PUTF Podcast — Season 4, Episode 7 featuring Josh CheonJosh Cheon grew up in northern New Jersey, just outside New York City where he spent his weekends dancing at goth clubs and digging for records. He moved to San Francisco in 2006 and joined gay DJ collective Honey Soundsystem from 2007 to 2017. His love of underground ‘80s music pushed him to start Dark Entries in 2009, a record label specializing in reissuing lost music from that era as well as contemporary bands referencing those analog sounds.Website . BandcampDark Entries is a project of Josh Cheon, a vinyl-focused DJ and collector, Dark Entries was born in the Spring of 2009 to release out of print and unreleased underground music as well as contemporary bands. All of their releases are a carry over from the DIY days of the 1980s independent record labels. https://darkentriesrecords.bandcamp.com/PUTF’s interview series is dedicated to spotlighting inspiring creatives from the PUTF community and beyond. PUTF Podcast — Season 4, Episode 6 featuring Barbie Bertisch & Paul RaffaeleLove Injection is variously known as a publication, a radio show, a DJ partnership, production duo, and a record label. Co-founded by Barbie Bertisch and Paul Raffaele in 2015 as a monthly print fanzine, Love Injection’s continued multi-faceted expansion and evolution reflects the ongoing process of celebrating people and culture, seeking to fill in the gaps of dance music and nightlife culture’s untold stories and histories, and bring new perspectives to familiar ones. The pair host the Love Injection radio show on NYC’s beloved online radio institution, The Lot Radio, on the air every Saturday morning since February 2016. This sonic extension of Love Injection the print fanzine provides the duo, and their occasional esteemed guest hosts, the latitude to explore sounds unrestricted by the demands of the nocturnal dance floor. The newest branch of the Love Injection family tree is its record label, Love Injection Records. Conceptually, the label lives and operates with similarly fluid aesthetics, with one foot in the dance world and one outside of it.Counter to the modern trend of increasingly short DJ sets that leave little room for texture and nuance, Barbie and Paul’s preferred mode of DJing is the all-nighter – an extended journey/narrative with a beginning, middle, and end.
