The purpose of church is to help us become mature and equipped so that we will grow up into Jesus. We must have our minds renewed and transformed so that when the world looks at us they see Jesus. During this process we will undergo trials and tribulations. Sometimes we will have to praise our way through these and other times we will have to speak the word the Lord gives us. The first covenant, the law, was performance based. If you did good, you received good. If you did bad, you received bad. The sacrifices of animals had to be made continually and still only the outward person was cleansed. It did nothing for the inward person. Jesus came to fulfill the first covenant and establish the second covenant of grace. Because of His one and only sacrifice we have been forever redeemed. His blood cleanses us from the inside out. The spirit of offense is like a snake in the grass lying in wait to catch us unaware. When we let hurt feelings go unchecked, bitterness forms and gives the enemy a foothold in our lives. An offended heart seeks revenge on the offender. It takes us to a dark place. Don't let offense rob you of your peace. Be quick to forgive as Jesus has forgiven you. In order for temptation to be valid two things must be true. There must be both a desire and the ability to fulfill a promise given. Satan will offer us counterfeit versions of the legitimate desires that God has given us. Although these counterfeits are quick and easy to obtain, the price the enemy exacts for them is much too high. Don't submit to Satan's authority.
