud wig, from Minnetonka, Minnesota, had checked into room 354 around 9 P.M. the night before. Nancy had been a flight attendant for Northwest Airlines since 1976 and enjoyed her job quite a bit. It was about 12:50 in the afternoon when the housekeeper opened the door to a pitch-black room. The housekeeper walked over to the window and, upon opening the curtains, turned and discovered Nancy Jean Ludwig. She had been stabbed to death. Both cases went cold until 2002 when new technology helped investigators find their killer, Jeffrey Wayne Gorton.Join Cam and Jen as they discuss "Room 354: Jeffrey Gorton"Thank you to our team:Written and researched by Lauretta AllenListener Discretion by Edward October from https://www.youtube.com/c/octoberpodhomevideoExecutive Producer Nico Vitesse of https://theinkypawprint.comSources:https://mdocweb.state.mi.us/otis2/otis2profile.aspx?mdocNumber=428571https://murderpedia.org/male.G/g/gorton-jeffrey.htmhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeffrey_Gortonhttps://www.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/B017VDEE7I/ref=atv_dp_season_select_s2 (S2E8 of Your Worst Nightmare on ID “Fight or Flight”)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTRvWZIpw-I It is also featured on the Forensics Files episode "Silk Stalkings." To quote my dear friend Dexter from season 6, “High school, a small world unto itself, combining all the elements of a federal work camp with those of a third-world poultry farm.” Adrianne Reynolds, a 16-year-old, had recently arrived in town in November. Originally, Adrianne had been residing in Kilgore, Texas, with her mother. However, due to difficulties in school, her parents decided to send her to live with her stepfather, hoping that a change of environment would provide her with a fresh beginning. Consequently, Adrianne relocated to East Moline, Illinois, where her father and stepmother eagerly welcomed her. It was in East Moline that Adrianne crossed paths with Sarah and Corey. Like most teenagers, all Adrianne wanted was to fit in, and she was an outgoing and talkative girl who loved to sing. Her biggest dream was to be a contestant on American Idol. Adrianne would never get the chance to audition for the popular television show. Adrianne would never get a chance to do anything ever again.Join Jen and Cam from Our True Crime Podcast as we discuss ‘With Friends Like These: Adrianne Reynolds Day 1: The 12 Nightmares Before Christmas.’Listener Discretion by @octoberpodVHSMusic by our EP Nico @theinkypawprintSources:https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna15333880https://web.archive.org/web/20150722111604/http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20146836,00.htmlhttps://www.themidwestcrimefiles.com/post/unthinkable-the-murder-of-adrianne-reynoldshttp://www.nbcnews.com/id/15333880https://web.archive.org/web/20150722111604/http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20146836,00.htmlhttps://qctimes.com/news/local/article_491d3fbc-0643-11df-a00e-001cc4c03286.htmlhttps://qconline.com/archives/qco/display.php?id=296357https://qctimes.com/news/local/accomplice-in-east-moline-teen-s-killing-dies-in-fiery/article_2d85584c-8996-11e1-a999-0019bb2963f4.htmlhttps://web.archive.org/web/20120324123837/http://www.extremeskins.com/showthread.php?90249-Illinois-teen-killed-and-dismembered-classmates-under-arresthttps://www.kwqc.com/2022/03/09/cory-gregory-gets-same-sentence-2005-killing-adrienne-reynolds/?outputType=amp

in the uk sex offenders ,do not have to come tell you ,you can request under Sarah's law if you believe your child is in contact with someone who may be a pedophile ,and police will check their background and will tell you confidentially if that person has a history of sexual offences .

I hate it when the "undeveloped brain" excuse is used for murderers who happen to be young. There are some truly evil young people in this world. I do not believe this guy should have been released, the role of his mom not withstanding. He is no Billy Flynn.

Um… MyPatriotSupply.com?? America is facing more dangers than ever? Things are falling apart on a DAILY BASIS?? Food shortages? This ad is… troubling, misleading and irresponsible. While I’m sure MyPatriotSupply.com is a business that exists, I also believe that this particular advertisement— from the content to the speaker’s voice— was designed to advance the belief that America faces existential peril under a Democratic administration; more to the point, I believe it‘a a dog whistle meant for people who believe the 2020 election was stolen. This is as much a political ad as many overt campaign ads, and if you as podcasters have enough integrity to “keep politics out of it” (as people with these particular beliefs always demand of their entertainment media), you’ll remove these ads. Even if you lack integrity, the ad itself is unsettling, creepy and way more bothersome than the oft-bemoaned “Best Fiends” commercials.

This monster did not deserve to die of natural causes. Surely the families of his victims could rest easier and I wish them the best. I can res easier knowing that it is impossible now for him to negotiate a release in some secret deal made with some misguided individuals who believe they are being both humane and practical, as has happened from time to time. The one child torturer/murderer/sexual sadist comes to mind. I cannot fathom the knots the Courts will twist themselves into -- the bad decisions they make in the name of"sparing the families further suffering" for example -- to find these guys a path to freedom and a way to reinflict these monsters onto society.
