Bonus Episode: We sit down with Ty and D'andre two very talented brothers that have been mastering their craft for a long time. D'andre is an artist in every sense of the word he creates music, comics and illustrates them himself. Ty creates amazing cut & sewn garments with an attention to detail that would rival any of your favorite brands. We talk about our first time meeting, collaborating on an event at PSA and what they hope to accomplish in the next 5 years. Ty actually surprised us by saying he will be joiningg the Airforce soon and will take some time off from designing we then get into the similarites about superhero films and how they show alot of military propeganda. The subject of brotherhood is brought up alot on this episode being that this is the first times we have brothers on the pod but also with my two sons on my mind and me being an only child I find it really intriguing. We learn so much about these two and I cant thank them enough for coming on and sharing their story, I hope to have them back one day at the shop to showcase their work again. Thank you for listening all the way through and for being a part of this journey. Remember to keep making Pigs Fly!
What a treat! We have two special guests visit the pod Jalen ( @5cansell ) & Dagz @ayedagz2800 decent militia kin. We have been friends for a long time and finally got to chop it up on camera. Jalen is a producer, singer, rapper he has hosted a bunch of events and has always been about his bread. Dagz is a local DJ known for throwing bangers and bring energy that is so palpable it brightens everyones moods. The two are a crazy duo filled with inspiration, style and basketball analogies that can motivate anyone! We break down what it really is Jalen does, how he met Dagz, what they have worked on in the past and what they are working on now. A lot of reminiscing in this episode because even though they are younger than me they experienced alot of the great moments that Decent Milita has had over time, south by souuth west, the warehouse in skokie and now witnessing us open a store it has been nonstop leveling up. I appreciate the energy these two bring because they remind me why I started this creative journey and uplift others along the way. Unfortunately the events they were talking about in this episode have already passed but there is always more make sure to check out their Instagram to stay up to date. We have an event with Adoro a Colombian owned fusion resturaunt here in Humboldt Park right next to PSA on October 10th and the next day October 11th is our one year anniversary so we are throwing a party! Come celebrate at the shop or even visit any other weekend 12-7PM 2515 W NORTH AVENUE CHICAGO IL! thank you for listening all the way through and supporting the gang we appreciate you keep making pigs fly!

In this episode I sit down with Noe aka @van.chikogh! An illustrator, photographer, model, designer i've admired his work for a couple of years now just recently we have been at more events together and I would say gotten closer. Noe has made a name for him self through the style of graphite either physical or digital he talks about why he was attracted to it as a medium and which mediums he likes to stay away from. Right off the bat we find alot of similarites between us but then I realize when it comes to school we were nothing alike. Noe always strived for excellence he pushed himself to get good grades and was not okay with just "passing". Me on the other hand I would be happy with a C, I had no real mentors to look up to or teach me anything art related. We talk about what it was like for him going to school further away and the mutual friends we have that have also been on this podcast! I think for the most part Noe and I share the fact that we put alot of thought into what we create, our pieces really mean something to us and we hope to share that feeling with the world. I learned so much in this episode, about me, about noe, about mexican music and so much more the best way to hear everything is to listen all the way through. Thank you for reaching this far we put alot of time into these episodes if you want to see video version please check us out on Youtube. Thank you for listening and have a great day!

It finally happened! I sat down with @naveenissleepy someone that everyone has been telling me to have a conversation with! Naveen and I are very similar in that we design clothes, art and help our friends out when we can, our brands align in that we mix nostalgia and pop culture. Latley he has been going so crazy with Polywrl and freelancing it was an awesome learning more about him. One big difference between us is that Naveen started off as a producer, making beats for his friends that slowly transitioned into cover arts and now designing for some big names in our city. He is also friends with the members of T5 if you haven't listened to that episode please go back it's the funniest one i've had yet! On this episode I sit down with 3/4 owners of Layer Chicago a local vintage resell store that has been making a big name for themselves reselling vintage clothing, furniture, art and so much more.
I recently met the guys after Esteban (@escofits) head stylist and selfless soul, introduced us, gave me a behind the scenes look at their store and we scheduled a day in the distant future to record.
The day came and I learned so much about how they started the companies they left behind to form this new collective and how their store name came about.
These 3 guys are the face of the store while Adam the one not on the podcast is the genius behind everything ( look forward to meeting him too!) I love how charismatic every one is and they have their own distinct styles, the store itself is amazing right on north avenue by one of the busiest areas in the city no wonder it's a success.
You can tell they love what they do especially since they're waking up at 3am some days to do it! I learned alot about vintage lingo and how to work with others in this episode there is alot of gems the best way to hear them all is to listen all the way through!
Thank you for sticking around make sure to comment or give us a 5 star rating! Keep making pigs fly!
Welcome back! Fedz aka Fernando an artist here in Chicago came through and we have our first long format conversation on live on the podcast. Fedz and I have always bumped into each other at events but it was never enough time to truly get to know one another, after this conversation our friendship definitely grew.
I found out that we’re in the same industry not just as artist but signage! He talks about how he’s ready to leave his day job to pursue artistry full time, when he’s not painting murals he’s learning a new medium at the moment he is a tattoo apprentice. Soon he will master this too! We talk about his upbringing, going to Mexico to live with his grandparents, his journey from LA to Chicago and how he got his name.
As a child fedz would sculpt toys and figures out of mud, that slowly turned into actual sculptures and his love for art began. I learned so much about him and myself we are happy to have him and welcome him back anytime! A lot of gems buried in this episode the best way to hear them all is to listen all the way through thank you for supporting the pod and telling all your pals about us!
Follow Fernando @fedzart and you can support the pod by giving us 5 stars and following @pabspod ! Thank you keep making pigs fly!
