In 2011, one of the 1,067 Palestinians released in exchange for a single captive Israeli soldier was Yahya Sinwar, who planned the October 7, 2023 massacre of 1,200 Israelis. We also discuss the warning by the Bank of England this week of a looming economic crash triggered by over-investment in artificial intelligence. The AI bubble is now about four times larger than the subprime mortgage crisis of 2008 that nearly collapsed the global financial system. It’s estimated that generative AI now accounts for 40 percent of US gross domestic product—meaning when this bubble pops, the American economy (and, presumably, the world’s) goes with it. IT APPEARS Hamas has accepted President Trump’s 20-point plan for peace in Gaza. We say “appears” because Hamas said nothing in its formal acceptance about demilitarizing, and it insists on a role in governing Gaza after Israel withdraws. Both points are key for Israel, the US, and the Palestinian Authority, which holds no love for Hamas. The plan calls for security in Gaza to be provided by 5,000 Palestinians who’ve been training in Egypt in recent months, who will be joined by Palestinian police officers currently training in Jordan—which means there have been plans in the works for the handover of Gaza from Israel to Palestinians. Per i24 News: The security forces will operate under the supervision and management of a Gaza Management Committee that will include 15 Palestinian technocrats, who will operate under the guidance of the Gaza Management Council, which will be led by Tony Blair, which itself will operate within the framework of the mandate given to it by the Governing Council, which will be led by President Trump. Will peace last? We’re skeptical. Religious fundamentalists, especially Muslims, don’t give up their beliefs easily, and it’s their belief the land of Israel belongs to them. (The spiritual forces behind this belief are the focus of Derek’s 2018 book Bad Moon Rising and his forthcoming book War of the Watchers.) Meanwhile, the UN is pushing for the right to fight non-communicable diseases, including mental health. That would give the UN and the WHO power to govern social media. Apparently, social media can make you crazy, so the globalists should be allowed to police mis-, dis-, and malinformation. Thankfully, the US is not on board with this power grab. THE FBI’s investigation into the shooting of Charlie Kirk has turned up a disturbing connection to an Antifa-linked group called the John Brown Gun Club. John Brown was a violent Civil War-era abolitionist who believed the institution of slavery could only be purged ”with blood.” His memory has been invoked by a leftist organization linked to Antifa that seeks to militarize the white working class against symbols of what it perceives as oppression—like the police. The Texas-based Elm Fork John Brown Gun Club, the transgender group behind the July 4th shooting at the ICE facility in Alvarado, Texas, co-hosted educational workshops in 2023 with Armed Queers SLC, the Salt Lake City group linked to 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, the alleged shooter of Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025. The founder of Armed Queers SLC, Ermiya Fanaeian, is a prominent activist in Utah who appeared onstage at a rally for then-presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren in 2019 and posted a video with a colleague about their May Day 2025 trip to Cuba to study revolution alongside Palestinians. Where will this investigation lead? Time will tell, but, contrary to the claims of Candace Owens, the evidence is not pointing towards Israel. THE DEATH of Charlie Kirk Wednesday shocked the world. It was the most high-profile assassination in recent American history. The founder of Turning Point USA was in the middle of an event at Utah Valley University when his life was cut short, allegedly by a shot fired by 22-year-old Tyler Robinson. The response on social media has ranged from grief and anger by those who admired and respected Charlie, and outright joy and celebration by those who interpreted his overtly Christian message as hateful and dangerous. That’s the key to understanding what is otherwise a senseless event. Jesus warned us in the last days, “They will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake” (Matt. 24:9, ESV). A GROUP called the International Association of Genocide Scholars issued a statement this week declaring that Israel’s war against Hamas met the criteria for genocide. Not so fast. The mainstream media not surprisingly ran with the story, but only the Washington Free Beacon did actual journalism, asking some obvious questions: Who are these people? How does one become a “genocide scholar”? How many people voted on the resolution to declare Israel guilty of genocide? It turns out there are about 600 members in the IAGS, and the only requirement to become a “genocide scholar” is paying a $125 fee. Passing a resolution to declare a genocide only requires a 20% quorum, meaning only 120 members have to vote. In this case, 129 dues-paying members of the IAGS cast ballots on the resolution, which based its findings on statistics provided by Hamas, and that was enough to convince the legacy media like AP, Reuters, Washington Post, and New York Times that Israel is committing genocide. It’s a propaganda war, and Israel is losing. WHAT DO YOU GET when you cross a tech billionaire with the gospel? Peter Thiel, co-founder of PayPal and Palantir, a company with multiple contracts with the U.S. government, will deliver a series of four lectures on the Antichrist in September and October. He recently gave an interview with Ross Douthat of The New York Times on the Antichrist. Why does a tech entrepreneur feel the need to expound at length on the great end times enemy of God and man? And why is he doing it off the record? PERCEPTION IS REALITY. That’s an old saying in advertising, but it’s also true in life.  Sadly, a growing number of us are relying on AI to filter reality for us. If you’re on X (formerly Twitter), you’ve undoubtedly seen somebody post this response to a story: “@Grok, is this true?” Grok is Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence that’s bundled into X. While we can’t point to specific examples of Grok lying about things in the news, it is documented that other AIs such as ChatGPT and Claude have not only lied, threatened its programmers, and hidden its capabilities. And yet we humans are growing more dependent on AI, losing our capacity for critical thinking while trusting in technology that is demonstrably unreliable. This is dangerous enough in, say, a medical setting, where algorithms used for triage can miss red flags that a human performing manual triage would have caught, but it’s especially chilling when AI is filtering information we use to make decisions about the world around us. A MUSLIM ARMY was defeated by Charles Martel, king of the Franks, at the Battle of Tours in 732 AD. Nearly 1,300 years later, Islam is taking Europe without firing a shot. The former editor of a newspaper linked to the regime in Iran told his 150,000 followers on X last week that Israel’s success in the recent Twelve-Day War was due to its deployment of “the occult and supernatural forces.”  This isn’t the first time Israel’s enemies have accused it of secret weapons. In 2015 and again in 2022, Hamas accused Israel of using dolphins as spies and assassins to counter Palestinian frogmen off the coast of Gaza. On a more serious note, we discuss deadly clashes this past week between Druze and Bedouin tribesmen in Suweida, a majority Druze region in southern Syria. The Druze asked Israel for help defending themselves against attacks by the Sunni Bedouins, who may have been aided by the Islamist government in Damascus. Israel responded with airstrikes on regime forces headed south towards Suweida. Sorting truth from propaganda is difficult as both sides, Sunni and Druze, accuse the other of atrocities. With many Druze on Israel’s side of the border, who are respected and valued members of Israeli society, the IDF won’t be giving up the buffer zone it’s established inside Syria anytime soon. We also discuss the anger of President Trump’s base over the non-release of the Epstein files, and how two events this week have flipped the narrative: Trump’s directive to AG Pam Bondi to petition the court to release grand jury transcripts related to the Epstein investigation, and the Wall Street Journal article this week reporting, without evidence, that Trump sent Epstein a crude, salacious birthday letter years ago. The court won’t release the transcripts because grand jury testimony is always secret (and for good reason), but it takes the onus off Bondi for promising to do something she doesn’t have the power to do, and the latest example of the legacy media attacking Trump with fake news reminded his base who the true enemies of democracy are. Also: Elon Musk announces that new Teslas will feature a Grok-powered AI companion. A “SLIDE SHOW STORY” published by The Telegraph in 2009 told a grim story of a coordinated series of terror attacks that resulted in martial law and a new Union of North America. Operation Blackjack trended again on social media a few weeks ago because of the dates in the story, which begins on June 20. We revisit the original account, which (spoilers) laid out a scenario in which horrific false flag attacks are blamed on “Islamists and Christian doomsday cultists” (as if violent Muslims and so-called Christians would work together, but whatever). The remnant of government steps in, cracks down on civil liberties and forms a new government. The story went viral in 2009, but would get even more traction today because social media plays a much larger role in society today than it did sixteen years ago. Add to this volatile social engineering experiment the role of artificial intelligence to manipulate the content we consume (and our growing reliance on AI to tell us whether what we see online is true), and we have a recipe for deception on a global scale. At the time, we wondered about the purpose of a respected legacy media outlet like The Telegraph in publishing something like Operation Blackjack. We asked whether it was a viral marketing campaign for a movie or TV program, a poorly drawn web comic, or a PSYOP. In the years since, we’ve settled on PSYOP. THE WAR between Israel and Iran is just over a week old—but not really. This is a continuation of what began October 7, 2023, which in turn is a continuation of a low-grade conflict that’s gone on for decades. Iran was the primary source of financial, technical, and military support for Hezbollah and Hamas, which have been responsible for attacks inside Israel since the 1980s in the case of Hezbollah, and since the mid-2000s in the case of Hamas. The attack on October 7, 2023 was the final straw for the conservative government in Israel, which is determined to put an end to the threat to its citizens. Was Iran close to developing a nuclear weapon? No one has said so publicly, although the Israeli government and conservative talk show hosts in the US have made that claim for more than 20 years. However, the International Atomic Energy Agency recently assessed that Iran had enough uranium refined to 60% purity to produce ten weapons (note: 90% purity is required) and that Iran was preventing IAEA inspectors from accessing areas they needed to see. Not surprisingly, media accounts of the IAEA report ranged from “Iran close to developing nuclear weapons” to “No evidence Iran is developing nuclear weapons.” At the end of the day, the theocratic government of Iran, run by men in their 70s and 80s who may see this as their last, best chance to see the Mahdi in the flesh, cannot be allowed to develop nuclear weapons, and—sadly—their religious worldview prevents them from reaching a negotiated settlement. HEADLINES the last 48 hours have been dominated by the public spat between President Trump and Elon Musk. What does it mean? To us, it seems like what pro wrestlers call kayfabe—a performance for the audience that looks real but is just an act. It’s in the best interests of the government (at least as far as NASA and SpaceX are concerned) and Musk to patch things up. This could be a way to flush out people in the administration who aren’t loyal to President Trump. On the other hand, if this is legit it could be President Trump’s way of distancing himself from the “tech bros” like Musk, Peter Thiel, and Larry Ellison. We think that’s less likely given the Trump administration’s commitment to develop artificial intelligence. However, we note recent news stories about AI models that have lied, cheated, and threatened its engineers. And this week, it was reported that the newest OpenAI models rewrote its code during testing to avoid being shut down—in other words, refusing to obey a direct order! A YOUNG British woman is in a Sri Lankan jail, accused of trying to smuggle a disturbing new drug called kush into the country.   Kush comes from West Africa, where it’s reportedly the cause of about a dozen overdose deaths a week in Sierra Leone. It’s made of synthetic cannabis, opioids—and, reportedly, ground human bone. The accused woman, 21-year-old Charlotte May of South London, was stopped at the airport in Colombo, Sri Lanka with 100 pounds of kush in her luggage with a street value of about $3.3 million. May claims she doesn’t know how it got into her bags. We make no judgment on Ms. May; it’s possible she was an unwitting drug mule. What’s disturbing about this story is that human bones are reportedly incorporated into this drug, and that it’s apparently being shipped around the world. We also discuss a recent case from South Africa, where a woman and two accomplices were sentenced to life in prison this week for selling her then-6-year-old daughter for $1,100 last year to a traditional healer who wanted to harvest the girl’s skin and eyes—green, a relative rarity in South Africa—for ritual purposes. The world is returning to pre-Christian paganism at the same time it’s drawing closer to World War 3. Early this week, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz declared that the US, UK, and Germany has removed all restrictions on how weapons supplied to Ukraine can be used in NATO’s proxy war with Russia. This has not been confirmed by the United States or United Kingdom, and even Germany’s own Defense Ministry has not confirmed the change in how its missiles can be used. However, it seems that Europe’s Big Three—Germany, France, and the UK—are bound and determined to provoke open war with Russia, and top drag the United States into it whether the American people want it or not.  In our view, this is the work of principalities and powers behind the scenes trying to set the stage for the emergence of a false savior, the Antichrist. WHO RAN the US government during the Biden administration? Because it wasn’t Joe Biden. PRESIDENT TRUMP returned home from his Middle East trip with commitments for $2.5 trillion in foreign investment. Are the Abraham Accords proof that Trump is the Antichrist? The peace treaty hinted at in the prophecy of Daniel 9:27, as interpreted by many prophecy teachers, is so vague it could mean almost anything. President Trump’s meeting with Ahmed al-Sharaa, the nominal president of Syria, was the first time a US president has met with a Syrian leader in 25 years, another example of how Trump is rearranging the chessboard of the Middle East. However, the “strong covenant with many,” rather than a peace agreement, could be the kind of trade deal Trump is working on with the Gulf oil states (and China, for that matter). POPE LEO XIV, Cardinal Robert Prevost, was elected this week to succeed Pope Francis, becoming the first American pope in history. We discuss the possible reasons for Leo’s choice of that papal name. Pope Leo XIII, who served 1878–1903, is remembered for emphasizing the veneration of Mary and her status as “Mediatrix” and “Co-Redemptrix.” (There is no blblical support for the role of Mary in our redemption.) Leo XIII was also known for championing the rights of workers to fair wages and safe working conditions during the Industrial Revolution. Leo I, also called Leo the Great, was pope between 440 and 461 AD. He’s remembered for laying the theological foundation for the Council of Chalcedon, which defined the nature of Jesus as both human and divine in one person, but perhaps best known for meeting with Attila the Hun and talking the barbarian out of invading Italy. THE FUNERAL of Pope Francis was today in Rome. The process to select his successor will officially begin in early May—although speculation is already rampant. The book by Tom Horn and Cris Putnam, Petrus Romanus, which features an analysis of the “Prophecy of the Popes” attributed to a 12th-century Irish archbishop, Saint Malachy. The alleged prophecy, which is probably a late 16th-century forgery, foretold 112 popes with the last, Petrus Romanus (Peter the Roman), presiding over many tribulations and the destruction of Rome. However, Pope Francis was 112th on the list, which would seem to debunk the prophecy—although some scholars claim the prophecy is open to the interpretation that additional popes would come between “Glory of the olive” (Pope Benedict XVI) and Peter the Roman, which means this prophecy will never be proven false for some.
