PIECES OF MY AFRICAN SOUL

Hello, I am Jephtha Malelah. A Kenyan author, poet, film maker, travel enthusiast, human rights campaigner and social worker. I am here to share with you my experiences growing up in Africa, travelling, creating art and working with communities. To tell the stories of young people working everyday to find their space in the world, stories of the older generation that lived in segregation and captivity, stories of hope. I hope to join in fighting prejudice and to find love and peace, I hope to dream and to achieve. This is for me and for you. Let us take the journey together. Dear Mr. President! Listen To Us!

Here’s an open letter to the president of Kenya. The collective voice of the young people of Kenya, rings across the country. It’s an outcry for all punitive actions of your government against us. Don’t belittle our voices or call us outlaws, just listen. We are tired! --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/malelah/support

DEAR MAMA SUE

I recently lost a friend, a mother and a supporter. She was dear to me, to us. A lovely human being who loved with all her strength and was passionate about people and animals. This is one of the poems I wrote when I thought about how much I miss her. I know it is not the last I will write about her because there will never be enough pages to describe how much she meant to us. Rest easy Mama, till we meet again. SEPTEMBER(A POEM) FT RENATO ZEPPI

This is a special poem for two reason: I wrote it for someone I really was in love with. It was anticipation of a time when I would get to see them. Secondly, this specific episode is in collaboration with someone I really admire and love as artist and as a person, my pops Renato Zeppi. He is an amazing human being, funny, loving and caring. Based in Boston, USA, he is a seasoned musician too. The song in this episode is one of the many that he has composed. I hope that you enjoy.
