The Philadelphia Flyers played a very strong first period, outshooting the Colorado Avalanche 10-6 and dictating the pace for much of the period. But after that, it was mostly all Avs. Sam Girard and Nathan MacKinnon scored in the second, a period that saw Colorado outshoot Philly 18-7, and then it became a question of “will Mackenzie Blackwood get the shutout?” Well, he did.Charlie, Bill & Steve break down the loss and discuss the roster situation with several injuries and the Farabee/Frost trade impacting availability.
The Philadelphia Flyers and New York Islanders played their third game in about 2 weeks on Thursday night, but despite an early fight between Scott Laughton & Maxim Tsyplakov and a disallowed Matvei Michkov power play goal, not much happened on the ice.But off the ice, we have trade rumors! The Calgary Flames sat Andrei Kuzmenko and Morgan Frost wasn’t seen on the Flyguys’ bench from about the halfway point of the second period.Charlie, Kelly & Bill discuss the loss, as well as a potential trade that may break before the end of the show!
In what was a physical, fast-paced game between the New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia Flyers for their third meeting in 12 days, the Devils were finally able to take advantage of their major skill and speed advantage over Philly. The Devils pumped 4 goals by Sam Ersson in the first 13:30 of the second period, chasing Team Sweden’s newest addition from the game for Ivan Fedotov en route to a blowout win.Charlie, Bill & Steve break down the loss, and discuss several trade deadline options for the Orange & Black, including Elias Pettersson & Brandt Clarke.
Travis Konecny is having one of the most productive seasons for a Philadelphia Flyer in years, despite a recent goal drought. TK is 10 points behind his career high with 31 games left, and has already matched the most assists he’s ever recorded. Can Travis Konecny keep it up? Can he be the first 90 point player in Orange & Black since Claude Giroux put up 102 points in 2017-18? How will the 4 Nations Face-Off impact TK’s season?Charlie, Kelly & Bill discuss Konecny’s season and where the Flyguys currently stand in the playoff race.
We did it! In back-to-back days, Philadelphia teams have defeated Josh Harris-owned teams in the South Philly sports complex that the Sixers owner wanted to break up.Sam Ersson played one of his best games of the season, while the Flyers got offense from all their depth, including Garnet Hathaway matching last year’s goal and points total in 31 fewer games.Charlie, Kelly & Bill break down the win over New Jersey, and the Eastern Conference playoff race.
For a second straight night, the Flyers scored the game’s opening goal, but went to the first intermission trailing 2-1, and again, the New York team never looked back. Back-to-back regulation losses to division foes now have the Flyers falling further from Stanley Cup Playoff contention. The biggest news in the NHL, however, is a huge trade between the Carolina Hurricanes, Colorado Avalanche and Chicago Blackhawks which will send Mikko Rantanen to the Canes for Martin Necas and Jack Drury. Taylor Hall is also headed to Carolina from the ‘Hawks.Bill & Kelly react to Flyers/Islanders, as well as Carolina GM Eric Tulsky making one of the biggest trades the NHL has seen in a while.
The Philadelphia Flyers played their worst period in weeks to start this game in Madison Square Garden, and when you couple a mediocre-at-best performance with a red hot Igor Shesterkin, the New York Rangers won handily in a game with significant implications in the wild card race.Owen Tippett opened the scoring, directing a puck off his skate on the rush for a 1-0 lead, but it was all Rangers after that.Bill, Charlie & Steve break down the loss, and what it means for the Flyers playoff chances and the upcoming schedule.
Philadelphia Flyers GM Danny Briere addressed the media on Tuesday, and following a 2-1 OT win over the Red Wings, we’re taking a look at Danny B’s words from yesterday. From Briere’s take on the upcoming prospects not yet donning Orange & Black, to whether there will be a trade market for Rasmus Ristolainen ahead of the trade deadline, Charlie & Bill touch on everything from yesterday’s presser, as well as answer some mailbag questions.
A mostly uneventful game between the Detroit Red Wings and Philadelphia Flyers lends itself perfectly to a mailbag show!General manager Danny Briere met with the assembled media on Tuesday morning, and spoke at length about Rasmus Ristolainen, Sam Ersson and the goaltending, and all the rumors ahead of the March 7th Trade Deadline.Bill answers questions from the mailbag before Charlie joins from the Wells Fargo Center to dissect Flyers/Red Wings.
Matvei Michkov has fallen out of favor over the last few weeks, falling behind Macklin Celebrini, Lane Hutson and even Dustin Wolf in the Calder Trophy race. But a recent hot streak has re-opened the possibility for The Mad Russian to get back into the conversation.Similarly, the Flyers looked to be trending towards the basement with a 5-10-2 stretch from December 5th through January 9th. But with 4 wins and 9 points in their last 5 games, the Orange & Black are right back in it.Bill & Charlie discuss both the Calder & playoff races, as well as the decision to call up Rodrigo Ābols after placing Ryan Poehling on IR.
It wasn’t pretty, but the Philadelphia Flyers worked hard to secure a victory over the Devils in New Jersey on Saturday afternoon.A low event game that only saw 32 shots on goal and over 50 total blocks, the Flyers PK & PP stepped up to beat one of the best teams in the east.Charlie, Bill & Steve break down the win and look at Philly’s playoff push.
The first period of Thursday’s matchup with the Islanders was marred by a questionable hit that knocked Ryan Poehling out of the game, and the emotions after that put the Flyers at a 1-0 deficit after 20 minutes. But Philadelphia responded with a 3-goal middle frame, and an 11-6 shot advantage highlighted by some huge setups from Travis Konecny. The Isles showed life in the 3rd but a Cam York goal stemmed the tide and propelled the Orange & Black to victory.Charlie & Bill break down the win, and big games for Morgan Frost & Joel Farabee.
John Tortorella and his staff have been behind the Philadelphia Flyers’ bench for 209 games, as of Tuesday night’s matchup with the Columbus Blue Jackets. And while the Orange & Black have managed to cycle in some new, young players in that time, much of the lineup has been here for at least a part of Torts’ two-and-a-half seasons. Morgan Frost, Joel Farabee, Rasmus Ristolainen, Cam York and many others need to have decisions made about their future in one way or another soon, and it’s time to start talking about what those decisions could mean for the long term. Charlie & Bill discuss potential trades & re-signings with the Trade Deadline approaching. Plus, Charlie & Bill reveal their Quarter-Century Teams!
The Philadelphia Flyers hadn’t won more than 2 straight games since the end of November, and that streak continues after a shootout loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.Looking for only their second win in the backend of a back-to-back this season, Bobby Brink and Owen Tippett lit the lamp for the Orange and Black in a surprisingly low-scoring game while Zach Werenski put 2 pucks behind Ivan Fedotov.Charlie & Bill break down the shootout loss, the continued strong play of Noah Cates, and John Tortorella’s pending decisions on the lineup and goaltending.
Despite a rough first period that saw the Philadelphia Flyers fall 2-0 after 20 minutes, the Orange & Black defeated the Florida Panthers 4-3 for their second straight win.The Philly power play scored twice, as did Noah Cates, to fuel the big victory.Charlie, Kelly & Bill break down the win, and whether players like Morgan Frost & Matvei Michkov can continue to ride this momentum.
Cutter Gauthier makes his unsuccessful return to Philadelphia as Travis Konecny, Jamie Drysdale and the Philadelphia Flyers snap a four game losing streak, beat the Ducks 6-0, as the fans look to welcome back Gauthier by raining down the boo's.
Despite showing signs of life in the 3rd period, the Philadelphia Flyers lost their fourth straight game to open 2025, falling to the Dallas Stars on Thursday night at the Wells Fargo Center. The Stars jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first and never looked back, as the Orange & Black put up little fight in the first 40 minutes of Ed Snider Legacy night.Bill & Steve break down the loss, evaluate Sam Ersson’s return from injury, and discuss if this is a sign of what’s to come in the second half.
The Philadelphia Flyers played their 41st game of the season on Tuesday night, marking the end of the first half of the 2024-25 season.Travis Konecny is on pace for 41 goals, Matvei Michkov has flashed greatness and the goaltenders have been the worst in the league.Charlie, Kelly & Bill share their grades, biggest surprises and disappointments from the first half, as well as discuss John Tortorella’s role in The Mad Russian’s development.Oh, and it’s also the anniversary of the Cutter Gauthier for Jamie Drysdale (and a 2nd!) trade.
It came down to some late heroics by Joseph Woll but Toronto was able to hold on for the regulation win in the Flyers first game back in Philly since December 21.Travis Konecny scored twice to give him six career 20-goal seasons but ultimately it wasn’t enough.Kelly & Bill break down the loss and discuss the first half of the Flyers season.
Where is this Philadelphia Flyers season going? By points-percentage they’re 23rd in the league, 10th from the bottom. They’re also 2 points out of the last Stanley Cup Playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.Charlie & Bill step back on a snowy Monday to discuss how they think the 2nd half of the season will play out, and how John Tortorella’s handling of Matvei Michkov, Sean Couturier and the goaltenders could come into play down the stretch.

I understand that Stef always wants to be part of the show and good for her, but maybe scale it back a little bit. I listen to every episode and this isn't the first time she annoyed me but this one made me comment. Stef, stay on the show if you want but take more of a sidekick role, it will be better for the show.
